I know this technically isn't fiction in the prose sense, but it certainly is fluff... (will post a little on my DIY Chapter later)

These are technically finished pieces of artwork, but are really more a draft to work out the ideas and where everything should go. I'm doing a new version which presents reverse triage as standard, so too badly injured (and not an officer) you have no chance, likewise if your injury is very minor you may find yourself under a charge of attempting to avoid your duty....

Higher res images can be found on my DeviantArt page, also I get a few requests to use these for RPGs (table and LARP) so if you wish to do use these (free of charge, no claim made to GW IP etc.), just let me know.

The inspiration for these was largely 20th C interwar military documents, which I thought looked suitably dark(ish) without resorting to Gothic script everywhere.

Triage Tag (Front and Back) - for tying to said casualty for others to easily identify wound severity...

In the flow diagram, the respiratory rate cutoff seems a bit high for the part in Step II to go to step III. A resp rate of 30 is tachypnoeic.

Also a typo: it is "unconscious" not "unconcious"

Slightly tangential, note that the Imperial Guard in the 4th edition IG Codex uses fibrillators, which might account for their dismal survival rate.

For those that don't get it: the proper equipment is a defibrillator.

Thanks for the comment, there are more typos than that (I should know better, I was a copywriter in my previous life). As I said, these are only rough drafts.

Also, 30 is the standard RR cutoff used by most emergency and military medical services... and it certainly would be tachypnoeic, you can be tachypnoeic with an RR of 56/min and still speak, obviously.

You, Sir, are a genius. Your beautiful work recalls real-life triage tables, while exuding the grimdark stench of desperation, brutality and contempt for human life of the WH40k world. It's a really good piece, both visually and in the concept and wording.

There are no flaws I can see in your work, apart from the already reported minor typo.

I humbly ask in advance for your autorization in using your documents as a handout for a medical officer IG character in a free-form/light structure 40k rpg I'm running for some friends (and might run here on Dakka in the foreseeable future, if anyone could be interested), obviously giving all credits to you.

A RR rate of 56 is not sustainable. At that rate the patient is likely not getting good lung expansion and will tire.

If the person is at rest, a rate of 18-20 is already tachypnoeic and bears thinking about.

Aren't, generally speaking, minor injuries prioritised highest near the front? I.e. people you can get into combat in shortest order are prioritised over those who require continuous or specialised attention.
This triage system seem a bit... civilian.

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

I'm certainly not denying that, but the fact remains that 30/min is the standard cutoff presented in the majority of the various triage systems used by civilian and military emergency services globally. What area of medicine do you work in Iracundus? Any other feedback you have would be useful to add to that from those in the profession that have commented so far

There are comments about reverse triage on the poster (it is supposed to be convoluted) and as mentioned in the intro this is a rough draft and one of the changes in the new drafts is to present reverse triage as standard.

For the triage tag, can you include warp and xenos contamination boxes?

A box for inidcations of cowardace would also be quite cool.

Overall great stuff!

Thanks Kid_Kyoto, I didn't include those previously because warp contamination is treated with death lol. I've just started working on a new tag which makes more references to cowardice, and some references to Tyranid bio-weaponry.

I'm working on a separate manual of surgery and field medical manual, or rather sections of them, and they'll include more details like that

Incidentally, I've put out a poll for my Muniotorium/IG medic and Officio Medicae symbols (primarily for a transfer sheet), but one of these will be included on the new medical documents
