So keeping in line with a couple other threads I've started recently I'm looking for things for my new Dark Elf "Corsair" themed list.

I really want a Cauldron of Blood, but not just to feild in games. I would also like it to be a nice little center-piece for my army on the display shelf.

I really want something that fits with the Slaver/Pirate/Ocean-going theme. I've tossed around the idea of gaint sea monsters and altars pulled by prisoners and a few other random ideas but nothing is really jumping out at me.

So now I turn to Dakka.

Anything you can think up would be great, even just an idea in the right direction to get me started would help a lot.

Thanks!

You could always have some sort of mobile gallows, with vultures and skeletons hanging in cages and stuff.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

Mount the cauldron on an appropriate sea-beastie? Have a giant lobster carrying it?

I like the idea of the Mobile Gallows Platform that's been hauled ashore just for the expedited slaughter of the local populace. Was thinking of using the Warp Lightning Cannon or Plague Furnace set to make one up. That would certainly fill the roll of army centerpiece.

Also really love the idea of some sort of "cauldron toting lobster of the deep". However the main problem with big sea monsters is the lack of available models. I don't mind doing some minor conversion work to make something up but I really haven't even found a basic model I like to start work off of. If anyone knows of some suitably chariot-base-sized crabs/lobsters/ect I would be very interested in them.

Stegadon would fit the dino theme, carrying a howdah with the cauldron.
RAFM once had a giant turtle, seems OOP.
McFarlane has a giant coral dragon.

Check your local toy stores. They might well have a suitable hard plastic critter you can make use of.

EDIT: My cauldron was made from the chassis of a Tiranoc chariot, with the bowl from a half-tablespoon measuring spoon, and a couple flagellants (the ones wearing the stocks) chained to drag it along. Get a suitable Hag figure with a whip (maybe borrow a Beastmaster figure?) to ride it and it comes out pretty nice.

I think I've settled on the "Gallows Mobile" using the Screaming Bell kit as a base and green stuffing some sea shells, barnicles, maybe even a little turtle or octopus on to it to help blend the theme.

On that note did one of the VC kits come with a "hanged man" by any chance? I would love to model it hanging over the cauldron.

I think it will work as a good center piece and really stand out without looking out of place.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I can't wait to get to work on this.

You could always hang some zombies over the cauldron.

This isn't an idea for appearance, but if you bought Skrag the Slaughterer, took the cauldron off and put Skrag on a regular 50mm base as a Butcher

Also in the way of fish models Troll Forged Miniatures make a beautiful giant Crab model , possibly even using two of their Behemoth crabs. There is also more stuff like a huge eel, warturtle and lobster cavalry on the way
