Just got this announcement on Steam. So I guess I'll be trying it out tomorrow, yay?

Though somehow I doubt I'll stick with it over Champions or City of Heroes.

Does the game have AI bots you can play with? I'd like to experience the game without some asshat telling me I'm tanking/healing/cc'ing/dps'ing/buffing wrong in caps.

This is... tempting. I'm thinking Villain, Cape, flying, hand blasts and telekinesis. Unoriginal I know, but I love capes and telekinesis!

Actually ... forget AI bots... is there at least an auction house where I can charge ludicrous amounts of gold for linen cloth?

I might have to pick it up myself, then, too.

Is everyone saying Villains?

In that case, can I be your nemesis? This requires planning, what type of characters are you guys planning on being?

Edit: No sense in being a spiritual threat if your both Techies, yes?

IDK. It works for Iron Man and Manderin

Mandarin uses alien rings for his powers, so he's still technically Technology. (At least, that's how Marvel Ultimate Alliance said it).

I'm probably gonna do an inspired by -> The Question character, heavily modified of course. I do like Montoya as a character.

Really? My understanding is that the theme of Iron Man is Science vs Superstition and that the Manderin was the prime example XD Maybe I have it wrong.

Though Science vs Supertsition is still a cool theme

I remember watching the Justice League TV series, and while I didn't much like Unlimited, I did think episodes with the Question were utterly awesome. Especially the one where he's being interrogated. I had no idea that toothpaste made me trackable by satellite!

Rorschach isn't as cool as either question or batman...

Yes, I know, heresy. Certain other characters in that comic were better than Rorschach.

Mind you, I still absolutely love that image from Final Crisis Revelations (I think that was the one...), with Hitler holding the Lance of Longinus surrounded by heroes and villains... that... was BRILLIANT... Revelations in general was awesome, and Renee was no exception...

Nah I agree. I actually didn't much like Watchmen. Alan Moore produces interesting work, but it is boring to read it. The guy likes to hear himself talk to much and he has his characters do the talking. Even V for Vendetta I found boring to read.

Personally, if I tried DCU which I probably will, I'd probably make a character like the Punisher or Daredevil

If you liked JLU, Question's awesomeness in the Brave and the Bold episodes he's in is just as epic.

Spoiler:
He goes undercover... IN APOKALIPS... disguised as a parademon... and shuts down all of the boom tubes and still manages to get out-- unharmed. After he put up a fairly decent running fight against Kalibak at the beginning of the episode and mysteriously disappeared afterwards.

I haven't much watched Brave and the Bold. I like and appreciate the retro style it goes for, but the show is far too corny for my tastes. Maybe I'll hunt down that episode though.

So far, I've really be loving Young Justice. Since we never got a 6th season of Teen Titans, Young Justice is right up my alley, and I love the animation, style, and development of the series so far (Though Joker was... off).

DCUO's combat is much better than any MMO out there, and the story archs are actually fully voiced by the people you know and love, but otherwise, it's a complete mess that managed to throw every generic element of MMOs in the mix and fail completely. Player interaction is terrible (mostly because of the PS3 UI), Loot exists but there's nowhere near enough of it (and so it seems pointless and restrictive), group play is a total clusterfeth with absolutely no hint of strategy or teamwork, you get randomly dropped into the middle of a questline quite often with no rhyme or reason, the (finally) implemented auction house serves no purpose, etc.

It did include a few slightly cool elements that seem like they belong in a single player game (like movement power challenges ripped straight from games like Prototype and Infamous, Locations that are actually meticulously created and fun to explore, and a fully-featured physics engine), but it's nothing that will save this absolute mess of a game. I seriously doubt even free players will take this game seriously for more than a month.

So I tried logging in and it says... wrong password.

I do a password reset, use the new password-- aaaand wrong password.

Turns out it isn't the wrong password.

It's just that they're incompetent coders who are incapable of providing more than one type of error message-- the servers are actually down for maintenance (which is fine really, I'm logging in at an odd time because I got out of classes early and have some time to spend before my next obligation), which most MMO devs would tell you upon trying to log in but DCUO doesn't.

Not exactly a good first impression, devs...

Not only that, the very day that they released free to play, they bug up their launcher.

Sony just can't catch a break with DCUO. Three separate bugs have been quashed in succession all in one day, all of which were preventing peole from even getting in game. And now they have another one.

To be fair, it's free now, and TF2 wasn't that impressive when it first released.

Well I tried to play, but I'll be darned whenever I'm in character creation the game just says 'no' and sends me back to the server selection screen at random.

So much for that experiment.

The US PC server is down right now is why.

Yes. Server-- singular. There's only one server for all US PC players. And one for all EU PC players.
