Hello,

I thought i'd create a blog to motivate me into completing my ever expanding Slaaneshi army. Unfortunatly i have no photos at present but will soon have once i work out how to use my girlfriends camera. So i can only offer you a little bit of fluff regarding my army; The Heralds of Excess.

--- The Heralds of Excess are a warband that have plagued imperial space for thousands of years, originally believed to be a splinter force of the emperors children due to their high use of sonic weaponry, the Heralds presence in several key sectors has caused much unrest within the inquistion; these actions made even more disturbing by their seeming randomness. The Inquisition has also noted that many of the followers of the Heralds are not space marine, but all manner of rebels, renegades, mutants and even daemons have been counted amongst the vast horde that announce the arrival of These fallen space marines. ---

Many thanks

Corey.

Having a little bit of trouble still with the camera so i thought i'd post a bit more fluff in the hope that it'll keep someone entertained

--- Katerous pulled his blade from the guardsman's shoulder and sniffed the air, revelling in the aroma of fresh blood as it flooded his nostrils. The guardsman gave a soft moan, or perhaps a prayer to the emperor, and began to slowly squirm away from the traitor marine behind him. With a sigh Katerous rose and followed the injured man across the room before stamping on his leg, snapping the bone and causing the guardsman to howl in anguish. 'No one can hear you little man, your friends are already dead' Katerous remarked, half aware of the man's sobs, he began to tinker with the wiring on his sonic blaster as he waited for new orders from his commander. Leaving the guardsman behind Katerous opened the door of the room and stood in the evening sun that fell through the red clouds miles above his head. His vox crackled into life at his ear and the snarling voice of Deloth came into focus: 'Are you finished yet Katerous? The lady is waiting' Katerous smirked: 'I must have lost track of time' 'Enough of that, Get ready to rendevous with the rhino, the rest of us are already inside'... Katerous turned and knelt beside the guardsman: 'Today is not your day my friend' he whispered cruelly as he ran his tounge across his sharpened fangs. The man only moaned in pain. Katerous raised his sonic blaster and pointed squarely between his eyes: 'Try not to enjoy this as much as i shall' ---

Pictures soon, hopefully

Thanks for the advise, in answer to your question, they are base coated black, should i use white instead?

The grey is part of the violators colour scheme:
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Violators
should i highlight it up with white in the mix then?

What torso did you use on that champion?

They're looking good, man. Keep it up and they'll look better and better. I sure will follow this blog as I'm putting together a Slaanesh army myself.

Imperial guard: Because quantity has a quality of it's own.

Sisters of Battle can be used in any game, with the exception of chess, Monopoly and of course, Warhammer 40,000.

After 8 editions, you might have thought that GW could get fantasy right.

Yes it is, but its the Chaos one so i think it has more pipes. I think i'm going to have to re-paint him as i seem to have been abit messy around his feet...

Give the new GW paint "Slaanesh Grey" a try. It's really good, it's like a mix between grey and purple. Your current grey looks a bit boring if I may.

Yeah the grey i thought would be a good idea to represent the marines becoming bored of sensations etc. and them painting their armour a dull colour to reflect that fact, But it never really worked; so this colour may be a big help in that direction. Thanks.

yeah,
Great start, your painting is a little thick but generally very tidy.
If your open to advice you should thin your paints a little and I think you should try a wash - shade - on your models it will make the details jump out. I suggest you try purple or blue and the miricle brown that has now been renamed agrax.
Citadel Shade: Druchii Violet
Citadel Shade: Drakenhof Nightshade
Citadel Shade: Agrax Earthshade

Nice work (again)

Pink is the best colour IMO for noise marines.

The aspiring champion looks amazing, what is the head from?

I agree with the above, you have some good colours down, and a good shade can really tie the model together without diluting the theme you have got going, also good to well... give it shadow (get it, shade and shadow?).

Good work though

Thanks guys.

@Panic - Not at all. The thickness of the paints is something that i've tried to rectify on the newer models, but i am quite fond of the thick, childlike paint jobs on the older ones. I have used Devlan mud and Asurmen blue on most of my models in varying degrees, would a purple wash be to heavy for the pink areas?

@progreen10 - The head is one of the metal ones from the noise marine box; its probably my favourite and i've had it since 2005

Hello,

Looking good so far, the army has a lot of character.

Have you got a specific army list in mind or just building and painting different units that you like?

As mentioned, watering down the paints will help with your general painting. Aim for the paint to be a similar consistency to milk and do multiple layers to get good coverage.

Looking forward to seeing more.

@evildrcheese Atm I haven't got a specific army list; although i'm in the proccess of writing one. I really like the individual-ness of noise marines and slaanesh in general, which really lends itself to my short attention span, hense the multiple armies within armies and the bizzare colour schemes

Looking good so far, I think as others have said some washes would add a bit more depth to the minis.
