I am planning on getting into Warriors of Chaos when I got my school check back and would like all the help I can get in creating a good 1500 point list.

I want to use Knights and I want to use Orges(Cause i have some minotaur models I was to convert into them)

Otherwise any lists or advice would be greatly enjoyed as what is decided on here is what I will buy come January!

If you decide to go trolls, there is a special character named Throgg that will allow you to take trolls as core.

otherwise, 8th edition is largely about rank and file infantry and you are going to want to invest in chaos warriors (which are so money) and chaos marauders.

Well give me an idea of a list that would incorporate both trolls and Chaos Warriors

You like knights? so do i ! With Razor Banner + Mark of Khorn = Both Hammer and Anvil best at crushing str4 elite troops.

Trolls supported by warriors is pretty nice and does a lot of damage.
Trolls in the front or flank and warriors in the front or flank. Hard to kill and hard hitting.

So trolls and Knights are a must...Got it!

Chaos Trolls with a baby sitter can punch through mostly anything (I run a unit of 24...)

Warriors with Haleberds, mark of Khorne and BSB with banner will slaugther anything that gets near them. Same goes for marauders with Gw, MoK and hero.

Personaly i field marauders 50 man strong with GW and Mok, works wonders, Knigths are fun but I prefer choosen and warshrine, trolls are nice and same are Ogres

24 trolls is great. I want to play against that.

24 trolls will be expensive model wise, Otherwise I was thinking of giving my Warriors the Ward save from I think the "MOT".......

I have made a goal to have a 1500 point list built, painted and based by the end of this semester so I can play in a Fantasy Campaign this summer!

Today I bought my first box of Chaos Knights and will be starting a P&M to document my progress thru this endeavor. I also have a box of Minotaurs on route.

So a 30 brick of Warriors was what I heard talk of today at my FLGS.

30 can be a problem because of debuff spells.

I personally run 18 man units which work great IMO.
People also suggest running 20 per unit, I havent tried that but I mean it would give your some more wounds.

A local guy runs a unit of 40 warrior but as I said debuff spells are quite effective on them.

I would suggest a battalion since it is a pretty good deal and everything in there is awesome.

Over all I would suggest against such a large unit since you dont need it you are warriors you are better than even other races elite infantry.
Invest the points somewhere else that would get you more use.

I would say you could fit 2 units of warriors. For me the 2 units usually total about 700ish points together.

One unit of knights should do the trick.

The main thing is getting some magic in there and if possible a bsb. That is most likely going to be a tight because you only have 375 point for lords and 375 for heroes. So it will take some tinkering to get something you like and something effective.

I play against a completely nurgle army all the time, so go nurgle. Hard to beat, -1 to this -1 to that hard to hit but learned how to beat him with night gobbos. Hehe was he pissed.

Agreed on many of the points being made, including the need for both magic and a BSB @ 1500 points. Would you like a skeleton to work with?

No marks (beyond the knights which are pretty much a no brainer for just five of them) and no additional equipment means you're pretty open on modeling and final seasoning I have further recommendations to make, but I think this is basically the 1500 WoC list, striped down (other lists use their troll / knight points for marauders or hellcannons or *SHOCK* a shaggoth (mine ))

as far as an anvil unit goes, you can't beat warriors with MoT and Shields. 3+ armor, 6+ ward, and in combat the Ward becomes a 5+ if you are fighting to the front.

I run a Tzeentch themed army so I'm a little biased, but I think its a little more user friendly then a Khorne army. Thats because you have complete control over your units, with Khorne there is a the chance you could get drawn out of position and just about everyone knows how to exploit Frenzy.

some of my favored unit setups,

Sorcerer Lord (Lvl4, MoT, Infernal puppet, Talisman of Preservation(4+) Third Eye of Tzeench) 395 pts The lore of Tzeentch is a good one, although sometimes I do wish I could take Shadow and keep my 3+ ward save his ability to steal spells is fun, especially if your opponent has something good like Life or Shadow.

Chaos Lord (Sword of Change, Talisman of Endurance(5+) Charmed Shield) MoT, Bloodcurdling Roar) 340 pts Tzeentch lords can be surprisingly killy, mostly because they punch pretty hard already and then Tzeentch makes them very difficult to kill. The sword of change is a nice weapon, +1 str AND the potential to insta-kill a character or monster is an awsome combo.

20 Chosen (Favor of the Gods, Wailing Banner, Halbards, Shields, MoT) 525 pts This is a Tzeentchy killing machine. 3+ armor vs Shooting, Str5 attacks, WS6, and a very high chance of getting a 3+ ward save and Stubborn(Chosen EotG roll, which is effected by the Wailing Banner and Favor of the Gods, allows you to only get the good rolls and likely get the very good roll)

For my Knights I run them with the Blasted Standard and MoT. 1+ armor, 6+ ward, and a 4+ ward against shooting(especially cannons)

So I bought a box of Knights and am gonna start there, as for the list Salvage, I want to incorporate Throgg and Trolls and Chaos Knights...Is that possible and be battle worthy or should I look at a higher point list?

I have decided to Build, Paint and base a 1500 point list this semester and feature each part on a P&M.

I am starting with the knights and have a box of 3 trolls on the way. So quick question would it be a huge issue if I modeled all them with the lances?

Sure, you can fit Throgg + trolls + knights into 1500, because Big T makes the trolls core, so you can drop some warriors I'm actually not sure what else you want to run in your army, did you care for the skeleton I posted? You can probably replace the BSB with Throgg, replace a unit of warriors with 7 trolls, then give the warriors probably MoT + shields to escort the level 4 and tear things up. Should work well.

Incorporates what you've mentioned, plus has a tizz bunker with pretty rocking level 4. Any of the lores should work well for you - I'm partial to fire myself, and it fills in the list's weakness vs regeneration, particularly with flaming sword of pants 'splosion Shadow is of course Obviously Good though.

As far as lances on your knights go, I heartily suggest you not pay points for them or use them in a game. Ever (or at least until the next book comes out, and maybe not even then!) As to modeling, I myself would prefer that knights with ccw not have lances instead, however I prefer consistency and a lack of confusion in my modeling choices. More than likely your opponent will not mind if your knights simply have 'awesome extremely long-hafted ensorcelled weapons' (though if you care about tournaments and stuff those lances would not by WYSIWYG, strictly speaking).

-Boss- What Skeleton? And your list looks exactly what I was kinda looking for...And as for the lances I just want to throw on or two into the modeling of the squad for a little awesomeness.

Also i have heard mixed reviews on the warhounds, what are the up & downs?

The one down for dogs is horrid LD, but when taking Throgg all your dogs are LD8 and get to reroll panic checks. IE there is no problem with dogs.

Same here, I also saw you had the same idea with the Minotaurs, I thought about playing beastmen just for them but decided to go with WOC because I love the Chaos Knights Models.. I will do some kooky stuff with this army but wanted to get a good solid base army down to paint and build for my P&M which I hope you and Boss will both follow and keep me on my toes to finish it! lolz

Warhounds are cheap and fast, which means they're perfect for two powerfists worth of dirty jobs that will inevitably get them killed The most important is probably sitting at an enemy unit's corner so they can't charge where they want to charge, meaning you get to charge in your turn, with your buffs, for great justice. The least glamorous is likely drawing out fanatics or sitting on mangler squigs. Seriously, play O&G once and you will see how vital a couple packs of puppies are.
