My friend's basement recently flooded and ruined all of his home-made terrain, rule books, and lost some Necron/IG figures and a few IG Tanks.

My worst was when I came home from work and found my dog chewing on a Crisis Suit (not that bad)

Now I'm interesed in hearing some of your best (or worst) horror/sob stories involving your minis. Share what stories you know if your luck has been good!

And if you're drinkin' well, you know that you're my friend and I say "I think I'll have myself a beer"

I was playing a game and someone knocked my painted Deff Dread on the floor breaking it. Then he trod on it.

Didn't pay for a new one just apologized. Didn't show his face in the store since then.

My cat deciding that I was not paying him enough attention and the way to get more attention was to hop onto my modelling table when I went to the toilet and flick two open pots of paint onto the floor and then sit there looking smug! little git.

The 2nd and 3rd shelves of this collapsing:

I nearly cried. Literally.

Luckily the 2/3 contain SW/Eldar which I was playing a game of at the time. Talk about luck/karma/*god*.

However my 1994 Blood claws which didnt get used took the absolute brunt of it. My metal Ork KKs were on the top shelf. I still have nightmares about that one going.....

Note: old glue is not strong glue :(

I once ran over a spare tire that fell off of the back of someone's truck, and since I had my windows and sunroof open, my Eldar army which was sitting loose in uncovered boxes in the back seat went flying everywhere, mostly getting run over by other drivers or ending up in the culvert below. 8,000 points worth of completely painted Eldar, including an armorcast Revenant scout titan destroyed. By the time the cops arrived, three other people had run over the same tire and I had screamed myself hoarse. I wasn't even that concerned with the car (A twelve year old Ford Escort) and I have not played Eldar since. The owner of the tire that caused all this destruction, including two other vehicles and mine totaled, was never discovered.

The worst thing ever to happen to my minis was the creation of the Grey Knight codex.

It is the 3rd Millennium. For more than a hundred months Games Workshop has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Nottingham. It is the foremost of wargames by the will of the neckbeards, and master of a million tabletops by the might of their inexhaustible wallets. It is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with business strategies from the early Industrial Revolution Age. It is the Carrion Lord of the wargaming scene for whom a thousand veteran players are sacrificed every day, so that it may never truly die. Yet even in its deathless state, GW continues its eternal vigilance. Mighty battleforce starter-sets cross the online-store-infested miasma of the internet, the only route between distant countries, their way lit by a draconian retail trade-agreement, the legal manifestation of the GW's will. Vast armies of lawyers give battle in GW's name on uncounted websites. Greatest amongst its soldiers are the Guardians of the IP, the Legal Team, bio-engineered super-donkey-caves. Their comrades in arms are legion: the writing team and countless untested rulebooks, the ever vigilant redshirts, and the writers of White Dwarf, to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from other games, their own incompetence, Based Chinaman - and worse. To support Games Workshop in such times is to spend untold billions. It is to support the cruelest and most dickish company imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of sales discounts and Warhammer Fantasy Battle, for so much has been dropped, never to be re-published again. Forget the promise of cheaper digital content and caring about the fanbase, for in the GW HQ there is only profit-seeking, Space Marines and Sigmarines. There is no fun amongst the hobby shops, only an eternity of raging and spending, and the laughter of former employees who left GW to join better companies.

Hive Fleet US Customs happened to my BFG ships, I have over 70 imperial navy ships and they were all painted to a good standard and packed in a foam lined box with bubble wrap.

I keep opening the box and making strangled sobbing noises since it arrived late January. There are so many bits snapped off them, so many stems of flying bases snapped inside the bigger ships, so much paint scratched off that I have no idea whether to repaint them from start or try to cover the parts that got uncovered.

It's all a real mess. It was very disheartening after the hours and hours of work.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

Dropping shelves definitely sucks ass.

I might point out all of these things have the unfortunate side effect -- you have to take time that could be spent painting _OTHER_ minis.

Spilling a jar of super glue over two squads of ork boyz, it formed a puddle and was left to dry for 6 hours while I was at school. Came back to them stuck t my desk in an ocean of dried glue. luckily they survived after hours of chipping away at them. My dog also enjoys eating SM and GK. He wont eat orks though... maybe they have to many sharp bits. Anyway 5 SM, 2 GK termies, a rhino and countless paintbrushes have died at the hand of a tiny dog known as...

A white-tailed rat ate 40 of my half-painted Guardians... but meh, they are only guardians.

However, I have misplaced $2000 worth of Rackham Confrontation metals somewhere... 1 small box was all it was and I have a feeling it was thrown in the garbage by mistake during pre-cyclone cleanup

In a game I accidentally dropped my large blast template from about 2 feet onto my casualties. I had about 5 of my painted infantrymen smashed up pretty badly, not nearly as bad as some of these stories though.

My father came over to my house to put in the lights on my modeling table, awesome! He left the modeling room door open. So I get to come home and discover that my cat thought that foam was just awesome to lay upon, with my 1500 points of Dark Eldar within it. Why, oh why, would the cat lay upon all those spikey bits! So smashed the warriors, the ravagers, the reavers, and the raiders and wyches. Snapped off the heads of the Incubi and Archon. They were painted D:

Minis... Not a lot.

I did have some terrain ruined by a small leak of Turpentine onto it, though.

The piece was a rocky mountain fortress, painstakingly carved from foam, sealed with pva, flock and paint.

Pinhole leak in the bottle (one drop per hour) leaked out and dripped onto it from a high shelf. Over a couple of weeks, it ate its way through the inside of the mountain, leaving a painted skin attached to the base.

I've yet to rebuild it.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Family friend's down sydrome child dropped my predator mark 2 on the floor when I was younger. I had warned them that my models were off-limits but the parents didn't care. I told them to replace it, they just shrugged.

I then told them how much it cost, they got their wallets out and paid for a new one from ebay, plus paid shipping thank the gods.

The second incident occured at my old house. The roof collapsed in the basement because of white ants, and the contractor who we hired chucked out everything in the area...including about half my 2500 pts of marines. I was very angry, and presented him with a bill for what he had thrown out. Then my parents took legal action against him, won it as well.

My poor models sit there naked and unpainted :(

Anyway speaking seriously not much: a friend stepped on a Scarab base, but I reglued them. Then I lost the Gauss muzzle for my Necron Lord, but whatevs. Finally my Archon's back tassel thing got clipped so its slightly shorter but looks fine.

Yeah nothing serious I guess, I am quite careful with my minis.

Bwahahahahha delightfully honest humor!

The worst thing to happen to my mini's was probably to my Broadside team leader. I spent a ton of time converting/painting you know the deal. A friend of mine bumps the table... he falls 4 feet and shatters into a thousand pieces. Of course I re-assembled... but.. he was never the same.

Ah, actually a more recent one.

Was doing an apoc game. Had rexie. Guy lent on the castor equipped table, rex smashed, including sword, and cape. Greenstuffed it on, but he's not quite the same.

Someone running instore tripped on my baneblade and broke off the barrel of the baneblade cannon (I even had it UNDER THE TABLE).

some new guy picks up my newly painted basalisk, and ripped of the side of the crew area. I told him to glue it back on as is. He managed to break the whole model. I then told him to order a new one from FW for me. He hasn't shown his face at GW since.
