Three Color Minimum

Denver, CO

I just finished moving and found this little guy tucked in the bottom of my Shameful Trunk of Unpainted Stuff. It hasn't been opened in ages and I figured this thread would be the perfect place to do an unboxing of some old minis.

This is the first layer. There are three Ral Partha TSR Rogues from 1988. I have no idea about the soldier, goblin, and treant. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's some closeups:
Spoiler:

Ral Partha TSR Rogues from 1988

The base is stamped 1987 Grenadier and it looks like EA38 or maybe FR38 (or some combo thereof). I have no idea what the other mark is.

This goblin is devoid of any markings that I can find. I think he's a standard bearer that's missing a shield and mount.

This treant is my favorite. The bottom says: Mith(??) M187 @CTubb 91 and it looks like there's another tiny mark in the bottom left that I can't make out.

And now for the fun stuff!

Spoilered for dramatic tension and pic heaviness.

These models may get painted someday, but for now they're going back into the Shameful Trunk of Unpainted Stuff.

Thanks for creating this thread. Old stuff is the best stuff IMO.

I wrote rules for the Dark Heresy supplement The Lathe Worlds for a bunch of things in that Skullz Ad-Mech unit.

The two Servitors became Spatha-Pattern Combat Servitors (with either Power Gauntlet or Eletro-Claw, just like on the minis). The thing on the Artisan's wrist became the Arc-Welder. The claw the Magos has became the Servo-Claw, and his staff the Omnissian Rod.

And yes, I do have that set. They're some of my fav miniatures.

I found some of my original Undead while raking about in my garage. They were my very first undead army and I started collecting them when I was in primary school. Their painting can only be called 'interesting' so I decided to repaint them and run them in my Club's Mordheim campaign using a warband list that I wrote myself link.
They haven't seen the table yet but hopefully they can shamble forward on Sunday.
Wights

Ancient Skellies, shame they are mostly in heavy armour and wielding great weapons, not the best equipment for Mordheim

Zombies, from GW's huge hands phase.

Nice undead. Seeing the wight reminded me that I missed mine when I did my undead photo shoot. Never did like his huge axe, seemed a little over the top, even for GW.

In case anyone wants them, the old WD Baneblade plans can be found here.
I'll also share what's on my list to add to my army:

The entire army is from 1990 or earlier, except the Commander who is from 1991 (Games Day 1991). Links in the sig (and one pic here )

Oh and if anyone is interested in old Epic/Space Marine books...this may interest you.

Some Epic stuff I still have lying around. If anyone wants to obtain it, let me know:

Us old timers might occasionally talk about putting an old, metal dread in a sock and beating people to death. We are just kidding, of course. If we really wanted you dead, weā€™d use an old, metal stegedon.

(not my model, but it lives in my basement.)

Itā€™s big, mostly solid, and covered with spikes. Plus shrapnel skinks as a bonus. If there is a mini Iā€™d less want to be thrown at me in anger, I canā€™t think of it.

Before they went all plastic and floaty disk, slann mage-priests were lugged around on the shoulders of their temple guard. Take a moment to consider how that goes together, and reflect on the laws of physics. If you are swearing right now, you might have played lizardmen back then. I canā€™t remember anyone enjoying putting one together, and the howls of agony if one broke during a game could wake the dead. In theory you could get the base to line up nice so you could rank him up in a unit, but I donā€™t think I ever saw one outside a WD built that neatly.

We have a guy at our FLGS who has a metal dread scar on the back of his head. He got in a fender bender years ago, it flew out of the back seat, grazing the top of his head, his gauntlet and a portion of his upper body hitting him, and it kept going past, busting out the windshield and flying roughly twenty feet on the pavement.

He was absolutely fine, and the officer found him still holding a small nickel sized chunk of the guys head in his hands. I'll have to take a picture of his scar for the laughs sometimes and post it up.

Regardless, this proves that only in death does duty end...

Most of the SoB range needs to be moved to plastic for cost/updated looks/etc. The penitent engines need to because of physics. Those things could probably be used in the finals for an engineering course.

a- Given the mass of the body, calculate the forces on the leg joins.
b- Superglue can take xx amount of stress before failing, can it support this model?

But...what happened to the dread? Was it ok? Don't leave us in suspense!

Psst, I wasn't writing about the guy who got hit. He was almost knocked out. He was absolutely fine, and the officer found him still holding a small nickel sized chunk of the guys head in his hands.

I was writing about the dread. He smashed the pavement and all, and was fine. He was sold two years later to someone making an oop army.
