Hi everyone, Im thinking of starting up a rebel grot army using the ork codex, and I have the basis of an army list, but if anyone could help flesh it out a bit more that would be great.

Like most ork (sorry, grotz) lists, this army needs more anti-tank. I would go with crazy grotz on deffkopta's or a light vehicle. Love the theme, planning to do an army like this myself.

So warbugggies or tankbustaGrotz is a good way to go. I also see what you mean by not having enough anti tank. I was relying on the kans and dread would be anti tank enough but that may not work too well.

Its any list from the ork codex has problems with anti-tank. Grotz probably have the most problems because of the converting requirred to make a good tank busting unit.

Also are Meganobz with kombi shoota-rokkit launchas effective in terms of anti tank? I just thought that it would be useless as they are hitting on 5s

I recomend Tank Busta grots.
Also needs more Grey Knights

I am guessing the Mega grots are meganobs, but model as grots right?

If thats the case they are 120 pts, not 100.

The second squad of Kans should have something more then Skorchas. Why waste there added BS for flamers? Give them Rokkits to help with AT, or even Mega blastas woudl help with that.

You also might want to get another grotMek in there. Its going to be hard to cover all the kans and grots alike with one KFF.

You also would need 3 runtherds in the squads. Just FYI, if you didn't know. You only had one listed.

Looks fun. the modeling will be the best part of this army for sure. Good Luck!

I haven't used much of kombi weapons with orks, so I can;t really say.

I remember seeing a rebel grot codex somewhere... the best stuff I have seen for a custom-codex.

I want to see some "Rat Patrol" Grot-buggies.

Yes you can. They are Expensive but you can.

Ok I didnt realise. I think that rokkits have better anti tank though, due to their longer range. And with the release of the new ork flyers, I'll take a few of them as anti (elite) infantry.

The rokkits (IMO) are better anti-tank then mega blasters. Also, new ork flyers are awesome.

Funny. Even though they are made from from scrap metal, they look the most credible to fly.

I like the theme, I was actually considering making an army like this, until I realised that I would need to paint 150 or so grots

but your list looks great. Also I agree with what has been said in previous posts, it needs a little more anti-tank.

Skorchas are a waste on the kans. They are just not worth it. Do you have IA8? if so they have rules for grot tanks and the mega tank. It can honestly make your theme go miles longer, and be a bit more competetive for sure. Check it out if you can.

Id also recommend poisonsticks or whatever they're called on the runtherds

The grot prod isn't worth it. As for skorchas on kans, they are mostly for use against gaunts and the like. As for the battle reps, I'll put a few up once I Play some games.

I think the 150 grots have them covered. Just saying.

What are you going to do against the trygons and terivagons? Those grots are going to be hard pressed to hurt them.

With trygons and other monstrous creatures, I'd probably shoot them with my kans and planes. I might consider using lootagrots for anti MCs

I think that would be awesomely awesome actually. I think that would fit very well too. You really can never go wrong with the lootas. I have killed a many trygons with my lootas.

The problem with attacking gaunts with grots is that the grots will most likely be chased down. When the kans attack, the gaunts can't hurt them so they will come up on top.

Its all about planning and tactics. I think if you have that many shots going into the gaunts they will not be there. Sure they have that chance I don't disagree there. But if you are doing a grot army you have to deal with what you have and work with it the best you can.

I don't see adding 3 Flamers on a unit that hits better is the right choice. If he wants to add flamers then why not put some combi skorchas on his Megagrots. Then he has at least a chance to do some major flame damage.

There are alot better options then wasting the BS of some Kans. Just saying!

Of course this is just my opinion.

I just think that using mega blastas on an expendable unit isnt a very effective idea. big shootas can hardly do as much damage as skorchas at close range and the only things i'll be attacking will be MEQ's or weaker without meltabombs or fists anyway. the rest of the army doesnt have too many skorchas so that is an issue.

On a completely different note, does anybody know where i cna get a dark angels template for quartermaster? thanks in advance

Sorry guys, been away from Dakka for a while...

After digging out my grot army, I think that I should re-do the list as a "Grot Themed" Ork army with about half of the army being made up of orks and the other made up of kans, Grots etc...

What do you think?

Competitive and game length wise, I would say yes. Novelty wise, nah.
