Not necessarily the allies rules as an official thing, this is just for a themed tournament. They had similar things in the Apoc Rulebook.

I'm surprised at Chaos/Tau, but depending on how these rules play out (and rules for a doubles tournament doesn't mean they'll appear in the rulebook) I may have some fun modelling up some Chaos Tau or Chaorks

Ultras dont mind the Tau I guess

A better question is why are orks brother in arms with orks?

But yea I'm not sure if this means anything, its just an event

Yeah, I doubt this means anything beyond this one event.

The packet is even named "Doubles Pack", Doubles being a common name for 2 player team tournaments.

The trolling about supposed rumours is getting out of hand.

Seriously, this has nothing to do with 6th edition. It's a doubles tournament. Normally at these team events any army can ally with another with no restrictions or bonuses.

That said, that chart is just weird in the extreme. Why are Necrons 'unholy alliance' with their Ward-buddies the Blood Angels but 'grudging allies' with Grey Knights and Orks? None of this stuff makes any sense so that's why the background stories have to be ignored and allies either allowed or disallowed straight up with no special rules.

This is for a Doubles Tournament. Which kinda precludes needing rules for allies.

The idea that this is a precursor to 6th ed. rules is idiotic.

It's called GW ignoring the past(Genestealer cults and their connections to Chaos and plausibly just about anyone else).

You get used to it or you ragequit.

I love that by this chart someone could ally Crimson Fists and Orks. Makes total sense...

This particular matrik is actually pretty old, they've used it before in similar events.

I think the thread needs to be re-titled as these aren't Allies rules, it's a tournament packet.

It would be very misleading to people who don't know about the Doubles tournaments.

Dark Eldar and Shiny Eldar are not "Brothers in Arms". They hate each other, despite having allied once or twice in the past. Silly sauce!

My bad if these exact rules have been used before. I just found it interesting that it fits perfectly with the current rumors for Allies in 6th Edition.

One interpretation is to take it that this implies that the rumours are true, sure. But the other is that the source of the rumours got them from this and misinterpreted them as 6th ed. rumours. That's what my money would be on.

In the dark recesses of your mind...

These are just rules for a doubles tournament, and likely the source of the 'allies' rumors that were circulating as part of the 6th edition rumors.

I agree

With Summer 2012 coming up I think everybody is desperately grasping at any straws they find on 6th

Fantasy 8th has the same sort of rules (and if current rumours are believed, then 6th will be like 8th in a good few aspects) and they don't impact on anything bar doubles/triples/quadruples (etc. etc.) games or custom scenarios where they're used.

Nothing new, and certainly nothing groundbreaking.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
