First of all, let me say in general thank you Dakka and in particular, thank you the M, P & T section!

It was reading nerdfest09's Marines Exemplar blog that it was mentioned about the various renegade chapters and indeed Warden chapters we have being painted up at the same time. We bantered back and forth and thought about how we all missed the global campaigns were results accomplished goals - you know, before the mess that was the Eye of Terror where no results mattered and half of it sadly got retconned anyhow.

So the idea came up to start up a global campaign of sorts for Dakka - based on the 'Warden' chapters that guard and patrol the Eye of Terror, the various crusading and penitent chapters and the Legions and Renegades.

Nothing as grand as a destroy the universe cartoon bad guy plot of a Crusade - more a focused campaign with a possible narrative and ground being gained and lost.

But here's where I need your help - I need to chart things out. I need to work out who is based where.

We need the following:

A list of the Warden chapters

A list of the 'current' crusades/missions etc. in the EoT region.

A list of Legions and Renegade warbands active in the EoT region.

A list of Xenos activity in the EoT region

I'd also appreciate some help with actually developing the goals and with the background as well. There are a lot of grey areas with the Warden Chapters and the Renegades - my own Renegades are such an example - the Extinction Angels appeared in all of 2 publications

I'll aim to keep this post updated and hopefully together we can mash out a structure, a plot and flesh a bit out.

Who knows, maybe even other things will come from this.

I've just been flicking through my old Eye of Terror codex, though I dont know if you would still class the info "current" but I thought it would be worth a look. It names the Excoriators, Night Watch, Relictors, Subjugators, White Consuls as well as the Marines Exemplar mentioned above as some of the Astartes Praeses, chapters who guard the regions surrounding the Eye of Terror. Hope that helps.

Every little helps. Flicked through that when I got home - it still classes as current - we're pretty much just going to avoid the whole jury-rigged outcome stunt GW pulled.

Not strictly true Codex: EoT mentions 1 Honour Company being present around the EoT.

Going by mentions from different sources - I'll need to start marking the sources down soon enough - thankfully my memory's not that shot.

I think the focus on this campaign should be something other than GW's signature characters.

Also, if folks can help and/or are interested then I'd be curious to know what you play - that way I can start making other notes and developing a storyline toward us rather than using a plunger to wedge us in.

Thanks DSS! great stuff so far! you're more organised than you give yourself credit for! well, we can safely mark my boys down for glory! I was talking to veteran sergeant Dalton and his Tac squad is itching to melt some renegades! :-)

i'll have some more look into the warden chapters and see what i can find.....

Love this idea and would be glad to help with this! I plan on starting a warden chapter as well, just unsure which one.

I've also been trying to get an online campaign running so it would be great if this can get rolling. Do you have ideas of what kind of mechanic system you would use for calculating wins/loses, etc, and for how people would submit their games?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
it may be easier to create a planet within the EoT region and use the chapters who work within this area for the various groups. that way there is a lot of room to avoid GW characters, and their own battles.

Also, Warden chapters,there are 18: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Astartes_Praeses

I'd be down for a new EoT based webpaign.

No Warden Chapter(and I don't need ANOTHER Marine army), though I do have a home-brew Renegade/Traitor Chapter as well as Thousand Sons. From your lists, I've also got Dark Angels(the entire 4th Company and elements of the 1st, 2nd, and 10th) and Wolves.

Let me know what help you'd need.

Thanking you all for the input so far - the idea of setting it on a world or perhaps a specific sector of space is a sound one. I'll have to toy with how victories, defeats etc. will count towards it.

I'm still gathering information on the forces involved and when I can will start linking to wiki pages that have the colours for all the individual chapters (though this will have to be from home as I have somewhat limited access to things at work.)

Erebus and The Word Bearers also features IIRC. Erebus at least was responsible for several Warp storms around The Eye.

Cheers for that - updated to include this - I seem to remember reading Word Bearer involvement in the books as well.

Sorry if this is taking time. Things goy busy and work got lousy. Any and all information helps! I need to start noting what comes from where really.

For a full list, I'm not sure if you've seen it yet, look on here

and

You just seemed to be missing some forces, thought you may want to have a look.

I am actually aware of that - however, things to note - for the Chaos side of things I'm only going with confirmed sightings.

The focus is very much the 'Wardens' themselves rather than a lot else - the other thing to consider is that this is not the 13th Black Crusade - just as GW seem content to roll back past that so will we, simply because it puts too much emphasis on the actions of named characters rather than the various Wardens and Renegades.

Smaller scale as it were.

I realize that, but they're all listed in the campaign book as well.

To some degree yes. But a lot of the forces listed in the campaign book are not 'native' forces to that region and were deployed specifically for the campaign itself.

The focus here is the native forces present within the region and that's what I'm trying to go on. IIRC the only ones missing from the list from the book are either Titan Legions or unconfirmed Chaos sightings.

Essentially I'm trying to get an initial picture before choosing to focus.
