I received some great advice from dakka which was to put destructeks into the empty ark which follows your blob. This protects the crypteks and means they can shoot at a different target to the warriors.

I suggest that you drop one destructeks to get a solar pulse so that you get some protection against the long range weapons in the early turns because that blob is the primary target.

Maybe split 5 warriors and a destructek into a separate unit to protect your home objective in objective games?

Thanks for the advice, never thought of putting the Destructeks in an ark. And the breaking Warriors off is a good idea. it would be the same amount of points, so i would justchange that, have the large squad of 15 and a small squad of 5, 1 Destructek in there and the rest in the superfriends squad there, and then drop 1 of the Destructeks for the pulse, using the 15 leftover points for a 2+ save on my Overlord Perhaps?

Me neither - dakka is awesome for ideas like that!

SW is good, but I personally like the phase shifter better if you can find the points. The invulnerable save seems more useful particularly as I tend to detach the overlord and send him tank hunting if a suitable opportunity presents.

You are basically stuck using the ghost arc for a crpytek gunboat. You can't have two of the same royal court in a squad. (no lord+ destroteks)

Bedouin Dynasty: 10000 pts
The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

I thought you could have multiples of the characters in the Royal Court, but only 1 could have the special wargear. So 3 destructeks with lances is ok (because the lances are required exchanges for Staffs) but you can only have 1 solar pulse.

Haven't got my codex with me to check atm.

Unit Composition of a Royal court is as follows, "0-5 Necron Lords, 0-5 Crypteks"
the way i read that, i can have up to 5 crypteks as well as 5 lordsin 1 royal court

True.

But you can still only attach one member of a Royal Court to any given squad, so you'll need to re-evaluate what you're doing with all of them. I advise against paying for a Phase Shifter, ever. If you want an HQ with one, get one of the characters with it and get some neat special rules for a bargain price.

I don't think your Warrior Squad needs to be quite so big, either. What other models do you have to supplement this army?

im basically starting from scratch on this army, so far i have 1 box of warriors and a command barge, as well as a canoptek spyder... want to do a 2k scarab farm list, any way to build a 1k point list to build upon that?

True. But with his list he can still put multiple destructeks into the ark by leaving the crypteks as the royal court and moving them as a unit. Course having just crypteks running around by themselves as an AT unit would be why they need to be in the Ark.

So if you currently have 12 warriors and three scarab bases i suggest you get a battle force and a lychguard box if you can afford it. The battle force will give you a doomsday or ghost ark, 20 warriors and 5 scarab bases. Most importantly, there is a deathmarks/immortals unit as well.

From the battle force warriors I'd build
5 crypteks using warrior legs, warrior chests on praetorian backs with deathmark heads.
A couple of normal Lords using immortal backs/chests on warrior legs
Build x normal warriors and trade the rest for scarabs..

the lychguard box has a huge amount of cool stuff in it. If you build the lychguard with swords and shields you can use the leftover staffs from the box for crypteks/lords.

Actually, there are so many conversion opportunities you could get just about anything you want. The conversion is not hard, just carefully trim off the back of the warrior chest to make it flat (as long as you don't mind slightly misfiting armholes). Way cheaper to get crypteks and lords using a conversion.

Cool, thanks for the advice, not quite sure i have my mind set on Scarab farm, is there a decent Melee based Necron army?
or would i be way far out on that?
another question, is fully mechanised Necrons without using the Scythes possible? like groups of warriors in arks with Crypteks, 2 CCB lords and Doomsday arks a viable build?

For melee based army lists suggest you check out wrathwings (i think dakkanaut skoffs plays those), or for semi melee maybe check out jy2 MTO Necrons.

jy2 has a number of excellent battle reports on the performance of his MTO necrons.

If you want a list a bit out of the ordinary (not hugely competitive) but fun to play, check out the FunCron list I posted in the Army List.

Not sure about a fully mechanised list - sounds feasible but I don't have enough models to try it. The Ghost ark/CCB/Anni barges are pretty tough, but generally they are dead by T3 as they are the primary S8 targets.

I sometimes put 9 warriors in my ark with a phaeron to make them relentless. That's fun but not as effective as putting the overlord on a barge.

For me the endless combinations of the Necron units is the fun thing about them - suggest you try a couple of combinations out to see what appeals to you.

But yeah, sounds like you're split between three of the most common builds: Wraith Wing, Scarab Farm, and AV13 Spam (yes, Mech Crons are quite possible, and slightly viable, too!).

For big point games, it's possible to put a little bit of everything in (like jy2's MTO list. The man is a master. Check out his battle reports and learn a lot), but for a 1000 point game, I've found it's not as easy to diversify. I usually have to stick to one tactic and hope for the best.
I've tried running a 1000 point AV13 "Spam" list before (hey, 5 vehicles is a lot for 1000 points! ... unless you're IG, then it's run-of-the-mill). It did okay, but no where near as well as my aggressive Wraith centric lists.
