To go along with the movement down in Malifaux, Infinity and other skirmish games and to promote the game a little.

I've been playing this game for a number of years now. It's pretty much the reason I stopped playing 40k.
My painting is nothing to write home about (and will not be improving. combination of bad eyesight and nerve damage brought on tremors insures that) but it is good enough for me which is all this counts. This is not a blog showing off how awesome my painting or modelling is (I know it isn't). It's one to plug what I think is an awesome game

My JSA.
I've gone for the side-faction (in this game, called a sectorial) - the Japanese separatist army (JSA). Yu-Jing is primarily Chinese unit dominated (they have gathered the rest of the FACS into one body - not without some friction). The JSA is a faction within this force that has overthrown the yoke of Imperial dominion of their Chinese overlords, and as a result, has only Japanese units (so no shaolin monks, cheap bulletshields, etc). On the upside, this means more ninja and samurai units.

Speaking of which, here are three of these sneaky ninja types.

Ninja (left) has TO camo, infiltrate and an armor piercing ccw (and a gun. This game is about shooting more than chop-socky). Halves your armour bonus for saves.
Oniwaban (Shogun's master gardener - keeper of the poisons). Uber-ninja. Has a monofilament ccw (ignores all armour. Saves are v damage 12 or die) and TO camo and infiltrate.
Oniwaban Shinobu kitsune (aka "foxy" Shinobu). An even better Oniwaban. TO camo, better infiltration, the same mono ccw as the lesser version and smoke grenades.

Speaking of sneaky ninja types ...
This is my Saito Togan, mercenary ninja. Going for a "ramen western" styled pose. Sword drawn, head bowed look (the one oft used by Lee Van Cleef in old westerns). He has his own theme music ("the ecstacy of gold" done on a shakuhachi)

The techno-samurai. The Domaru butai.

These are the close-assault specialists. They have chain-rifles (fragmentation cannons) that use the old style (2nd ed) heavy flamer template (it's huge).
They also have a CC skill of 19 and the berserk skill (if they cause a wound, they charge forwards in order to take you out in cc. When that happens, they get a +9 bonus to their cc skill (28). Now, Infinity uses a d20, so how does this work? For every point OVER 20, subtract it instead. So, 8 points over, means it will probably hit you in cc, and cause a critical wound on a 12 or more on that roll).

The Aragoto Senkenbutai. Disaffected youth with motorcycles and guns. Bosozoku. With a karakuri. Fembot with several guns, good movement and a self-destruct charge (suicide unit). It's a robot.

This is one of the faction's TAGs (Tactical Assault Gear - a battlesuit. Bigger than powered armour. The two pairs of arms are because the larger ones are slaved to the motions of the operator (small ones). This is actually the Yu-Jing "Guijia" TAG, but I'm proxying it as the JSA TAG (the O-yoroi) since I'm not a fan of the Evangelion inspired design of that one - hence the rising sun paint job. I remodelled the hook sword into a katana and put the HMG into the other hand.

Lately, though, I've been working on terrain. I'm not one for collecting "All of it" and there are many months when there are no infinity models released that I actually want (when you consider I also have 6 armies as well, this is a large chunk of releases I just don't get). OTOH, when I see a nice piece of terrain I want, I will get it. I'm more a maker than a gamer. My hobby is more towards the assembly and painting of the figures/terrain than the playing of games with them.

The latest terrain pieces are my Warmill Lo-Rise (from their C*A*S*Hstak line) building. A mate bought it ages ago but life got in the way and he lost the motivation to finish it off (it was about half assembled). It's a massive piece - 8" tall, about 14" or so long and 15" or so wide at its widest).

Their (Warmill) pictures show it with the half size module between the large ones, like this:

I wanted something that would afford cover at ground level from higher vantage points, so have the larger sections overhanging the smaller one, cantilevered. This did, however, mean I had to find a suitable support for them as they do want to tip forwards (they are a wedge shape, so centre of mass is forward of physical centre). Enter an old dice cube box.

The stairs are the fire escape set (gives you two sets of stairs and landings). This gives access to the levels. There's also an elevator option at the narrow end (the rear): shown here.

Once assembled, I started adding graffitti to it.

and other decorations (advertising posters).

The roof level got a grassed area 9there are benches that go along those low walls, too) and a large planter.

Models look great, man, have you tried washes on them yet? Apparently Infinity minis take them extremely well due to all of the minute details.
Looks like you've got some cool terrain as well. Any chance of pictures?
I really like that you gave a break down of what the models can do, it's nice for those who play and those who don't

They've ALL been washed.
I undercoat in white. A wash is used to define armour panels.
Badab Black is used when I want a harsh black line for armour panel definition (like the domaru and Keisotsu).
The PanO stuff got Asurmen blue (because of the blue panels.) and he wrist-comp-thingys on the Domaru/keisotsu got blue wash into the blue bit.

