I am going nuts.
I for some reason remembered from my nostalgia a movie scene that scared me to death when I was young. (It's NOT THE LEGACY).

Anyways, it was at night I believe and a woman is swimming and some baby doll faced guy (if I remember correctly) flicks some switch and this dome or something rather closes over the pool and the lass drowns..

Anyone know?

I do actually...
Can't remember what film it is...
Wasn't the entire thing based around her being in the pool?

Dunno, but there was a similar scene in 'The Human Centipede', which is all kinds of wrong.......

The movie was called Valentine...the woman who was killed in the way your describing was Denise Richards (from Starship Troopers)...and she was in a hot tub IIRC.

Killer was wearing a cherub mask , which is why he had a "baby face".

...It also had the guy who plays " Angel" ( the vampire) in it.

What cinched it was Black Ram mentioning the killer had a " Baby doll face", I imediately knew the film in question as I recalled laughing at the scene thinking " She can survive a cave filled with Arachnid Warriors...but get's offed by the Campbell soup kid."

Heh, thats a good point. The scene where they are all celebrating after getting the brain bug really bothers me. She had a huge talon go through her shoulder, but a few minutes later she is hugging people with that arm and not bleeding to death... I'm OK with most things, but a human body is a human body.

..I know that many people on Dakka ( and in 40k in general) have an affinity for Starship Troopers, since it's the " IG vs Nidz" film...but honestly, the movie is just goofy all the way round...it's "fun"...but it's by no means well acted.

I think my favorite part about that movie are just the propaganda clips.

Would you like to know more?

It was such a let down for me, I grew up reading my Dad's Heinlein books, and Starship Troopers was one of my favorites. (The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is still number one) So one day he takes me to this movie and it was just pure camp. On the flip side the shower/ sex scene makes up for a lot of the acting.

Yes, book to film adaptations rarely live up to their source material, but SST feel flat on it's face...and don't even get me started on the sequels...not all the T&A in the world could save them.

Mesopotamia. The Kingdom Where we Secretly Reign.

I love Starship Troopers. I mean I really love that movie.

I do not, however, have any illusions that it is a "good" movie.

Yeah, that scene is so ridiculous that I think we have to assume it's parodying other films where people 'forget' about incredible injuries they suffered just a couple of minutes before. Except that tone wasn't really consistent throughout the movie, while there were other parody elements throughout they were thrown in with far more straightforward action setpieces. The whole thing was all just a bit of mess, at the end of the day.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

In your base, ignoring your logic.

Yep, everyone thinks that it's a horrible adaptation of the book, but then again most movies are bad adaptations, but its still a fun, campy movie.

The movie wasn't supposed to be a straight adaptation. The book is a pretty straight forward sci-fi novel with some political underpinnings whereas the movie is a satire of fascism and a parody of war films.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Yeah but the fact that (in a descending spiral of awfulness) the movies are bad is what makes them so entertaining...
