ive been asked to start a blog, i've never done anything like this before in my life.

i would love any tips on any part of my models, but please understand i have never played 40k, and i know im not a good painter.

this is one of many scratch built vehicles i have, every thing is made from plastic card apart from the tracks and wheels,

For Thor665 -there is a hole in the model where the fuel tank is and the back of the rockets are, thats where i put a bar to attach the wings, i use plastic tubes, but if i was going to do it again, then i would of used brass, place a large one in the hole, so that a smaller one can slide into it, make it a snug fit, this all so help with painting, you can still remove the wings, once painted, then glue in place.

also another tip, i love DeffKopptas as a model with loads of conversion aspect's, the model it self is well bad, so when i use one, i try to use all the bit that i take off it, as my bit box is not very big. when you come to make the rotor blades, trim off the ends, so it does look like it will lands and not F**k up the blades on landing, coz there are loads of models out there that look awful and a small touch like that makes all the difference.

This Looted wagon is one of my fav's, i love the Iraq Style Bar Armour, all made from plastic card, it touch some time making, but i think looks the bizz, the twin DakkaDakka's on top and ment to be Heavy, like the heavy bolter that comes with the model, this was made from scratch to. love it.

I'm a huge fan of making the deffcopta into a prop plane as I've toyed with trying to do a biplane before - any advice with how you did your build of it? What worked well, what didn't?

i wanted to make a tank, but had no wheels or tracks left and GW has stopped making them, so i went with a looted style vehicle and made it from a rhino, i thought it went well, there are some things i might chance next time i make this, we will have to see.

Wow. This is truly some of the most amazing, inspirational scratch built stuff I have ever seen. And that should mean a lot, because like any inspiration-hungry mek out there I have spent hours scouring the internetz for scratchbuilds...

I am definitely subbed for more. Your painting is fantastic too. And, I really like your homemade big shootas- would you consider selling some?

Now look at that! I browse the blog page, find an intersting title, go there...... and find these awesome conversions i have already seen in the gallery a few days before. Looking at the creators' profile page a few days ago, I discovered that he has not yet started a blog. I pm him and tell him to start one, but then i forget about it because im visiting denmark with my family.
Now i get bored, start dakka, and find this blog! what a coincidence!

Really awesome models here, im sure gonna copy some of these ideas!

LOOK!! a shameless self-promotion! (gasp!)

i get ALL my plastic card and plastic tubs from my local model train shop in York, but i've also got some from a Flying model shop in Leeds, i dont like buying it Online, as i like to see the stuff befor i buy it, like some of the card, the really thin stuff to the thick stuff, i like to see what i'm working with.

just google "model shops in ......................." (you Local town) and i bet you get about 4 or 5 you had no clue were there, then ring them and ask if they sell it, then bob's your uncle, your working with plastic card you wanted all along.

too Matphat - the GW ork truck is a very good kit, loads of stuff on it to use in conversion and scratch building, so i there for do not encourage anyone yo copy GW stuff, as they get very funny about it, yeh you can buy them on ebay, but for the price they sell them for its not worth it.

i got a casting and moulding kit on Monday, just to give it a try, lets put it this way, eBay no longer has my business when it come to wheels, but ill always get my Deffkopta's from there, rule of thumb is never pay more than £3.50 inc postage for them and ill never run out of wheels again.

Really good scratchbuilds, Do you generally have a plan before you start because it looks like you do a lot of pre-measuring and cutting of the plasticard before assembling the basic framework for your designs, Very rarely see so much precision in orky builds.

i never plan anything, i see some thing i build it, i like some thing i built it. its all in my head, i can sort of see the finished model in my head and then that's my goals, some times i base my models on real vehicles, so that makes it easy for me to make them, but other than that, its all in my head.