The reds all got a baal red wash to deepen the colour.

They got a wash of devlan mud or gryphonne sepia on the flesh (Keisotsu got the sepia wash for the more asiatic skin tone).

I don't paint details I can't see (because I can't see them well enough to paint them anyway).

Haven't got around to updating this in a while.

Having too many fusiliers for a Neoterran Sectorial (only AVA5) and not planning on playing vanilla much, I've decided to make some of them into "auxilia" units (hence the helmets) - because I'm not actually a fan of the actual auxilia soldier sculpts (or the four eyed thing).

They have actual Auxbots (which I'm still painting up). Pics in the next few days of those units.
Hopefully I'll have some pics of my JSA and Aleph up around then, too (yes, I have branched into a third army).

No fourth Infinity force for me, though. I've been swayed into a small (1750pts or so) FoW army instead.

OK, so after acquiring some Auxbots, those helmeted 'fusiliers' have been promoted to "auxilia" instead.

In addition, I've added a few units to my Yu-Jing Japanese Sectorial. Akusa Kisaragi and the merc, Yojimbo.

This is the model I was using for Yojimbo (had to wait for a box of Aragoto to come in, and I had this biker anyway). With the spare helmet from the Y-J spec-ops model.

And the model that replaced him. Modified the spitfire so that it looked more like the contender (filed down the drum mag to make it look more like the regular mag of the contender).

Kisaragi.

She's doing a skid turn (hence the smoke trail).

The gang (bosozoku). Yojimbo, Kisaragi and two other Aragoto.

Some progress.

I have assembled and painted an Iguana TAG for my QK force.
As their is no Iguana model, yet, I took a Lizard and modified it. Simply a matter of rotating it 90* so that what was the head now formed part of the torso/hips join and the hips were bored out to accomodate this. The old master arm holes were bogged up with GS. Some GS was used to add an area to the front of the torso to make it look like a HI could be there - landmate style. The head is a spare tail piece from an Aleph rebot. I made up the TR 360 HMG and GML bots.

Fluffwise, the operator of the Iguana (NOT Pilot) is a Heavy Infantry model, who is wearing the Iguana as a part exo-suit, part TAG.

I also gave the master arms the HMG as these are the ones that would be holding it when he ejects.

Mobile Brigada with modified head.

The Stooges' minders. Hafza and Djanbazan HMG. Hafza have Holo1 and can look like any other model in my armylist (not just ones I have on my actual list). Like 2 more Djans.
The Djan has an MSV2 and is the anti-camo defence.

The brigada and the stooges (they travel with Iggy).

I like the orange and white scheme on the tag, and, I think I mentioned this before, but I also think that's a great conversion. I also like the blue/white scheme that you've got going on for Pan0.

I want to see a shot of the TAG with it's similarly-painted entourage of infantry.

I needed something that would be visually distinct for the nomads.
We have two other Nomad players in the club - and I wanted mine to not look like theirs.

It's also to give them a kind of SAR look. I wanted them to be the Backup plan of the QK force. If the mission goes pear shaped, I figured they'd have an armoured force to come in and pull their nuts out of the fire.

Of course, in practice, the Haqq usually end up doing it the other way - the Nomads get overcommitted and end up being the ones in need of rescue.

So, I've added some stuff to the pile.

Scarface.

Yes, I swapped out his Pzf for a mk12 and had him dual wielding the 2nd one, with the Pzf now being shoulder mounted.
With some paint on him. Bright yellow has no place on a military spec unit. I figure he'll be broadcasting IFF anyway.

Oh, and the modified lizard got himself a new head.
Courtesy of the Lizard pilot (bootleg).

Scarface had an accident.
Damaged his Pzf so I had to replace it. This one suits the aesthetic of the haqq pzf more - and I figure as a merc, he'd use weapons systems from his employer where they are supplied.

I tend to make terrain when I'm not painting or assembling models.

I'm doing a shanty table for an upcoming con in January (CanCon. Australia's largest gaming convention, and the 'national' titles ).

Here's one I knocked up a few days ago. Two pieces that can be stacked to make a higher one. I have a stack of platformer ramps and catwalks, so access to the upper ones will be fine. Also a pile of ladders.

Shanty.

TAG for scale.

Looks very cool, I like the rust effect.

Are those completely scratch-built buildings? Looking forward to seeing more of the shanty-type building, not something you see that much of so certainly sounds original!

