Hello, first post here!

I would like some advice on my new list.

HQ
Vulkan -190
Master of the Forge -100

Troops
10 Tactical squad, MM, Combiflamer, Rhino -215
10 Tactical squad, ML, Combiflamer, Rhino -215

Elites
5 Assault Terminators (2 LC & 3 TH/SS) -200
5 Assault Terminators (3 LC & 2 TH/SS) -200
6 Sternguard, 5 combi-melta, Rhino - 210

Heavy
1 Rifledread (2x Twin linked Autocannons) -125
1 Rifledread (2x Twin linked Autocannons) -125

1 Landraider, (2 Twinlinked lascannons & Heavy bolter), Multi Melta - 260

1840

Vulkan rides with one unit of terminators in the LR. The other unit of terminators i plan to deepstrike in the enemies deployment zone.

Deepstriking assault terminators is probably a little unconventional, but i'm looking for a way to disrupt my opponents back field.
I find it had to shift an opponent of his home objective, using landspeeders i can deepstrike in and with a little luck flame or multimelt some backfield unit. However most of the times i just put a dent in a unit but not kill it outright.
With the staying power of the assualt terminators i hope to deepstrike in and charge/contest the objective.
In killpoint games the landspeeders are also extremely easy targets, again the terminators should be able to take more than a few heavy weapon shots.

looking good? or are landspeeders the way to go and i'm just doing it wrong?

Not enough troops, as this points level you need three.

A single Land Raider is also asking for problems. It's going to get blasted because it's a big ass target. If you're going to take Land Raiders then they should be in pairs.

When doing Vulkan lists you should squeeze in as much melta as possible. The best way to get this melta into range a.s.a.p is via Drop Pods. I would consider Drop Pods instead of Rhinos and on the Pods put locator beacons so units like the Terminators can assault without any problems.

Land Speeder are cool, give them multi melta and heavy flamer or double multi meltas . Keep them in reserve and move them flat out when they come on. This will get them a cover save and get them into range quickly.

Check out my blog www.imperiusdominatus.com there's quite a few Salamanders lists on there.

Hope that helps

thanks for the reply!

I dont think i will go for a full drop pod list but thats a matter of taste. Tacticals standing next to a droppod allways look so squishy to me. I like to keep em warm and comfy in their rhino's. Will consider the second LR.

I will also (re)consider adding land speeders. I used to deepstrike the speeders and they would just get shot up the following turn. I'll try moving them on from my board edge and turbo boost for a cover save like you said.

Do you think adding the MOTF for the dreads justified? or should i just stick with a librarian and add speeders?

The moft is only needed if you want to either take or elite choices or maximum Dreadnoughts. If you're not doing that, then the motf isn't required.

The dreads are out of place in this list. You are making an assault marine list with the termies but supporting it from long range? You are also not capitalizing on the melta part of Vulcan by using them. This also means the MOTF is out of place.

With 2 units of termies, you need another delivery system. One unit deepstriking is not a threat. It is a sitting duck. Your units need to support each other more.

I drop pod an ironclad in (melta/heavy flamer). I also scout 2 land speeder storms with combi melta scouts on the same side as the dread. Thats how I support him. 5 targets he has to deal with turn one. I also race 2 vindi's and a redeemer to midfield for a turn 2 threat. I'm not saying you should play my list, only giving it as an example of how to support units.
