why do you want to know? huh? HUH?

Im making an ork cities of death. here's my first building.

Here's the rules for it.

Da boyz hut: Up to three mobs of boyz can occupy this building. Regarding they only have ten boyz per mob also any boyz mobs can occupy this building.

Suprize Ya Gitz! : any enemy unit that camoes within 18'' of this building gets pelted by da boyz. Armed with big shootas a single unit of 10 boyz fire at the enemy unit. However the boyz mob cannot disembark for a full turn. Da boyz cannot do this more than once per turn.

Bar fight : every full turn the boyz mobs stay in da boyz stay in Da boyz hut start fighting each other. Roll a D6 on a 1,2, or 3 give a single boy a ST3 AP- hit.

What do you think? Is this reasonable?

Rules-wise, I guess those aren't too bad. It kind of encourages turtling though, which isn't really the Orky thing to do. The building itself seems like it needs more work. The dags on the roof are cool, but you need more of a ramshackle look. Right now it just looks like a peculiarly decorated bar to me. More haphazardly welded plates, more junk sticking out of the walls, and more variation will help a lot.

What kind of stuff would orks put on their roofs?

The better question is "what wouldn't Orks put on their roofs?" I don't know what the top looks like, currently, but crude aerials and a smoke stack or two wouldn't go amiss. The walls are also noticeably barren. A run of bullet holes roughed into the face with some drybrushed black scorching would add some character, as would the typical orky renovations (i.e. hastily boarded up holes, random glyph plates, graffiti, and the odd reinforcing plate).

Hmn, it's a good start, but then take a minute to imagine what all that fighting both inside and outside would do over time. Add some patches like Oadie said, made of metal and wood, some supports against the wall that run from ground to roof, a ladder and maybe a little side building with a tin roof.

Chimneys, more spikey bits around the roof, wood scaffolding or even a small tower constructed out of balsa would look great around or on the roof.

Maybe overboard for casual terrain, but I'm crazy.

Ork stuff is one of the few times when using thin cardstock and the RARE piece of cardboard pays off. When you finish painting it, it will peel every-which way adding to the look of bolted-together scrap metal. You would also need more bullit 'olez and windowy bitz.

dont worry, i do imperial buildings and I HATE doing windows because it means more work from the inside too, not just the window. I know that you really only want to dedicate so much time to a terrain project, but the only really way to do a terrain project well and be proud of it (and avoid the anoying people who will pick out every problem irrespective of the fact its just there to block LOS and provide cover/elevation) is to engineer the thing.

On to ACTUALLY ANSWERING YOUR QUESTION!

Yes, it is reasonable. If it were on the table I'd be happy with it. its also more than most people could say for what they have for terrain/structures.

also, lets be honest, this thing is there as terrain. So it depends on how much effort you want to put on this thing. People will be more obsessed with the models than with the buildings. So yeah, it really is good.

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from.

Dont you worry, I am trying to change the attitude too. The trouble is not everyone is willing or able to commit the same amount of time on creating terrain after painting their armies.

The following is an example of the lengths I will go to

That's great to see, and I hope it catches on. I understand that painting an army is a long, tedious affair, even more so if you're an accomplished hobbyist and put that extra effort into it, but why would you invest so much time, effort and money into making your figures look so nice, but then take very hasty shortcuts through the setting you'll be placing them on?

Back in the old days, people didn't customize and detail their squads and sometimes only painted their HQ units, then when that changed people were still ignoring the bases on their figures, and now basing is almost a requirement for a nicely made army... maybe in the future a gorgeous table will be the new standard.

Im mostly in it for the modeling and building aspect. Still, my mate has been playing since the 80's, and he has no terrain to speak of. So when OP posts a picture of his, judging from whats written, first ever building, then yes, I will praise the fact that is is both built and painted. Among the ring of people I play with, I am the newest/youngest in gaming terms, and yet I am the only person with a table that is built, based, and painted, along with a dense smattering of terrain.

I will praise that TNM has a complete building with plans for more, because from my experience its more than what people I know have. And praise goes a long way. I know if I didn't get praise for my stuff, I NEVER would have made that temple.

Moving on, after having THORUOUGHLY re-read OP's post, I only see one problem:

what is the point cost for this building? Further to which, are the shootas a part of the building's arsenal? If so, treat it like an immoblisied vehicle of AV 10 all around, with 3 weapons (3 squads inside, i assume each squad can use the ability once), for say.... 90 points? If anyone/either player can occupy it, assuming they are both orcs of course, then i am okay with it having no point value.

Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

You could make more firing points, like some big shootas on the roof.

You really should consider some barbed wire on the building, and if you're not happy with the results, you can be less creative and just copy off DoW.

Now onto the special rules... You should make it accessable for everyone, but everyone who is entering the building must take a dangerous terrain check discluding orks. This represents the advantages of "Orkitekture" (assuming there are alot of spikes, wires, choppas and maybe even some squigs).

Sweet Jesus, Nurgle and Slaanesh in the same box!?
No, just Nurgle and Slaanesh, Jesus will be sold seperately in a blister.

I was thinking instead of making it accesable to everyone give terrain peices that benifit the enemy to even things out. for example da grot towa. where on the roll of a 1 2 or 3 the grots armed with big shootas get rebelious and shoot the ork mobs below.