OK, so my PanO has a new recruit.

Dragao TAG.

Did a minor conversion to it.
Changed the position of the ammo box to more central and raised slightly (so the spine piece isn't used).
Trimmed the spindle mount from the base of the gun mount (as it would be side mounted, not top-mounted).
Made the flamer vambrace mounted, instead of hand-held.

I like your conversion the mounting of the HMC looks more natural compared to the original TAG where it looks awkward and unbalanced so your looks much better. I might have to steal that idea when I get to build one.

New TAG.

Iggy - formerly of the stooges - and now proud guardian defender of the caravanseries.

Docked the tail (the model doesn't need it - and it makes transporting it harder - it takes up 50-60% more space.

Gun swap (3 barrel gatling HMG pack mounted). Heavy flamer is represented. It's vambrace mounted for the left arm.

Side view of gun and ammo feed.

Heavy flamer

It got its baptism by fire yesterday (I won't use a model until/unless it is painted). It took out a TR remote with its first burst (we were both in cover, but my higher BS trumped it) and then went on a killing spree once that flank was opened up. It ended up losing a single wound by endgame.

I would expect something with a minigun to go on a killing spree haha!!!

Pretty surprising how it survivied though, as it still had its two wound operator to go as well. Is it mounted on the base it came with or did you grab a bigger one/change the legs slightly? I dont see those base extenders many people seem to mention. And with the white and orange, its almost like Bakunin nicked one from corrii .

I see where you're coming from with the tail, it would be a hassle and I dont have one so cant tell how much it protrudes. Although I'd be more inclined to leave it on to balance the thing on the front... but without it its still cool. Who knows, maybe you could chuck the spare tail on a szalamandra so when it gets shot off it'll just regenerate. Then you'll have heaps and can make wigs out of them and stuff.

edit; grammer, its always the time and place for that

To be honest, it WAS against one of the nooby players in my club - but he wanted to play against TAGs to see how they worked - and I was also showing another guy who is getting into the game how they worked. Against someone more skilled, it probably wouldn't have gone anywhere near as well. As it was, even though I put him into retreat at the start of his turn 3 (he went first), he still got a draw out of me. The main reason he only took a single wound was because my opponent was too busy dealing with an impetuous Scarface in his deployment zone (having walked his way up and gunned gak down on the way).

Yeah, standard size base. unchanged stance, NO extensions. It's a 40mm Secret weapon miniatures base (You do awesome work Mr Justin). With the foot extensions (heels) it has, it does fit and stand on a 40mm with a little work. I pinned it using 1mm steel wire into both feet through the base.
White and Orange are the colours my nomads for QK use. Fluffwise, they are the SAR (Search And Rescue) part of the team. The Haqq troops provide the military force - called in once the solid waste has hit the rotating appliance. High Vis orange fits that theme.

The silver guy is "Scarface" a mercenary TAG available to the QK sectorial of Haqqislam in ITS games (and most human factions in non-ITS play).
He's an Arm5 TAG (so he's a 'light' TAG compared to some) but QK can field him AND an Iguana TAG as well (they only cost around 160 or so points for both) and Scarface comes with a free Engineer (figure) who is part of his team (You buy them together - you can't get scarface without cordy). QK has no shortage of engineer options, though.

A change of direction while I have no models to paint.

Some new terrain.
Miniaturescenery put out some updates of their old "sand buildings" a while ago - these are lasercut over the old cnc routed ones. I picked up a couple of them for my board (one is made, the other is still in its packing.

Now, whilst the new building is fine and covered in hexes to make it more skiffy, it's still a little ... bland.

So I greeblied it up with some of the widgets they include with it, as well as a few leftover bits from some MAS stuff as well as plastic tiles from another building set.

The gantry around the edge doesn't provide cover unless you are prone and elevated from the shooter. OTOH, the rooftop (lower level) behind it DOES provide cover (head and shoulders can be seen above it on an infantry model. TAGs might get partial cover.

And next to the foamcore construction I built based on the images mousemuffins showed off when they were originally going to be released. Once again, I could not resist the urge to bling up the basic model.

My S6 TAG proxy for the Uhlan (Stingray series 'light' TAGs for PanO). It's the same height to top of head as the Geckos.

I've got a new Squalo on the way (which will me modified anyway) for my Neoterra (I can have up to 2 each of the Uhlan and Squalo).

So, I made some command tokens.

I had a few of Micro-Arts' tokens where the backing was coming away - they were duplicates and ones I didn't use anyway (spawn embryo? They came in a big pack of markers). So I just removed the backing that was coming off anyway and glued them down to the printouts.
