Hi there,

This is an attempt by me to get some paint where it should be. I've had a bit of success with blogs keeping me motivated for my Imperial Fists so I though I would do the same for my orks.

I've loved Orks since my early gaming days in 2nd Ed, and really loved the old Rogue Trader books 'ere we go and Waaaagh the Orks!. The humour always apealed to me, but I didn't get serious about it till 4th Edition. By then I got a decent size warband, but alas they spent their gaming lives in either black primer, or just assembled. In the end the grey plastic and white metal was too much, so they got shelved for a few years.

Fast forward to now, and with the release of 6th Edition, I''m keen to play some games with something other than Imperial Fists, and with a toddler and a baby, money is an issue, so I thought, I might as well crack out the orks again and get painting! I've always wanted to do Freebooterz, but never had the green stuff skills to pull it off. Thankfully I found an awesome conversion site that has pirate ork and goblin heads, and that was the final push for me to do something about it!

My short term goal for this blog is to have a legal army. Which as it stands it 2 troops and 1 HQ. The images below will show you my backstabbing, savvy and salty Kaptin Oddgrum Dedeye and his pet squig Bollo. Very pleased with how he looks, and am looking forward to this project (especially to give me a break from painting yellow!)

So with out further ado, some pics.

Kaptin Oddgrum Dedeye
Pretty simple really, just used Badrukk and put him on a custom resin base I had lying around. The Snottling is from the Fantasy Skarsnik and Gobbla

Needz to protectz the lootz!

His pet attack squig Bollo
I wanted an attack squig. Not a small squig attached to Kaptin Oddgrum's base, but something with a lot of bite and a nasty temper. The model Gobbla was just right.

The Kaptin and his vicious pet

Any c&c is most welcome.

I've followed your Imperial Fists log on the B+C and loved your progress. This project looks like its off to great start as well. One thing though, I think his eye needs to be a bit brighter. It could be just because I'm looking at it on an iPhone but to me his seems to blend into the osl a bit.

Nice! His lip is a bit too purple though.

Subbed, since I am planning to dig out my Orks soon as well!

Cheers Biohazard, big fan of your work on the B+C as well! Do you mean his natural eye or the bionic one? I could certainly make them brighter.

@SlaveToDorkness: Thanks! Though with his lip, I wanted something a little different. I might make it a bit less obtrusive on the first squad, and see how they measure up.

It's his bionik, I think what it is is the osl just needs toned down a little. I like the way you have his natural eye. He looks dead sneaky

Ahh right right. Good call. If I get a chance, will try and tone down the OSL tonight.

In other news, got my first squad prepped and waiting to dry. Hopefully can get started on them tonight!

Well I had a productive session last night. Got the first squad prepped and basecoated and this morning had a good run when the kids were asleep.

So I have finished the first two nobs of my squad. The heads are from Maxmini, and the models are the old metal Ork nobs. I added a bit of plasticard to the Waaaagh banner, to give it more of a freebooter look. This is also my first attempt at trying to do stripy pants. Let me know what you think. The only thing I still need to add is a back banner for the nob with a Waaagh banner, as that has for some reason gone missing. Hopefully I can find an appropriate bit somewhere for that.

Anyways on to the pics.

As always any c&c most welcome.

Awesome!

It's funny how similar these are to mine. The skintones and the colorful armor. Looking good!

Well, I've made some progress on the next three Nobs. Originally I decided to do all the Orks with the same blue shirt and stripy pants. However I did see a really nice and effective pirate ogre Fantasy army, that had all kinds of different schemes going on and it still looked like a cohesive force. That is why for these ones I'm mixing it up and hoping that the skin, base and shoulder armour plates tie it all in. As always any c&c is most welcome.

Damn, it's like we're sharing a brain!?

That's my plan for Da Boyz, tying it all together with the skin and clothing whilst the armor is a riot of colors.

Great Minds I guess...

Looking good so far!

@SlaveToDorkness: Cheers! Though I;m thinking that armour and skin will be similar, and the pants will be a riot of colour, whereas the shirts will be a on a small palette. That's the plan anyway, got to see what these guys look like after they are done, and whether the unit still looks like a unit! Looking forward to your stuff when its up, especially since we're both great minds

@Iron Father 575: Thanks! Glad you like where I am going! Hopefully in the next few nights can finish these boyz up.

Well, I finished off the next two Nobz. Quite pleased with how they turned out. Originally I was going to put the Ork glyph for Nob on the shoulder pad, but I didn't like how it looked so have kept it beaten up red. I 've included a crew pic to see how they look as a unit, and I think they look the part. The Dok is about 50% done, and then it is only two Nobz left and the unit will be complete. As always any c&c is most welcome.

Well, been a little while since I posted last, but I am still keen to go along with this project. Here is have finished my Dok, and have two WIP shots of the last two Nobz of the squad. Since he is the Dok, I made sure to add plenty of blood

As always and c&c is most welcome.

Thanks TheAngrySquig!

Finished the last Nobz of the squad. At last this unit is complete! Just one more troop choice before they are a legal army. Though now I can take them as questionable backstabbing salty buccaneers for my Imperial Fists.

As always any c&c is most welcome.

Well its been awhile since I've done anything here, but since my friend is getting into 40k, thought I'd revisit these boyz.

I've completed my Big Mek 'Gubbins', and have a unit of 20 boyz with shootaz ready to go. Unfortunately I ran out of plastic-card when I was doing my Fellblade so for now the bases aren't done. Hopefully during the week will get a chance to get some. I'm also planning on having me first game of 6th Ed with the orks tomorrow night, though only 500pts. Planning on taking Kaptin Dedeye and Gubbins, along with 20 Shoota boyz and 20 Sluggaz. Just for a bit of fun.

Thanks for looking and and c&c is most welcome.

Gubbins - named after his incessant compulsion to add anything to anything. His last customer before his fateful eviction from a Goff clan, didn't see eye to eye with him when he was installed/improved with legs on legs. In fact he never saw eye to eye with anyone again.

The next project, 20 Shoota boyz. The Bilge Rats.
