I have been practicing for the BAO for a while now since the missions are slightly unconventional. I got a game in a while back when I still planned on using my Bjorn led SW list. There is a video and full report here with lists and break down of the match. It features SW v. Grey Knights. The missions, in case you don't know, use all 3 victory conditions from the rule book with alternating deployments. Very interesting but from my experience so far also very prone to draws if you aren't careful.

I hope you enjoy!

Yes, those Draws are rather unexpected huh?

Gimme a bit of time, and we'll look into another BAO mission.

For sure. I didn't expect the draws to be so common with all 3 Victory Conditions being used. I assumed the games would be an easy 2-1 or 1-0 victory every game. But to have played out 7 or 8 draws already out of 13 games with the scenarios I am not sure if it is problems with my own play that is holding me back from wins or the scenarios. I have only lost one so...

Thats interesting you guys ended up with a lot of draws. We found the opposite in the local tournaments we've ran and pick up games we've had. Its actually pretty hard to draw haha.

I've won several and gone 0-1-1 against overwatch. You definitely have to pick which portions of the mission you are trying for and pay attention to them.

KP seem to be forgotten til the last turn in most games. Prolly just a result of seeing objectives on the board, though.

Italiaplayer any advice you may have would be most welcome!

I think Dok may be on to something, i tend to focus on only seize ground and play to protect my KPs even though my GK lists usually win kp missions easily... some food for thought there thanks dok. We should get another practice in again soon.

I played in a tournament this weekend that used the same format and I don't think we had any draws. I know in my games I focused on winning Sieze Ground and contesting Cap and Control while killing everything I could. Seemed to work out alright.

You really just have to work to your armies strengthens, and focus on 2 of the objectives but still remember to use the 3rd mission. Placement of both types of objectives is very important. You have to set the game how you want it to be played out with your army/ play style.

With my Daemons I usually place my capture and control objective further away from the rest of objectives in a corner so I can just drop a camper unit there far away from everything. I then continue to place my seize ground objectives where I want the majority of the battle to take place. My list is very resilient and has a small KP count. So working to my strengthens I naturally go for Kps and camping seize ground objectives with my other troop units. My camper unit on my capture and control objective denies his. By controlling all 3 mission types early, I force my opponent to show me his next move. which I can then counter by dropping my 2nd wave ( or 1st wave if the dice gods hate me) where it needs to be. Just pick a list that works best for you with these missions. Easier said then done, but try it out haha.
