Outta nowhere! Ba god kane!

Seriously those guys are awesome, look a lot more dynamic than the standard soldiers and those gryph hounds....brah..... I didn't really like the past models too much but especially with that paint job, a fine collection to the Azyr warhost.

Love the pelts though, very fitting for a 'royal' looking Tempest Lord.

They replid to one of the people that posted on their FB message asking about Female heads or models and told them "We've seen none as of yet." Or something similar.

The gryph hounds are cool, but the SC are ultra gakky, even compared to other SC (who are for the most part boring and gakky). They all have the same stiff pose.

They probably are monoposed models with only a minimum of customisation possible,

Vanguard Stormcast Eternals...so they are rangers in their usual heavy armor, but with some furs and pelts. Not really something I'm hyped for.

Totally called the box of gryph-hounds and will gladly grab one box or two when they are out!

I'm curious for the last unit. Maybe we will know more tomorrow. Stormcast on gryph-something could be interesting for a themed army (gryph-beasts, assemble!).

Why do their guns have crossbow arms on them?

(Never mind arms on the wrong axis either!)

Is there a background reason for this?

What's the magic/tech behind them?

The gryph hounds are excellent minies - I'll grab a box for my fantasy collection anyway (dnd and other rpg stuff). The stormcast kit though... I'm a stormcast collector, have read the lore, love the models etc. I've also been there to defend them when they were being called fantasy space marines... You know what? I take it all back, I surrender. A piece of me died when I saw the clip holding sergeant and the one holding the "scrying sphere" (crying inside) . There are too many similarities in the pose and intent there to just walk by... Probably will get a kit for my collection at the end of the year, though...

That war was lost as soon as it was started. Just the fact that they used terms like the 'first smithing' was a dead giveaway that sigmarines were meant to be fantasy spacemarines

They're shooting lightning bolts with them, obviously!

Seriously, Stormcast Eternals in themselves are just demi-god warriors. And they go back in battle whenever Sigmar wants it, anyway.

So I'm not surprised by rangers or strange poses in heavy armor. It's just a "meh" feeling.

I'm going to point out those look like repeater-crossbows, only that, for some bizarrre reason (read: GW not knowing jackwad about how things properly work.) the magazine (yes, the chinese used magazines for their repeating crossbows too) and arms aren't in the right side.

Yeah, now that I've looked at the pics on google, these are repeater-hand-crossbows, only that their firing mechanism is vertical instead of horizontal.

But dark elf repeaters weren't quite so big, boxy and bolter-like, attached to the hands of heavily-armoured uberwarriors.

You may want to look again, then. Just by looking at the legs, I can count 3 different poses, maybe four but with the different angles I'm not entirely sure. The arms too seem to be in diferent poses too, so you can bet there will be a decent bit of customizaiton, specially since the torsos also look distinctly different in a few cases and there's at least two unhelmeted heads.

Endless waves, people we had the initial releases, the extremis chamber 2-week period and that's it. In my books that's already better than the tide of power-armor 40k has.

Paint'em red. That way the bolts will fly faster.

Also: http://brlsi.org/museum-collections/online-museum/weaponry/17489

The originals weren't much better in terms of boxiness. The thing is we are so used to bolters we can't remember what they (fire arms) were actually inspired on design-wise.

That's not a no then Sounds like there's a cavalry unit and some kind of flying creature to come. Another hero or two wouldn't be a surprise either. Plenty of room for a few female bare heads in there.

Except for the ones pointing their crossbows forward, all others have the same pose, but only in reverse (crossbow up, other hand down). They all look very similar to each other, and I,m pretty sire it will be impossible to make them look more disting without some converting.

And no, we had a lot more release of SC than that. The prime wasn't released in the first wave, and they also released numerous clampack characters here and there.

Characters that were used more as a breather than anything else. Big releases are done with 4 or so weeks all-together, something that none of those models did manage to pull of. Plus Celestant-Prime was released as part of a campaign book. You may think that the guy who gets Ghal Maraz should appear in the campaign book right next to the discovery of Ghal Maraz.

I really like the new release. The scout stormcast are awesome. I think they would look cool converted to be Liberators too (especially with the swords and round shields).

Gryph hounds are amazing!

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Which doesn't contradict anything I have said. The game is not even 2 years old, yet we're already in the third wave of SC release (not even counting the Prime and the other characters), while armies that are a lot more interesting are not even touched a bit and barely acknowledge in the fluff.

HOLY gak my excitement level is over 9000. I sold all my Stormcast to focus on Tzeentch but this guys are some of the best models I've seen in a good long while. The posing, the bare heads, the pelts, the whole atmosphere is completely different from the normal guys. THIS is how Stormcast should've looked from the beginning. They're astonishing, and don't get me started on those Gryph-hounds, I need these things in my life... and still cavalry models and monsters to come. and a new battletome in the style of DoT. NOW PLEASE. Completely unexpected but insanely cool. Wow, just wow, talk about hitting it out of the park.

It doesn't help that they put the magazine on the wrong side. The ancient Chinese repeating crossbows had the magazine on top so that gravity made a new bolt drop down after the previous one was fired. GW had the old WHFB DE repeating crossbows have the magazines on top and that made sense. Putting the crossbow bolt magazine on the bottom means they have to include some mechanism to push the bolt upwards into the crossbow to load it. In modern firearms this is accomplished by have a spring attached to the floor of the magazine with a plastic follower on top that pushes rounds upward into the chamber. Putting the magazines on the bottom makes the crossbows look like modern firearms or bolt pistols rather than historic repeating crossbows or WHFB DE repeating crossbows.

Which makes me angry, since I can see them just going: hey let's make this crossbow this way, it will look cool!!1one!! Instead of looking at practicalities. Those crossbows literally can't fire at all, because the magazine blocks off the axis. I'm sawing that gak off and placing it on one of the latterals, that way it will work out... sort of.

Take the top arm of the crossbow bow off completely and take just the narrower end part of the bottom bow away and you're left with what would look like a bolt pistol with a vertical grip under the barrel. Leave the axes and swords. Don't use the globe hand or swap it out for an auspex hand and you're done, Thunder Warriors.

Eh, I can't say I'm impressed with the new Stormcasts. The pelts are nice, but why the cloak is made of cloth rather than hide to match the paws on the chest? I'm not a fan of the helmets and the crossbow pistol design is really perplexing. How the hell can the magazine hold any bolts if the string goes straight through it? I get that it is fantasy, and not everything needs to be perfectly sensible, but it is so blindingly obviously non-functional that it makes it awkward. Tempestors had perfectly functional looking hand crossbows; why not use that design? (Looked better too.)

I think that the best use for these is to kitbash them with other Stormcast kits to add some variety.

The gryph puppies are rather nice, though.

Payday tomorrow was going to order DoT stuff but already appear to have sold out of Curseling miniature, so guess I won't bother. Very poor to be selling out of new mini's within 2 weeks of release, just as I was about to be tempted back into Warhammer, oh well
