Blood Angels:
Librarian
3 5-man Assault squads with no upgrades, in Las/Plas Razorbacks
Blood Talon Dreadnought
2 Stormravens with Twin Plasmacannons, Twin Multimeltas, and 4 Bloodstrike missiles each
Vindicator

Tyranids:
Hive Tyrant (Brainleech Devourers, Heavy Venom Cannon, Paroxysm, Leech Essence, Hive Commander) + 1 Tyrant Guard
3 Hive Guard
2 Zoanthropes
Harpy (twin Stranglethorn Cannon, Cluster Spines)
Meiotic Spore Sack
Meiotic Spore Sack
3 Tyranid Warriors (Twin Boneswords, 1 Venom Cannon, 2 Deathspitters)
4 Tyranid Warriors (Rending Claws and Toxin Sacs)
10 Genestealers (Toxin Sacs)
Trygon (Adrenal Glands)
Biovore

5 Objectives: Blood Angels placed 1 Northwestern behind a building, 1 Northeastern behind a hill. Tyranids placed 1 South Central behind a building, 1 Southeastern among a bunch of crates/barrels, and the final one East Central out in the open.

Tyranids got first turn and first deployment.

Tyranid Deployment (Southern deployment zone):
Shooty Warriors and Hive Guard on Southern central objective, behind a building; Biovore a few inches back behind an LOS-blocking wall.
Tyrant + Guard to east of central building behind Zoanthropes.

Reserves: Outflanking: Rending Warriors, Genestealers; Deepstriking: Harpy, Trygon, Meiotic Spore Sacks

Blood Angel deployment: Reserved all. No deepstrike, no outflanking.

Turn 1: Nids move up a bit

Turn 2: Genestealers, Rending Warriors and both Spore Sacks come in from reserve. Rending Warriors come in West side near North (Blood Angels) edge, trying to get into cover near the Northwestern objective (bad run roll, left out in the open). Genestealers come in the East side near the South edge, snaking through cover towards the Southeastern objective. Both Spore Sacks dropped near the Northeastern objective (just east and a bit south toward the center line).

Blood Angels came in with Hammernators in the Northwest, both Stormravens North central, and three vehicles just east of the Stormravens: Assault Squad Razorback, Vindicator, and Librarian Razorback.

Vindicator put a wound on the Tyrant and a Zoanthrope. Stormravens each loosed half their Bloodstrike Missiles, which combined with their Plasmacannons and Multimeltas managed to evaporate the Zoanthropes. Razorbacks put a wound on the Tyrant Guard. Hammernators charged the Warriors – the Warriors got three rends, but all were saved by Storm Shields. The Hammernators then made Warrior pate and consolidated forward.

Turn 3: Trygon came in on target, just west of center (to keep a building between it and most of the Blood Angel vehicles). Zapped the Hammernators but didn’t kill any. Harpy came in the Southwest to support, and scattered even farther south. A cross-table barbed strangler shot managed to immobilize the Librarian’s Razorback. The Hive Guard immobilized and shook the central Stormraven, while the Hive Tyrant’s venom cannon shook the Vindicator. Shooty Warriors got up onto the building for area terrain cover, while keeping the Venom Cannon Warrior within 3” of the south central objective (and within 12” of the Biovore for Synapse). Warrior Venom Cannon shook the other Stormraven. Genestealers slowly moved towards southeastern objective.

Blood Talon Dreadnought came in, embarked on the shaken Stormraven which went flat-out to the center of the table, past the Trygon. Vindicator backed up a bit to get out of Hive Guard range, and blasted the Tyrant , putting second wound on it and killing the Tyrant Guard for good measure. The intact Razorback moved up; Librarian disembarked from the immobilized Razorback and ran west behind the Shaken Razorback. Assault Squad disembarked east of the immobilized Razorback and shot at a Meotic Spore, failing to wound it. Hammernators charged the Trygon. The Trygon did five wounds but managed to only drop a single Hammernator – however, they dished out 5 wounds to the big beast (not enough!).

