Hey guys, in a few weeks (just before, or just after christmas) im going to pick myself up a Cryx Battlebox, and i was wondering what else ill need to start Warmachine, are the ''quick-start rules'' any good?
Is there some sort of, equivalent to a codex?
Any info for a new start will really help guys

The Cryx Battlebox is a pretty good starting point. The quick start rules will cover all that is in the box and will therfore be sufficient at the start. If you consider expanding your army, it would be a good idea to get the rule book, as rules for units and other important things are not included in the quick start rules.
There are Faction books, but they are not necessary from a gaming perspective. If you want to read about fluff and see all the options that the faction has to offer its nice, but if you're short in cash internet research will do and all models come with stat cards.
Note: The Faction book only includes models that have been released before Warmachine: Wrath ( the latest, as usual completly optional, " expansion" book)

There is no required codex, however there is a Forces of Warmachine: Cryx book that has most of the miniatures as well as fluff to read and painting tips. It is not required because each miniature comes with a stats card that includes all stats and special rules. You will want to have the cards for each of your figures with you at each game for reference and damage marking purposes.
The quick-start rules are pretty good for getting started, certainly much easier than trying to read the whole rulebook and jumping into games. You can ask around your local stores for things like demo shows or Press Ganger contact information. A Press Ganger is a volunteer spokesperson of sorts; they help arrange local events and get people into the game. They typically have a thorough knowledge of the game and how to help new players get the most out of starting up. They also tend to have battle boxes on hand to demo some small games with you.
Alternative to asking around local stores, simply go here to find a list of available PGs in your area: http://volunteers.privateerpress.com/location/users
The good people over at Privateer Press Forums have also done a good job writing up articles for new players:

You might want to get a shield and some armor because your friends will all hate you.
Seriously, shield and armor. Do it now...

Cryx
I'm just joking around. Cryx gets a lot of heat from people especially new players. Just like Legions does. If they cry too hard because you're giving them a good spanking, refer them to PAGE 5.
WELCOME TO WARMAHORDES!

There are a few things you can do to mitigate both the hate and be a better player (both in skill and as a fun opponent). Cryx has about four ways to deal with any given threat, so don't feel like you are missing out by holding off on these.
1. Avoid Bile Thralls. These guys clear out everything within 6" of their front hemisphere. Each. They are great, but hold off on fielding them until your opponents learns threat evaluation. It also keeps you from relying on these guys to deal with infantry.
2. Avoid the Deathjack. He is amazing, but he is also 12pts and can die like any other warjack. In early games 12pts is nearly half your army, so spread out the points love for a while before picking him up. It will help you see what he can really do once you get a stronger grasp of the game, and your opponents will again learn how to deal with the threat so won't hate you when he runs over half their army.
3. Avoid eGaspy. Epic Asphyxious is so unfriendly that I would only play him in a tournament or when preparing for a tournament. Granted, you could (rightfully) say the same thing about our battle box caster Warwitch Deneghra (pDenny) but at least you can take steps with her that won't piss off your opponent. The very nature of eGaspy angers people and there's no helping it.

The very nature of cryx angers people and there's no helping honestly. It's like when you play blue in MtG, your opponent will never feel like he was able to take you on in a straight fight (its the nature of being the dirty tricks faction) and therefore will be angry at you in ways he wouldn't be at say... a menoth player who trounced him even more solidly with synergies.

I actually feel this way about Cryx, Legion, Ret, and Pirates... But then again I don't play many different armies, so the journeyman league has been a hell ride of armies I hate to face. But then again, I feel like my trolls have a few tricks up their sleeve, I use them, and they work (like making 6-7 tough rolls with Madrak)... But nothing as "cheap" or as "tricksy hobbitses" as every faction I fight... Like Magnus able to upkeep 4 spells for free every turn, or Kaelyssa moving when I cast a spell on her (I didn't know this, and it cost me a win against our pressganger). Or many other things that just seem to make me go WTF?! and wonder why my faction can't do that...

Just remember that the punishment for fielding the Deathjack is assembling and transporting the Deathjack.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
