Note: I was asked to open this Transaction Report at the request of RiTides. I am not a regular user of Dakka Dakka but thought this matter sufficiently serious to bring it to your attention.

Please consider this report a warning based on this user's behaviour over several years on a number of other forums. I'd urge anyone dealing with this user to read the following post compiled by Eric over on BarterTown: http://www.bartertown.com/trading/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=158855

For my own part I am owed £28 - or rather the miniatures I bought with that money - for a trade conducted with him on TWF, and I am far from alone. He has a long and storied history of back outs and outright fraud. I urge anyone who has paid this user any money through PayPal and has yet to receive their goods to file a dispute with them immediately.

Begging your pardon, Freylis, but what is "TWF"? Is that another site like BT and Dakka?

Im owed 3 x Sgt Centurius or the £200 i paid including shipping.

The.fraud was only brought to my attention once Mods on Dakka brought it to my attention.

David Andersen failed to provide Tracking after 2 weeks of being paid and was uncontactable.

PayPal dispute claim has been lodged.

Please keep informing the greater community of this person's true nature.

Not a problem- keep us updated on the progress with Paypal! There should be enough evidence out there that this should be an easy decision for them (you might consider referencing the Bartertown thread in your claim).

Thanks for posting this as I've been wondering where the Guard stuff was that I bought off him. I will be raising a claim with paypal post-haste.

He ceased communicating as soon as the paypal payments went through and hasn't removed the ordered items from the swap shop thread, which should have been a bit of a hint.

Frankenberry just posted his dealings with Godsized here. I've locked the thread and asked for him to update over here, so affected parties can work together on this and the information can be all in one place.

Reposting from my thread.

Note: I checked the USPS site, it's been delivered. I'm officially screwed. It took him almost a week to go to the office and pick it up.

Also note, I'm not sure what to do now. Contacting Royal Mail appears to be impossible, aside from an email form which I filled out stating the issue. Although, I don't hold much hope.

Don't suppose anyone is willing to go break the guy's leg's for me?

This report is concerning the user: Godsized
Total elapsed time since last contact: Two weeks (close to three)

My location: USA
Godsized location: UK

Over the past 1-2 months I've had a Swap Shop post with various Warmahordes items for trade/sale.

On Jan. 28th 2012, I received a pm from Godsized concerning the Legion army I had posted, along with the remaining Circle of Orboros figures. In return, Godsized offered a large collection of 40k items, some FW kits, some assembled but mostly everything was NOS.

On Jan. 29th 2012, we came to an agreement over what would be traded (we decided to go retail price for retail price) which amounted to $550 worth of Warmahordes (all of the Legion listed along with the remaining Circle) for: Zhufor, 2 x CSM squads, Khorne Termies, Baneblade, 1 Cadian Command Squad, 1 x Cadian squad, Winged Tyrant, 1 x FW Ripper Swarm, 2 x Warriors,1 x Carnifex which also amounted close to $550.

Over the course of the next week, Godsized and I attempted to work out a shipping date that worked for him (he was dealing with a flu-ridden family). We finally agreed on Feb. 5th to ship on the following day, Feb. 6, a Monday.

That was the last communication I'd received from Godsized. I've attempted multiple email contacts and PMs. Unfortunately I didn't get his phone number (a mistake I will not repeat in the future). I understand that life has it's way of destroying well-laid plans, believe me. But two weeks without so much as a burp?

Using my customs form I was able to track it through the USPS site and the last update was Feb. 15th with the note - Payment of charges - Item being held, addressee being notified. Which raises the argument that he may not have time to ship/pick up the items. But without any communication, I can't make that call.

I dislike having to do this, but if it results in some sort of communication from this person or even a resolution, then it's worth it.

Update:

I've been trying to figure out a way to contact the local authorities...and as I'm currently in the US, I'm having a heck of a time finding the local PD in his area.

Any Dakkanauts across the pond able to give me a hand?

I'd like to ask that, if anyone comes up with any NEW information, please PM it to me here or on Bartertown.

I dug up a lot of that information on my own, but I'm always looking and willing to add more (and give you credit, if you ask).

Thanks.

Well, I contacted the Gateshead office, which were super helpful in getting me in contact with Durham Trading Standards department, a local office that handles trades (presumably) across the world.

They're closed now of course, being a Government firm and all. Will give'em a call tomorrow and see what they can do.

Note: When speaking with the officer from Gateshead she mentioned that it wasn't a felony because there was no money involved. The PD apparently weren't going to get involved because of that, which actually makes sense.

I would respectfully disagree with the officer in Gateshead . They just don't want to get involved for such small amounts and fobbed you off. It is still fraud and theft because there is monetary value attached to the articles - the UK, not matter how far down hill it is going still has rules against it.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

The officer is correct. These matters are civil cases in the UK.
Its a bit like you guys turning up to speak to Judge Judy and asking her for your cash or goods or a cash equivalent for your goods.
They may on occasion take a statement from the accused but that will be the limit of their involement.

I have been trying to help over on TWF regarding this guy (I'm known as Starscream there).

I live in Gateshead, i actually live close to the Police station, if the people affected could collate all the info I'd be willing to call by.

I think it might be frowned upon if I was to swing by his place and Mod edit: please don't post any inference of violence on Dakka, joking or not (I do have his name, address and telephone number though incase he is reading this).

I didn't figure the PD would actually get involved, not for something that didn't involve actual money. And to be honest, I'm surprised I didn't get laughed at and hung up on.

Sleazy, what information do you need? I can compile the items I sent, their value, and his mailing information if you like and PM it to you if that'd help.

ideally if I could get that for everyone he's ripped off I would call by and speak to them. He is still around n the area and at the end of the day he is stealing money.

Contacted the local "Better Trades" department and told them the situation. They referred me back to the police. So as far as the official way of fixing thing is concerned, I'm done.

Anyone have any luck through Paypal?

Norseman, over on Bartertown, did a great job of compiling things and getting the UK police involved when "The_Trader" was scamming people a while ago.
Someone might consider contacting him and asking him for advice and suggestions on how he got the police willing to be involved.

Having sleazy stop by to bring the evidence to the police in-person may not be a bad idea, if someone is willing to compile those affected (who are scattered across several sites now: TWF, Bartertown, and here).

Sleazy, I did have to edit your above post- any inference of violence, joking or not, is against Dakka's rules.

Also, as sleazy pointed out, he has Godsized's contact information, so if anyone needs it contacting sleazy would be a good idea.

If there would be no problem with me doing it, I would be happy to compile all of the information for Sleazy to bring to the police. I will comb through this thread and search out the TWF and BT threads, but I'll need as many people as possible to PM me what personal information they have for him (as it can't be posted in the thread).

Also, if each person scammed could compile an exact record of all of their correspondence (quotes, not summaries, if possible... preferably time/date stamped) with Godsized and send it to me, I will compile a master record for Sleazy.

Would this work for everyone?

Hi guys

Just a quick note that a lot of TWF users have had refunds issued from paypal.

Paypal is still working it's way through the claims process for me, but it's only been 7 days since I opened the case so it's early days yet.

A few days ago he decided to supply Paypal with some tracking information; sadly it made no sense to man or monkey as he'd put a number in the company name and nothing in the tracking code field.

Still no replies to PMs or emails and no comments from him on the paypal claim either.

[update - 28/feb/2012]

I just got an email from Paypal saying they found in my favour and have managed to get the money back.

Any update from Sleazy for anyone? I tried the local PD again, got a guy that said there wasn't much they could do without proof.

I offered to email him correspondence indicating a trade of goods along with mailing information. He didn't seem too interested.
