Bloodthirsty Bloodletter

This is my first ever conversion but it came to me one day that i can make a daemon prince from a dreadnaught. So a poor death company dread has fallen to the many lords of chaos and now serves them proudly.

This is what am gana use

It seems to be a bold project, I like it.

If you're using GS for the first time, you have to know some basic tips:
- keep your GS wet while you're working on it. It will prevent it to stick to your tools.
- use a colour shaper to smooth its surface, and a sculpting tool to work it.
I use latex gloves when I work with GS, and I never file it in open air (I do it under water to avoid breathing toxic dust).

Oh, and of course, only mix the desired quantity (I remember reading a thread of someone complaining that he had mixed all his newly bought GS
and was pissed because it had hardened so that he couldn't use it later )

For some GS work example, check Tinfoil's threads (he's a master or GS-Fu), but also Majortom11 and many others.

About the legs, well...You might have to add an extra section to the legs.

Don't forget to post pics of your progress.

Cheers.
Joe

I think if you had the head coming out of where the head of a dread pilot is, it'd be cool. How it is now, you can see the deamon head and the skull head of the dreadnought "crewman". Know what I mean? Looks good so far tho!

Can green stuff sit in water without a problem?

I think the head is in the right place if the Daemon head has gone through the top, although you would need to make sure you had holes where the horns came through as well.

any ideas how i can do that?

...update...

Here are some new pics of my most recent work. (sorry some photos are the best)
I used left over pieces of a soul grinder kits legs for the joints on the legs and the arm
I made look as if where the pilots skull use to be was taken over by flesh finding any way out.
I add tendrels to the new chest blob and made a chaos symbol on it.
I took a plate from a soul grinder and made it look taken over and and had a chaos symbol carved into that.
I add tendrels to the arm flesh and some flesh to the fallen claw
The remaining arm has had a chaos symbol put on it and the thumb has been replaced with the force halberd to show how chaos can morph stuff

first time trying the chaos symbol

I used GS to flatten the palm of the 2 claws to hide the connecters

...Update...

I have add gs to leg of the dread to make it look like flesh is spreading along it.

I have pit gs on the knee pad and armor plate to make it look like flesh has spread over it or is starting too. Carved in a chaos symbol to the knee plate.

I picked up loctite fun-tak (blue stuff) and used it to do a temporary tack job to show you all what it may look like put together.

All the pieces before put together

what it may look like. I am planning on having the melta represent the bolt of change daemon gift and the big shootas represents the daemonic gaze daemon gift.
Let me know if this looks to busy for a model

For the final problem should I armor the neck or not. What looks better

Mate, there are alot of great sculpters around dakka with lots of usefull tips in their threads. I know the urge to crete can be overwhelming but take your time to read and plan what and how you're going to sculpt. I'm not even close to the best around but I've posted some tips on GS work and posing somewhere I my thread if you're intrested.

Instead of using the big shoota's maybe use the storm bolter that came with the model and put it in the same spot as one of the big shoota's or combined it with the metla?
