Some rumours from warseer:

Well, we'll see in January at the latest.

There's been a bit of direct leakage at GW Germany, which I thought I should share. At the present, Brets are scheduled to be released between November and January, though there appear to be some kinks in the system they have to work out, hence the span of three months. No further details as of yet, as ony the release schedule has so far made its way out. (Although only the Lady knows how many last-minute screw ups could postpone that still further... we've seen it before! )
There has been talk about several plastic kits, though I am wary of that, as GW has sometimes developed plastic kits that were withdrawn at the last minute (a Dwarf character set was scrapped, and two of the concept minis - a dwarf king on oathstone and a BSB - were released in metal instead). I'm hearing two at least, but well... big surprise there, as every new army book has come with at least two new plastic sets in th recent past.

Would anybody know if the timing is significant in any way? I'm guessing it will have some effect that we are being published after the release of Storm of Magic.

And guys... let's keep the "yeah, sure, reliable source" jokes down to a minimum, please. This is the good stuff, rumour-wise.

Not a lot to go on other than a time frame, although going by past experience I'd have guessed it would be either November or January - nothing much tends to get released in December after all...

"I also have a couple of rumours to add, a 6 man knight kit that can make either questing or grail knights and a plastic trebuchet kit that makes either standard trebuchet or a fireball ish throwing catapult. There is also slated a plastic lord kit suitable for king leon.

The source also supports a late year early next year release."

He sounds pretty confident too.
thats 3 guys now all sounding very confident.
So what do I know?

Just thought to share something I read.

Anything to stop Bretonnian players whinging that their army is rubbish in 8th

Seriously, I'm intrigued to see what they do for Bretonnians given the current style of releases. Most armies seem to get a big feth off monster/war mahine these days. Trebuchet exepted, this doesn't really fit the style of Bretonnians.

I agree with Flashman, i've seen Bret players complaining even when they win that their army is worthless and that maybe GW will take them out of the shelves permanently...which is obsurd in my opinion... I know some people these rumors will make happy... Even my Night Goblin Fanatics are thrilled at the prospect!

Would be fair to give Harry's other comment on that batch of rumours:
No.

I shall use a few more words.

No, I don't think Bretonnians are scheduled to be released between November and January.
I don't think they have ever been in the schedule for this year.

I could be wrong .... I was surprised when Tomb Kings turned up a few months before I was expecting them.
But I would be very surprised if Bretonnians turned up on this time scale.

All the best,
Harry

I am not 'willing' or indeed able to correct you.
If you have heard something from people you trust that is a solid rumour.
... and it is a good deal more solid than anything I have heard. (Which is nothing ... and that is what makes me think nothing is happening on the time scale suggested by the OP).

... and I am only a civilian too.

I only asked because you seemed so confident.

Brets are not worthless in 8E. Hard to win with, sure. They are very unforgiving of mistakes. But when you do it right, they work very well indeed. Certainly no worse than High Elves, that's for sure.

I worry about what GW might do to the Brets with a new rulebook. And only a half-dozen or so magic items? Seriously? Which ones would you choose, there are sooooo many good ones!

I have to wonder who is playing HE and who is playing Brets in your area that this comparison is even possible. All the remaining 6th ed books desperately need new army books, and I am looking forward to Brets, though far less so than WE, Ogres, and Dwarves. Not in that order.

6th edition lands on June 23rd!

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

Actually, the evaluation is the general consensus of the Round Table of Bretonnia. Since Lance ranks now count toward breaking ranks and steadfast, that goes a long way to evening things out. Now a big Lance of knights can break mid-sized infantry blocks, whereas until the ruling was made Brets really struggled. Now, we just see it as a matter of finesse.

Besides, Trebuchets are really awesome right now. I'm dreading the nerf that is coming in the new book.

Is it ok to complain about 7th?

I think my only complaint is the relatively limited variaty of viable builds. More than a lot of armies , Bretonnian armies tend to look alike.

On a side note, given the described size and the way its rules a written I tend to think an updated trebuchet plastic kit will be Brettonia's large model.... necrosphinx sized.

This.

Biggest help thus far. I haven't seen any reason to take anything except KotR as by the time you fill out the train, you don't really have the points to sink in for Grail/Questing groups.

Knights are NOT made for attrition warfare, so having the ability to throw cheap/large road blocks out there is nice.

Also, I'm trying to incorporate the Pilgrims/Relique into my army just to have some different groupings - though they are filling the same need as halbreds/BSB.

I will include my self as a solid Bretonnian Player, nice to hear that there's a rumour for upgrading the army book as it is....really in 8th Ed, bret is not strong enough in the battle field because of the initiative rules, they should inrease the initiative of the knights specially KOTR, with Deamons with initiative 5, you lose because of the killing blow rules of blood letters. I observe this when we have a Gladiator cap campaignTournament in the Phils. only this l summer " April & May 2011. They can punch on the charge but base of initiative against higher initiative they lose....
