Deadly Dire Avenger

Arizona

I haven't played in about two years but eagerly am wanting to return. I've seen that alot has changed in that time especially with GK, Necrons, and DE...

Here's my old list; how would it fair in today's tournaments?
HQ
Eldrad Ulthran - 210pts
The Avatar of Khaine - 155

Elites
5 Fire Dragons - 80
-Wave Serpent - TL Bright Lance, Spirit Stones - 145

Troops
10 Guardian Defenders - Scatter Laser – 95
10 Guardian Defenders - Scatter Laser – 95
10 Guardian Defenders - Scatter Laser - 95
10(11) Wraithguard - Warlock w/ Enhance - 390
5 Dire Avengers - 60
-Wave Serpent - TL Bright Lance, Star Engines, Spirit Stones - 160

Heavy Support
3 War Walkers (Squadron) - 6 Scatter Lasers - 180
3 War Walkers (Squadron) - 6 Scatter Lasers - 180
Total - 1845

I call it Castle-Dar, because it creates a firebase inside cover or creates it's own cover with the guardian masses. The dire avengers are last minute objective grabbers, the wraithguard takes on anything. Eldrad usually sits in the serpent with the DA's or joins the WG. The Avatar... Well he just gets angry and causes problems in the center. The guardians are great for infantry as well the the WW's

Thanks

...You have pretty much no way of handling heavy armor, no mobility at all, a low troop count, one of the most inefficient Troops units possible...you'll probably get your ass handed to you. Troops in competitive Eldar armies generally ought to either be mechanized Dire Avenger squads or have more useful heavy weapons than scatter lasers (which are nice versatile all-round weapons...since when did the Eldar do nice versatile all-round units well at all? Any generalist unit in the list is far outclassed by the specialist units). The tournament scene tends to prefer mechanized Dire Avenger and Fire Dragon units backed up by Fire Prisms these days.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

Umm.. Against heavy armor I have the fd's, the avatar, bright lances, eldrad and the WG.

I have 5 troops choices

2 Years ago this list won in 3 local tourneys. It faced mech IG, SM pods, Necrons (old) and the new nidz. It came close at times but nothing was able to penetrate held objectives or the firbase and it's difficult to get kp's from it.

My question is, how would it fair against DE, SW, GK and anything else that has been updated in the last 2 years

Its a solid foundation for what is commonly called footdar though the wave serpents really don't fit in. Harlequins are a good counter assault unit that would bea good use of those points and would better fit the general foot theme you have going with the rest of the list. A wraithlord is another unit commonly found in foot lists to add some decent anti tank capability whilst adding another counter assault unit.

As AnomanderRake said mech is considered the more competitive build but there are still some people who do well with the foot builds. If you decide to go the foot route be prepared for a steep learning curve though.
