Hi all. 40ko has been down for too long and I need my fix, so I figured it was about time to set up some more accounts. This is my third hello thread today after warseer and b&c. Saving the best til last, naturally.
I've been an addict since the end of 2ed 40k (eldar, orks, ba/sm) and have also played fantasy (skaven, high elves) for a few years. Recently gaming is on the back burner and I'm currently on a mission to collect an all metal, all 90s eldar army (tanks excepted). For some reason I'm having the most trouble with troops: guardians, avengers and scouts are all rare as hen's teeth round here, not to mention jetbikes. Oddly enough trademe doesn't have the range of ebay... nice to live at the arse end of the world.
That's another thing; I've not given a dollar to games workshop in ten years, though that's more pragmatism than politics and may change if I ever get a 'real' job. I love this hobby but my bank doesn't. Drugs* aren't cheap either, so it's a balancing act.
Anyway, I look forward to meeting the community and pretending to know what I'm talking about. You'll find me in the tactics forum even though I haven't played more than 5 games in fifth. I'd show off my work, but I've no camera, and it's always wip.
Chur,
VennM

Welcome to Dakka. You will spend a lot of money if you want an all metal Eldar army. I played in 2nd edition so I have Eldar, Blood Angels, Goff and small Khorne lead armies and they weigh a ton if want to carry them around. To save some money reduce the alcohol consumption and stop smoking.

Sound advice. Plus, the heavy army will get me fitter - bonus! You're right, though: my HE weigh a ridiculous amount and less than half of them are metal. O well, you make your bed...
I buy mostly second hand and find that even oop stuff tends to be significantly cheaper than new product, especially if I can recoup some of that cost by offloading the newer models that I don't want.

Hi,
Welcome to Dakka great to see another Kiwi on the boards, an old school 90's Eldar force would be something great to collect.
I completely agree with you that it is a shame we live at the arse end of the world, there are so many people on here I would like to meet and have a game against however can't due to geographical location.

If you've played since 2nd edition I can see why you wouldn't have had to spend a dollar the last decade . Wish I had that restraint
Welcome!

Mainly because the classic Goodwin designs don't come in resin. And with metal, if things go south I can always belt them at my opponent
