So now I am the proud owner of 3 Giants and moving onto my 4th soon (two GW one Ultraforge) and one thing I have always loved in Fantasy Lore is the Sky Titans who ruled in the days of old. Now I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to make a army with a very low model count (sky titans and maybe some lackeys) and what kind of rules one would use.

I dont really know what a sky titan is but how big are we talking about? Ogre sized army with giants could work with either ogres or chaos trolls since they have access to really big things or are we talking about an army made out of giant monsters?

Sky giants ruled thousands of years ago.
basically giants were civilised. the ogre kingdoms take the credit for toppling the civilisation and enslaving the giants.

thats how i read it anyhow

mmmm that was a dodgy mushroom

Do it as ogre kingdoms.
Just run tooled up characters.
Hunter could be throwing thunderbolts.
Butchers use lore of heavens, instead of gut magic.
Replace gnoblars with empire halbardiers and spearmen.
Leadbeltchers throw bolts (magical lightning hits).
Slave giants are special and rare.
Maneaters are still rare, but drop points to 60 (it's really all they are worth).

Gorger is replaced with tempest (same stats and rules, but model as a possessed lightning storm); loses poison, gains magical attacks.

So you gain better cheap infantry and cheaper man eaters, but give up gut magic (which is good) and scrap launchers (which is the best thing ogres have).

And, you must model everything in togas.

Well their lore talks alot about them being isolated on mountains but I have also found some lore (though it may be more fan based) that talks about them being involved in the first war against chaos farther north than most races. But the way GW talks about them they seem very godesq (though they where killed by the ogres so not gods )

IIRC, the ogres won that war by eating them out of house and home. In a head to head match, the Titans were beating the ogres, but the ogres simply ravaged the countryside and weakened by starvation, the Titans fell.

Im thinking maybe just boosting the WS and A of basic giants then giving a more Lordesq one access to Magic Items and jsut running them

It's said numerous times the Titans had castles.

But Ogres for sure. I am not into making new rules as I rarely think they are balanced. I would just use Ogres rules and reverse it and say the Ogres are the slaves of the "Titans." Kind of like Gnoblars.

A group of Titans took over an existing ogre tribe. And hell, they sure are big, I could see the Ogres doing what they said.

Have SlaveGiants and Gorgers and Tyrant and Leadbelchers and Butcher be your Titans. The Tyrant and Butcher being a kind of Skaven Packmaster pushing those unruly Ogres along. The Leadbelchers are like Titan gunlines. Hell, a scraplauncher could be just a big ass titan throwing chunks of castle (I don't think they actually did anything lightning-like, they were just early Giants who lived in the sky and weren't stupid), he's got perfect stats for it.

You could still have Gnoblars as the Ogres would have them anyway. Like cats. (Or rats.)

You might not want to have many models, but GW does. It would never be balanced to have just a handful, it's just too hard to make fair. You're either going to lose 25% of your army to one random roll every other round or you'd have to give everything some crazy ward saves/leadership/abilities and be impossible for some armies to take down.

While I agree with you in the old Beasts of Chaos book you could take a Shaggoth as a lord choice. So maybe a few tweaks to the ogre book like Matt said (Heavens instead of gut magic, giants boosting points, moving to special and regaining stubborn and the ability for a giant lord choice)

Also the Seige Giant from Forge World should be included, but instead of their hands being replaced by hooks, they are armored with a sword or something similar

Also maybe those Bonebreaker Giants (what are they called again? Their in SoM) as a Rare Choice, maybe even Bologs and Cachtorr as a character choice

Perhaps an option for Chaos War Mammoths, but instead of the Maurauders they either have a giant riding them or are simply unridden, the Sky Titans did act as Shepards to them I do believe at one point
