Well that was a sad way to end the day... I got home all prepared to demold the wall and cast up the first attempt at the second side... and was met with a sticky gloopy mess rather than some properly set rubber. Not sure what went wrong, but the rubber had turned into glue instead and basically destroyed the plaster. Not a happy bunny :(

Time to start again *sigh*

Still. At least I now know what to do to make the next one.

Puzzling and tragic...

Now I have had time to stop and think about it, I suspect it's a combination of three things.

1) old rubber; it's been about 18 months since I bought it and I think it has a short shelf life
2) leaving it to set overnight in a cold, damp garage
3) not being 100% accurate with the mixture as C was using the scales for her knitting

So the lesson here is measure properly and do it indoors with new rubber!

Hmmm yes. Yes it would. Certainly for the initial mold. I'd forgotten about that stuff... I may need a few packets as that wall was getting pretty big but it is reusable

After last week's... accident... I have taken this long weekend to have a go at creating another wall piece and am much happier with how this one is looking as the brickwork is much more in line with the Morr walls. This is designed to interlock with other wall pieces in order to make it a bit more stable than the GW walls, with a lot less footing.

Thanks for the blue stuff suggestion Dantay; I've now got some on order

It looks fantastic! Why are there fuzzy bits around the edges?

The fuzzy bits are from the clay. It's that air dry stuff that is very fibrous to hold it together. It's one of the reasons I'm doing it in this, then making a plaster master before making a final model.

As this stuff dries on it's own, it's easy to prototype various pieces quite quickly in an easy to carve material.

I do really like the way these black and white guys are going. My concern with full color is that with all the different types now they will be harder to tell apart.

I really approve of your use of off centre compositions in your photography. The colour palette on the zombies works wonders as well!

That is one of the reasons I stopped with the full colour zombies. When surrounded, it was hard enough finding the survivors... but adding in all these other types was going to be a problem. I think B&W with one spot colour works well. I just need to work out what colours fit with the new zombie types...

The VIP cards are purple, not sure on the models. Skinners and crawlers are yellow, and seekers are black. That last one could be tricky.

There's also the problem of how do I integrate it into the models. Berzerkers were easy as they just get spashed with red. Toxics... lots of green pus and boils...

Skinners I was thinking could just have nearly white skin as they are sooooo skinny...

I'm really not sure about the Seekers though.

I'm planning on doing Zombivores in a desaturated version of the survivor, so VIPs will likely follow be the same scheme so I can bulk out the VIP selection with any unused zombivores if we ever start to run short. It also gives me the chance to try and find Survivor models for each of the VIPs

Thanks! Still tidying the new house to make way for a permanent lightbox setup, so I had ot resort to the great outdoors. Sadly the colours are all over the place in these shots as the damn light keeps moving!

Ok, so spurred on to try and get as many of these things painted as possible, I finished a few of the smaller groups last night. I now have all the abominations painted, plus all the toxic fatties. Not bad for 2 hours work!

Awwww, no zombie love. Time for some survivors and zombivors instead.

Thaissa was one of the freebies from Season 2 and is supposed to be Bridget Fonda from Point of No Return. Why is the zombivor darker than the survivor? It isn't a mistake. I'm trying to make the zombivors one step closer to the zombies by desaturating the colours a bit and making them a lot darker/grimier as befits their descent into zombie-hood.

Nice duet !

Could you explain game-wise the deal with Survivors & Zombivors ?

Sure thing. Survivors can take 2 wounds before they die. In a game without Zombivors, this would be game over for that player.

If you are using zombivors, the turn after your character takes it's second wound, it comes back into play as a zombivor. The zombivors have different skills to the survivor version, normally more close combat oriented and fewer actions. On the plus side, they can take 5 wounds before finally going down

Oh ok, so they're not "evil versions" of the Survivors !

I never got to play Zombicide so not familiar with it at all

Thanks for the heads up !

Here's another Survivor/Zombivor set. This time it's Eva the cat burglar

The zombivor face has gone a bit iffy. I think it still needs a bit more work doing to it... possibly some green washes in the eyes to explain the puffyness?
