Loving it. That coat and hat combo works so well.

One thing that might be worth adding is those weird skull-headed "pins" that Inquisitors are often depicted carrying around. They could add a bit of detail to the somewhat empty areas on the coat, and work as a kind of "spot focus".

Haha - thanks - I had to go and have a look at some screenshots and she has a little Miss Solo vibe going... and she always shoots first!

Turns out hair - particularly long hair - is a lot harder to sculpt than I initially thought...
- Shaved her head down some more
- Scraped out the inside of the hat
- Added in some tiny thin GS tails
- Jammed the hat on (finally low enough I reckon...)
- Scraped/sculpted the tails of GS into a long pony tail
- Cut it all off because it looked like an octopus was trying to escape from her hat!

So here she is with short hair pulled back into a small bun - tonight I'll re-attempt the pony tail.
- Also added a small neck tie on a whim, just to see what it looked like - thoughts?

Close-ups really makes my sculpting look ugly!!!

Thanks for looking!

Great stuff! I'm liking that female Inquisitor, though that necktie makes me think of Krautscientist's Inquisitor. Overall the coat and other sculpted bits look really good. I would personally suggest adding a similar sort of gem or clasp where the two strands overlap, something to fancy it up a bit. Just my opinion though

- Good pick up, it's very reminiscent of KS's inquisitor now you point it out, so it's gone!

Llamahead wrote:This models awesome can't help but think using a Malifaux or Reaper model as the base would have made your life far easier.......

... And yes, you're correct, though there are a number of reasons I went this way:
1. I wanted the sculpting practice,
2. I already had the GW bits lying around, and
3. I want to eventually enter her in GW painting/converting comps, so she had to at least be based on GW bits

Miss Dee wrote:How much would it coust for a twlick jedi?
Ummm... My sanity?
- Seriously, I've never made anything on commission so I have no idea - looking at the Tw'lick I think one could be made easily from DE and possibly some Wood Elf bits, with some head sculpting obviously required - it's really a process of removing things that make the GW females distinct as Dark Eldar, Dark Elf etc etc and adding detail with GS in small steps

Well, thanks again for all the comments, Kallatar is going to be a much better character because of your critiques and suggestions!
- As I said up there somewhere, I've removed the neck tie/scarf, partly because it was a lazy afterthought, and also because as pointed out, it's very similar to KrautScientist's Inquisitor's own tie.
- I'm going to try an etched brass ][ symbol on the torso! as I really want her wearing armour under the coat.

- I like the look of the hair tied up short, so I'm going to add just a little more to the captured dreadlocks, but kep it tied up tight and off the collar, since there's some scribed detail I want to add to the back of the coat...

Pics to follow, hopefully tonight!

Ok, pics...

Ditched the tie/scarf in favour of an ][ - she is. after all, wearing armour under that coat:

There's a bit of knife work to do to redefine some edges, but please let me know what you all think of this mod?

And had another (disastrous) go at longer dreads... Cut off the pre-existing 'bun', drilled a hole, glued a short pin, tried the longer dreads, still looked like an escaping octopus, so in frustration grabbed the tails and twisted them until they peeled away right at the end of the pin, leaving this:

I think it looks better than before, so that's it, Kallatar has dreads twisted into a tight bun - even managed to get a hair-band sculpted, needs a little clean up with a file...

Also cleaned up the back of the coat, it's a lot slicker than the plastic had become.

Thanks for looking!

Wow, cool. I'm not really following the progression here -I'll make sure to follow this thread from now (a)- but the dreadbun looks right to me? And if you really want to show they are dreads, maybe try making some stick out, if possible?

What are you going to do with the collar? Right now the back piece is separate from the front, at the height of the shoulder, if you see what I mean. Are you leaving it separate or isn't it finished yet?

Well, it's been a few weeks and therein lies a tale of woe...
See, I wasn't completely happy with the ][ and the GS work underneath - the ][ was curved and looked a little strange to me - so I was ever so carefully attempting to remove the GS on her chest and accidentally managed to snap off the right collar!!!

And since that happened I've struggled to get back to her, or the work table in general!

Last night tho, I sat back down and stared at Kallatar for a bit, then put her aside again and started some simple work on the 5th member of Kallatar's retinue, an as yet unnamed heavy gunner in a mech-suit, inspired by seeing Edge of Tomorrow and the brilliant renditions of the Jackets (armour exoskeleton suits), and also a little by the Maschinen Krieger suits of Kow Yokoyama, one of my favourite artists and modellers.

First, cut the edges of the clunky feet down:

Cut the legs off the nappy... I mean, the Space Marine armoured undies...

And hollowed out the tops of the legs:

Two weeks out from an international move back to Australia, grabbing desk time is becoming increasingly difficult, but finally...

Kallatar's coat lapel redone:

I had to remind myself most of that lapel will be hidden by the gun

And the mech suit back unit has had some cooling vents added:

Well - as Sam Gamgee said to Rose at the end of The Lord of the Rings - I'm back!

After dodging not one but two hurricanes in Hawaii...
And arriving back in Australia after two years living overseas only to deploy to Rabaul on a warship a week later...
Then fighting with Customs to get our sea containers cleared after months(!)...
And finally having time to set up not one but two Man-Caves (as my son decided to invade the first one...)
The WIP tales of Inqu][sitor have returned!

Not that I really have much to show - it's taken days of pottering amongst the plastic to finally get all the bitz re-sorted to a state where I could actually start sniffing the glue... I mean, glueing things together again, but anyway, here's a quick WIP of the Ordo Xenos mech suit:

Thanks LDD!
Parts list (past, present and future...):
- So far, bits used are the legs and feet and pistons of a Space Marine Centurion

- Going to use two of the Centurion hip-mounts to create the spine of the mech and mount the power-unit on that

- Spare leg pistons will become the arms of the exoskeleton system

- The power unit is a Tau Broadside Battlesuit cooling unit with added venting from Gundam parts kits

- The wearer is a pair of chopped-down Dark Eldar wych Hekatrix legs, her torso is from a DE Venom pilot

- Her head is still undecided but she's going to get a full visor set-up

- Arms.. maybe DE, maybe Empire gunners arms yet...

- Weaponry... either a mounted rifle like the Jacket's in Edge of Tomorrow, or - if I can get it to fit and it doesn't look ridiculously big - I might rig her with an Eldar shuriken-cannon in a left-handed pose...

- And of course, tiny cogs to make the whole thing a little more steampunk so she fits into the Ordo Xenos retinue of Inquisitor Kallatar... And cables, and purity seals...
