Finished my new Ork Dakkajet. It took me about 2 weeks to build and paint. I have another set of wings on order so that I can swap between the Dakkajet and the Burna-bommer. Please let me know what you think, and don't forget to vote. http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-38424-13405_Orks.html

Great job, as stated above the chipping effect is great. Personally I think my favourite part of this piece has to be - without a doubt - Biggles, the ork pilot. The colour of his skin from yellowy green to dark green transition is fantastic. Good effort.

Awesome, but I would say it's to bright for my liking.
TSD I disagree, the arm looks dipped, the thraka green has pooled at the joint and created a blob.

Other than that small error it's good

Amazing paint job!! Gives great inspiration and I do love the look or Ork models so may have to pick up the Bommer and kit and magnetize it for all options.

great job!!

Thanks for the compements. The thakka green did pool up a bit more than I wanted, but he was the last piece I painted, and after two weeks of painting I just wanted to be done. Might try and touch him up at a later date.

And without a boubt, his name is now officially Biggles ... Thanks

KrimsunBaron: Pooled yerp but still a mighty try for sure! I personally love the Ork and think that a little correction work will make the Ork a great piece within a fantastic, well painted Flyer...

Targ: Biggles rocks Good work!

I love the little Ultramarines symbol there behind the cockpit! I also enjoy the hazard stripes on the leading edges of the tail fins and the little kill count on the nose. Very well done, sir.

the checker pattern and the hazard stripes was the first time i have tried painting a freehand pattern. the hazard stripes could have come out better, but after i painted the chips and scratches, i was satisfied. I will hopefully improve in the freehand painting skills.

Nicely done!

As an Ultramarine fan I don't even resent the gratuitous use of the Ultramarine symbol...

It looks great.

Ultramarine fan? I thought we killed those off

I didn't even notice that detail, a nice touch. Some good taunting

The Ultramarine detail: I wanted it to look like it was built from some spare parts found on the battle field. Maybe to patch up some battle damage, or repair a failed piece of Ork construction. I do wish the model had more panel areas so I could have moved the ultramarine panel to the wing. The model actually has very few individual panels. Lots of panel lines, but few actual panels.

how did you paint the engine oil spills? The whole model is very well painted. The chipped paint and weather are the strong points the painting. Well done!

The oil spills were done with a little piece of kitchen sponge. Dip in black, dab it on a paper towel to remove a lot of the paint, and then dab it randomly where you want the oil look. The grime on the entire model was done the same way, just with some brown mixed into the black, and a dryer sponge.

The paint ships were done by first painting the shipped areas with skull white, and then painting boltgun and silver over the white, just leaving thevery edge of the white showing. this gave it the look of some primer peeking through.

The scratches in the paint (on the leading edge of the wings, and other places) were done with using a plastic Brillo like sponge that was dipped in silver, dabbed on a paper towel (like the oil spill technique) and then dabbed and dragged across the model.

I have a Trukk to build soon (after a few other projects). I'll try and take some process pictures as I paint it.
