OK, get it out. It's fake, it gay because they are half naked.

Feel better about yourself?

good.

So does anyone like pro-wrestling or ever liked it? There was a time when people watched pro-wrestling and were not considered "losers". This was mainly the attitude era. Seems like most of those people have gone on to MMA/UFC stuff.

I've been watching pro wrestling since I was 3, I told my 1st grade teacher I wanted to be a wrestler. She laughed. But when all the other kids wanted to be an astronaut, or a doctor she does applaud them. Or how about that one weird kid who was going to have several occupations? A veterinarian ballet dancer. Or the Lawyer and pro-football player. Nothing wrong with that. But being a pro wrestler? Crazy.

Never understood why wrestling has had such a big stigma. It's either seen as gay, fake or promotes violence. I've always seen wrestling as one of the biggest contributors to American culture along with comic books, baseball, football.

Now my career path has changed (special education). But I still live part of my dream. I went to a wrestling school for about 2 years. I and I perform at indy shows from time to time. Last show I was at I went through a table and sliced my back on the metal leg and had 80-some stitches. There is nothing more satisfying than doing a stunt that gets the crowd to shout "Holy S#!t" or insult the fans and get them to boo and throw things at you and rip apart their stupid signs.

Does WWE count as pro-Wrestling?
Its more of a sitcom really isn't it, I used to watch it all the time, but after my Mum decided Sky Sports was too expensive, and me not being able to afford it at Uni either. I just haven't seen it in a while, and half the wrestlers I knew seem to have left in just 2-3 years.

Any sport/anything attracts bad attention from people, some more than others. Wrestling does seem to get quite a lot of the comments you mentioned, but if you like it thats fine nothing wrong with liking it really.

That is not why it is gay. It is gay becuase many of them are attracted to people of the same sex, and gosh darn it, they deserve the same rights as the rest of us.

That is that fake magical time when it was cool to play D&D in high school right?

I used to like it a lot, Undertaker is the man! I knew it was "fake" but still physically demanding and requiring a lot of skill with a real risk of getting hurt. Liked going to live shows even though they are even more obviously fake, but great atmosphere. Just like you enjoy getting the crowd pissed, the crowd enjoys getting to heckle you.

Its soaps for guys/teens with lots of physical elements thrown in.

I don't think I ever really started to dislike it, just started to like other things better. It is also kind of hard to just start watching again since you have no idea what everyone is fighting and arguing about.

I was a kid duringt the eighties and watched that era: Hogan, Andre the Giant, Iron Sheik, Roddy Piper, etc.

Good times.

I really havent watched it since then. Sort of like once you realize that Santa isn't real you stop going to sit on his lap at the mall...

Hulk Hogan body slamming Andre the Giant. Hulk Hogan vs. The Warrior.

Those were some great matches.

Is that why my group of friends and I were shunned in highs school? Makes sense...

sure I used to watch it back during my pre teen years...Me and my brother stayed up late to watch Steve Austin, the Rock, the Undertaker, all those "hardcore" guys pretend to beat the snot out of each other...

Nowadays I see it for what it is...a violent soap opera...haven't really watched it since early high school though...

I love pro-wrestling. Some of my favorite wrestler's include Christ Benoit, HHH, and The Rock. I like the Japanese stuff too... they have some awesome moves. I haven't watched much of the shows lately. Usually because I don't watch TV in general any more. But I used to love watching Smackdown and then another show that they'd have Sunday Mornings. I've mostly watched the WWF/WWE stuff... a teensy weensy bit of the WCW stuff... and barely anything of the TNA stuff.

One of my favorite games on the N64 is WWF No Mercy. I still hook up the system to play it once in a while.

The attitude era.

Knew more people who watched wrestling than ever before.

Saw people wearing wrestling shirts (like the NWO shirt or the Stone Cold smokin' skulls shirt) that didn't even watch it. It became so big it spilled over to "non-fans"

It was also that small period where their were more viewers for Monday Night Raw than monday night football.

Through the looking glass

Can't tell why, but wrestling back in the day was semi enjoyable, like back when Jake the Snake and Hulk Hogan were around. I guess back then, wondering if wrestling was fake or not was a legitimate train of thought. I watched the stuff they put on now and it seems like watching my grandmas soaps, only the acting is a LOT worse.
