I recently watched the Anime movie "Blue Gender: The Warrior" and absolutely loved the mech designs. I feel like most gundam designs look a bit too leggy and lithe for the aesthetic of my other sci-fi miniatures, I feel like the armored shrikes, blue eyes, and grappler from Blue Gender struck a great balance between looking cool and looking like they belong on a gritty battlefield.

I tried to find some models or kits, but with no success, so I figured I would ask you fine folk if anybody knew if any kits had been released. Are there any obscure manufacturers out there that did any kits based on Blue Gender mecha?

To my knowledge nothing ever got made, at least by any of the bigger kit companies.

There might have been some kits made by the really tiny companies that you find at places like Wonder Fest, but that stuff becomes next to impossible to find later on.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Scale is 1/24 so a GW figure is probably half the height of the manga figures that come with the vehicle. That would make it quite a nice medium sized armoured car.

OK, thanks for the info! That is too bad, I'll have to try and find something similar.

Not strictly SF and not a scale that readily fits with any normal wargame except WW1 up to modern naval, but I thought this Tokyo Building set was worth mentioning.

Something to add to a Planetary Empires setup, or 2 mm SF, or naval perhaps.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows of any cheap walker models similar to an AT-ST from Star Wars that I could use for a conversion. I would have used an actual AT-ST, but the legs are way too skinny.

Thanks!

How cheap are we talking? Dust Tactics walker cheap or Robogear walker cheap?

I'd go with Robogear.

Idk, how big is the robogear walker? Because I was planning on making walking IG tanks that sit on a Riptide base.

There are a lot of different ones. Most of them are slightly bigger than Sentinels, but a little conversion work could go a long way.

At my FLGS, the walkers go for $5 each, so three of them are cheaper than 1 walker from anyone else.

Sweet. I didn't realise RoboGear still existed. I have a some of the models and there were a few I wanted to get more of.

Well, at that size, keep it buttoned up, and use like I do the Destroid Monster, a super heavy walker, or light titan.

I'm not sure if anyone here is aware, but it seems that Bandai's 1/48 Ingram from the live action Patlabor series is out now. I know Pacific will be very interested in getting his hands on one.

Comparing the pics of it against how some of Bandai's other one-off kits are, this one actually looks halfway decent (unlike you, Mars Daybreak with you half-assed piece of crap Round Buckler kit).

I was curious as to how they were going to do the cloth joint covers this time around. I know the old 1/60 kits used rubber and I think the 1/35 Master Grades did too. This time around, it looks like they use some sort of crumpled plastic sleeve.

Very interesting.
If I can find out when I go in December, I might just pick it up. I think it'll be a fine replacement for an Imperial Knight if one were so inclined.

I guess it probably won't jam at least.

Funnies aside, does anybody have a size comparison between the 1/144 hygogg model and the castellax battle automata?

That Kenbishi heavy industries is very cool, although I'm guessing quite large scale for 28mm?

There shall be no criticism of Patlabor in this thread!

I think in the movies they just end up punching stuff a lot though, or ripping arms off of other robots and hitting them with it

Some forthcoming releases on Hobby Link Japan.

Metal Slug

Pros: The nearest thing to Napoleon out of Dominion Tank Police available. Comes assembled and painted.

Cons: Very expensive. Looks more toylike than Napoleon.

I wish they had done it as a polystyrene kit, which would have been cheaper and make conversion seem less of a desecration.

Kotobukiya Weapon Unit accessory weapons

Some are new, some are reprints.

These are generally useful for upgrading mecha type models or converting 40K and historical vehicles and aircraft with current/near futuristic heavy weapons.

One example.

I have the Kenbishi kit but I haven't had a go at building it yet.
