I was thinking of ways to represent Role-play adventureres on the table top other than ganging all your characters into a group-this is what i have so far:

You group together 5-8 models on a single base 50x100mm (any appropriate mix eg for Empire, Brets, Elves or Dwarfs you could have a human wizard, a Halfling,A Dwarf and a couple of Elves) the front of the base is the wide edge. The base represents the whole party co-operating together so acts like a single creature.
The base operates like a monster ie removed when all wounds are lost. no unit move restrictions ect.
Not a large target.

M 5 WS 5 BS 4 S 4 T 4 W 5 I 5 A 10 LD 9

D6 ranged attacks 24" range works as bow fire (but represents the partys magic and missles).
Armour save 4+
Ward 6+
All attacks count as magical.
Magic resist 1
Stubborn

Max of 1 per 2000pts, does not count towards any of existing categories eg rare, special etc.

The big question is points?????????????

Bear in mind i dont have 8th so i may be a bit out of date.

Thoughts?

Cute idea.
I'd do D6 shots + remaining wounds (S3, or remaining wounds only, S4).
Attacks are 2 times remaining wounds.
So as it takes wounds, it loses hitting power (representing the loss of individuals on the combined base).
Add in stubborn, and it's a useful unit.

120 points maybe.

I meant to put stubborn in there.
Not sure about the declining attacks as i liked the idea of them being powerfull untill wiped out, i was thinking they could act on full power due to healing potions/clerial powers but without the extra rules-also could have done this with regenerate but again its more needless rolling.
points i think nearer 200.

I'd change the movement characteristic to that of the armies' standard movement - if they're in an Elf army, you don't awn't M4, if their Dwarfs, M5 would be pointless. I agree withHawaiiMatt on how the Attacks are determined, but if you still wan't a set number of Attacks at least reduce them - to 6 or 7. I was inclined to say to reduce the D6 ranged attacks to D3, but then I noted that that includes the Wizards spells. My bad . I think that it should be a Lord or Hero choice. I can see how a council several races could act as a single commander - combining their tactical knowledge and leadership to act as a one general. In that case they'd be Leadership 10 to represent their combined authority. I'm quite partial to this idea. As they are a Lord/Hero, they could join units (much like Skarsnik and Gobbla). Points . . . around 155 points - in which case they'd have to be a Lord's choice.
