+1 WS, BS, S, T, I, & Ld then?
Giving 5 5 5 5 1 5 1 9 for stats. Probably 2+ saves (“finest” power armour and all that)
Not totally unreasonable to be honest. Makes them plainly better than marines one-on-one and would even give them a fighting chance if massed against a primarch (guardian spears being their default weapon and all that).

Two attacks and two wounds base would also be nice but that depends on whether it's FW or GW writing the rules.

I feel like we should only be able to field 10-20 custodes. I'm pretty sure the Emperor himself would only roll with about 100 at a time

Not sure about +1 leadership. Custodians don't fight that well as a unit

No but more so than Marines they are absolutely unlikely to flee combat or be affected by anything they see or experience. These are after all the guys who operate with expedition fleets at one point , knowing they will likely be stuck against gigantic odds with no back up. It seems likely any 40k rules would be a lesser version - lost tech etc preventing the creation of the same quality warriors.

How sure are we that guardian spears in 30k don't have disintegration beams instead of bolt guns. As I pointed out in the art from this very thread, "looks like bolter but is a laser weapon. I got shut down earlier due to deathwatch guardian spears having special ammo. Profile for that says it is specially modified to take said ammo. Odd as any bolter can take special ammo? Seems to imply a full modification not just slap in different magazines. So why in the land of so damn many bolts would they just make gold marines with bolters?

Lexicanum wrote:The Guardian Spear was the traditional weapon of the Adeptus Custodes during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy. The spears were halberd-like power weapons incorporating a bolt weapon. The weapon's powerful ranged and close combat duality complemented the fighting style of this bodyguard force, giving them good capabilities in both close combat and at a distance. In battle, Custodes spin these weapons in great arcs, slaying enemies with each strike be it in melee combat or from afar.

Do we have any confirmation that they're Mk III or Mk II sets in the box?

The latest FW post showing the 1k Sons transfers had a MK II suit in the background.

The Thousand sons on the WD cover seems to be wearing MKIII power armour.

What picture are you referring to and what makes you think that marine is connected to the prospero box?

It was in a FW promo-email that they send out if you sign up, but it's also on the FW main page where they're promoting the transfer sheets.

I have no idea if it is or if it isn't. However the timing of the box about to be revealed and the 1k Son art made me wonder.

I see.
You're probably reading to much into that picture. We know from the WD picture that there will be MKIII in the box and I'd be very surprised to see more than one power armor mark in the same box. It'd be great if it was the case since I already have a fair bit of MKIII from FW but not much MKII , but I don't see it happening .

It's MkIII. That MkII suit is unrelated, just to show the transfers (they wouldn't be showing models from the new box yet).

Have all the various Calth units been given 40k rules?

If so guess its possible Custodes / Sisters of Silence may well do so as well so they can sell the units separately.

Judging by how often WD keeps featuring battle reports that aren't consistent with the codex, he's probably more reliable

Id highly doubt SoS would get 40k rules, as they are not in 40k. They will hve rules for 30k from Forgeworlds ruleset for book 7. I would say the same for Custodes. They watch over a corpse now and haven't fought in 10,000 years.

I don't get all the clamorning for SoS and Custodes to be in 40k. They are not from that time period. Let the games be different

We simply don't know what happened to the SOS post Heresy - they are apparently showing up in the Beast BL novels, but that might be where they are destroyed or whatever.
.
I do know the fluff elements, however I would be surprised if GW does make them also 40k compliant as its lost sales if not? Have all the Calth units now got 40k rules?

How long ago did the 13th Company vanish into the Eye of Terror?

Written like a fan, not a commercial enterprise.

If GW believes that making them available in 40K will stimulate sales, then available in 40K they will be. Fortunately it won't really impact on 30K being the more interesting variant to play if they do so.

They will not have 40k rules.
It has nothing to do with commercial, as can be seen by the fact that Sisters of Battle is on the backburner even though everyone knows that there is interest.
It has to do with story and balance, and that is why they will stay in 30k where we are fortunate to get them.

Fixed

The primary appeal of 30K is its difference from 40K, if GW insist on mixng them both together until they're functionally indistinguishable out of fear of potential lost sales, they're only proving they haven't really learned anything since they canned Specialist Games the first time.
