I was passing through Chicago a few weeks ago and I saw this model in the display case of the GW battlebunker. I can't find it on the Forgeworld site and it has some features that seem distinctly non-craftworld, such as lots of flat surfaces and if I'm not mistaken new style dark lances. It's totally possible this thing has been around and since I don't play eldar I never noticed it but I thought I'd put it out there. I should also note that there were some other really nice scratchbuilt items in the cases so this may also be a very intrepid homebrew model.

If anyone in the Chicago area games at the Battlebunker maybe they'll have some input for me.

I was in the middle of a cross country move and late to meet people for dinner so it's authenticity wasn't a big deal to me at the time. Being an IG player I wasn't familiar with all of the FW eldar kits so I just assumed it was one of theirs. It wasn't until a few days later that I started trying to figure out what it was and kept striking out. I agree that it looks like a really competent scratchbuild but it lacked any rough edges indicative of plasticard use or the like. Who knows, it's a nice looking model at the very least.

Main reason it looks like a scratch build is because it lacks detail and looks clunky.

I saw it the day it was brought into the store. It is a SCRATCH BUILD and a quite nice one as well. Ask the staff and they should confirm this as well.

I think is was carved out of a block of foam.

Looks nice, bit I don't think the actual model would have the curve behind the cockpit, when someone mentioned it being scratch built I thought it might have been based on a stealth bomber toy or something, but very good work if its crafted from foam

Damn nice model, scratch build or not (though I'd hope that the official model has a bit more detail). Looks similar to the sketches in the 'dex mind

Given the picture of the Razorwing that is up now...this looks very much like it was built by someone who saw the finished product. Waaaay too close to the real thing.

Not saying it's not good, mind, but to me it looks closer to Forgeworld's Phoenix or Nightwing than the new Razorwing.

The biggest feature in my mind is the open rather than vented intake ports inside the wings. Neither of the FW models have such a feature. I also feel like the nose is closer to the Razorwing than the FW models. *shrug*

but the picture on page 46 of the DE codex has the same nose and open intakes...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
also the VR and RW are described as supersonic in the new DE codex
you dont use vented intakes on super sonic aircraft because of the wave drag and excessive shocks. You want to shock it down as little as you can so you still have some tempurature rise left to burn up to.

If I may, why Razorwings? I think the Voidraven is helluva a lot better.

Anyone noticed these look to be "inspired" by the Batwing?

Why is it GW can blatantly steal IP and CWS cannot?

Really? The Batwing? *sigh* Which one?

'Cause I don't think it looks close to either. What does it look like? The rest of the Dark Eldar aesthetic. Sleek, sharp, and bladed.

1/10 for trolling.

The voidraven is too expensive for what it does, mainly because the missiles are ten points a piece. If they were five each, the extra armor and higher strength lances would make them equal, at least, but as it is it lacks the main thing the flyers are good at unless you feel like paying 180+ for it all. The razorwing at least works out to almost as good as a ravager once it's dumped its missiles onto something, unless you switch up its weapons to make it a dedicated anti-infantry gunship, for not much more than an upgraded ravager works out to.

Where's the Razorwing picture from? It's not in advance orders, as far as I can tell.

If I recall, someone said the picture is from a GW facebook page.

I guess I'm too big of a fan of the voidmine and the improved lances. I'll be facing a lot of armor 12 in the future and would rather have the improved lances to deal with the Stormravens.
