That... is an excellently painted knight. All the little details really make him something special.

Looks awesome Knightley!

Very nicely done model and fits the rest of your armies theme really well. I reckon what you ended up with on the sword is great too and does it justice.

Can't wait to see this in the flesh

Great addition for the GK's. I think the pose looks better now that it's painted and the head is focused on the direction he's shooting at.

@KT - Thanks, you and me both, having him standing on the desk looking at me with one arm was very motivating to say the least

@Wolvey - I like the sound of that, will see what I can do about getting it put on the model somewhere!

@Gits - Cheers man, appreciate the kind words, and nothing about his squatting

@Mad - I think so as well, I could have changed the bronze to Tin to get a close look to my GK's but I think bronze is a more ancient look to it.

@Stormwall - Thank you!

@MK - Jebus, where did you come from? When was the last time you posted here... actually the record shows - 2014/06/09 10:25:08 a bit of a hiatus eh?

@EDC - God no, after all the effort in to this one I need a break with some chaff, kroot should fit the bill.

@Solar - Thanks Solar, the bonus is I can position the head to face left or right

Update: on to the chaff, kroot batch two underway

Has it really been that long?

*checks*

Wow it has... It really doesn't feel that long. Tbh I don't really visit this section as much anymore but still, didn't think it'd been 1.5 years!

Methinks I have some catching up to do.

And after that I'll be looking forward to some nice looking kroot!

Yeah, good ol' blast from the past, I also didn't think it had been that long. Maybe you'll stick around eh?

Update: more done on the kroot, man these guys are doing my head in.

Why they doing your head in? Are they really fiddly to paint up?

If it's any consolation, they are looking pretty good in a group like that

@Mad - Just boring to paint really, I tried to keep them interesting with the different colours, but they aren't fun models to paint.

@Solar - Agreed, I'll keep at them, after this lot it'll either be two lots of 10 or one lot of 20, I might go 20 and just finish the lot

Update: Kroot.... Pretty sure I just need to finish off the bases and this lot will be done.

Finally caught up after not looking at this blog for a while, and I have to say I absolutely love that Knight! He'll look awesome fighting alongside your Grey Knights! As for the Kroot, like any basic troops, you have the right idea doing them in batches, makes them a bit less of a chore. Personally I imagine Kroot are not fun to paint (mine are going to wait a while, but I'll refer back to this blog for ideas), but they do look awesome when they're done!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

@Zerg - Thanks man, yeah I looked at the army all laid out on the table and the Kroot were by far the most numerous so I figured get them done quickly and have fun with the rest.

@EDC - Cheers, I like there is variations in skin tone across them as well, some really like, some really dark.

Update: Second batch done onto the 3rd I say!

So will the 3rd batch be the last batch or do you still have more Kroot to soldier on and finish after that?

Really like how they look, btw.

That Knight has come up amazingly well. I'm impressed at how good it looks, and it works really nicely for a GK ally, as others have said, especially with all the script.

The Kroot look pretty cool as well, but having just caught up through the last few pages, the Knight is the obvious standout!

Kroot look good.

You going to push through and get more done, or going to break up the "pain" and do another model in between?

Guess we will find out next update

@MK - The third batch will be the last of the kroot proper, there is a krootox and 4 hounds to do as well

@Solar - any more than 3 squad of 10 guys is overkill, I haven't the foggiest as to why my mate wanted so many!

@Azazelx - Cheers man, yeah compared to the Kroot the Knight stands heads and shoulders above them

@Mad - Will push through, once they are done, they are done no need to go back and do more of them.

Update: Had a desire to look at how many models I have to paint (after spending some of the weekend assembling) - Just a small amount :|

Fair call on pushing through so you don't have to do more. I've found my system of small->medium->large->small->medium and so on works well for me or else I'd do all the bigger stuff and not any small

Nice Tau army you've got arrayed there. Going to be cool when you've got them all done up.

Nice Kroot. Good to hear you're moving onto the last.

It's gonna be a cool Tau army when it's done.

@hk1x1 - Thank you!

@Mad - Agreed, I should really do a similar thing, I really want to get the kroot done though

@EDC - I hope so, it wasn't my idea on the paint scheme or the model base, but hey, at least I get to paint it

@Master Azalle - Cheers

@Wolvey - I like the natural tone, great to see you like them too!

Update: Ok so I wanted to get all the current models primed and with one layer on them, top left are bases that have been primed brown and will get a darker brown airbrushed over the top, top right are going tin. Centre is going a middle grey top down

Update: Results of the airbrushing, I also started on applying sand to the other bases, silly thing is I should have done the basing before I did the prime/airbrush, but I've learnt that mistake
