So through this past week I have been seeing all kinds of discussion of SC's and thought we should have a thread just to discuss these iconic heroes of warhammer lore. I for one love Special Characters who change how a army plays or what units they have access too (Throgg, Skrolk, Red Crested Skink Guy, Skragg, ect). So what does dakka think?

I love power houses. You know those guys who can grind entire units to dust? WHFB is full of battles where heroes clash on each other and literally kill half of the enemy army alone. I hate if the character just boosts a unit or unlocks something "special". If it cant leave a mark on the battlefield then I pass. Thats why I play Warriors of chaos. Archaon, Sigvald, Valkia and many more are significant leaders and fantastic fighters. Thats why I little bit hate the 8th edition, since steadfast has ruined the "boon" these heroes bring to the battlefield. Guess I somewhat love "herohammer"... so haters gonna hate

I agree with The Epic Chaosdude. I truly enjoy the powerful heroes who stand alone against monsterous amounts of opponents and come out on top. I also enjoy two powerful heroes duking it out in the middle of a roaring battle. Which is why I always issue and accept challenges! Just for the pure tought of it! (Virtue of Confidence doesnt hurt that love much either )

Just played a game with Karl Franz and I was impressed

I do like the stories of the special characters, for the most part anyway. I personally don't play them though since I think it is more fun to make my own character.