Turn 4: The big Spore Sacks crept slowly towards the northeastern objective. The Harpy decided to forgo shooting in order to move up and help the Trygon in assault. Stealers wound their way onto the southeastern objective (finally!) and spread out in various bits of cover. The Hive Tyrant, bereft of his Guard, surged forwards into the open field to cover the center-east objective. His Devourers and Venom Cannon brought the Stormraven to the ground. The Hive Guard exploded the mobile Razorback, killing one of the occupants and wounding the Librarian behind it. Warrior Venom Cannon ripped the plasma cannons off of the immobilized Stormraven.

Harpy charged into the Hammernators and caused a couple of wounds, both of which were saved. The Trygon caused another 5 wounds, and managed to slay the Terminator sgt. The Hammernators directed all of their attacks onto the Trygon and easily removed its last wound, but remained locked in combat by the Harpy.

The final Assault Marine Razorback finally made it onto the field, coming on the Northeast corner near the big Spore Mines. It popped one of the big ones, which spewed out 4 small Spore Mines. The Librarian’s immobilized Razorback popped the other Spore Sack, which turned out to be empty. The Assault Squad from the eastern Razorback shot one of the small spore mines, which blew up a second in a chain reaction. The Assault Squad from the exploded Razorback ran west towards the northwestern objective. The Vindicator and the Multimelta from the immobilized Stormraven finished off the Hive Tyrant.

The Bloodtalon Dreadnought charged into the Hammernator/Harpy melee, but the Harpy got to strike first – and exploded the Dreadnought! Three Thunderhammers came down and mulched the Harpy in response. Terminators consolidated towards the southcentral objective.

Turn 5: The Warrior took aim with his Venom Cannon at the unit of Assault Marines, but scattered wide. Hive Guard sidled east to get away from the Hammernators, and tried to shoot the last Razorback, but it was out of range. Genestealers hunkered down on their objective.

The Assault Squads moved to secure both northern objectives, and shot the last spore mines off the board. Everything else shot at the Tyranid Warriors in cover near the southcentral objective. When the dust cleared, only the Venom Cannon Warrior remained.

The Hammernators contemplated moving to contest that objective (which would have given the Blood Angels the win), but shrugged and moved to charge the Warrior instead in true Blood Angels fashion. As they raised their hammers, the boneswords rose and fell – 3 hits, 3 wounds, and 3 failed invulnerable saves! A very surprised Warrior held the objective.

Result – tie game, 2 objectives each!

Edit: I think the game went to turn 6 actually, so I lost a turn somewhere in there. Also, the Biovore basically accomplished nothing - maybe picked off an Assault Marine here or there, but mostly missed.

It was a great game! I had to go for that last charge after that whole game. My Termiators had 5 Warriors, 1 Trygon and a harpy to their name, what could 1 little warrior do to them? How wrong I was.

Could had the win but what fun would that have been if I didn't go for the glory?

Also I learned my lession for charging a dread into cc with a MC.

I'm surprised by your use of the gene stealers. They had me a little fightened and I though you might have been able to outflank them on my side to knock me off some objectives. Instead I got to ignore them all game which worked out for me. You did have bad luck on your reserves and having almost EVERYTHING come in before I had the chance to deploy.

Nice battle report! Not to be picky (an enjoyable read and looks like it was a fun game), but a couple minor mistakes.

Tyranid's turn 3, you mentioned that the Hive Tyrant shook the Vindicator. BA turn 3, the Vindicator shot at the Tyrant and did some damage.

On the same turn, you said that the Dreadnought hopped in the Stormraven which then went flat-out. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe you can't embark or disembark from a vehicle that moves or plans on moving flat out.

I don't think either of those events would have made a huge difference on the game, but it's just something to keep in mind. Anyway, looks like it was a good game with some crazy weird luck

Edit: Looked it up. Page 70 of the rulebook. Passengers cannot embark or disembark from a vehicle that moved or is going to move flat-out.

IT is not so much planning to move flat out that prevents you from disembarking. But if you do disembark a unit from a vehicle, it is not allowed to move Flat Out. In a similar vein models embarked on a transport that moved Flat Out cannot disembark in that movement phase.

He did miss a turn in there somewhere and that was part of it

That's good to know, looks like I cheated a little Didn't make a difference as the dread was blow up the first time it was hit
