I came to 40K from collecting GIJoes. So Ive got the collector DNA in me already. So if GW teamed up with a collectible company and produced high quality "action figures" would you buy them?

Imagine if you will...first wave consists of a SM and CSM HQ, a generic Guardsman, a generic SM with a couple weapons, and a Genestealer. Wave two hits with an Eldar HQ, a Chaplain, Sly Marbo, etc etc. Maybe an SM Armory set with a jump pack, rocket launcher, thunder hammer and some bits. Backpacks and armor sets can be removed and swapped around.

I for one would buy them all, and I can see this being a smart lucrative move on GWs part. Unfortunately they refuse to climb out of their pitch black cave into the bright neon light of Merchandise, but hey, its fun to dream right?

I wouldn't mind something in the style of the ultra detailed collectibles from somewhere like Sideshow toys. But action figures? Nah.

I already have this guy, so yeah. I'd definetely buy some 40k action figures to add to the collection.

I seem to remember Sideshow making 4 inch Marines, only they were insanely priced and were just giant replicas of the standard models. Then look at their GIJoe line. They are INCREDIBLE but at 100 bucks a pop I cannot justify ordering one. Im talking along the lines of the Warcraft or various movie and video game toylines you see at Toys R Us. Large, highly detailed, and better suited for posing and display rather than "playing".

Where you get that from? Are there any left? How big are they? Are they supplied painted?

Totally want one!!

As long as the Action Figures looked good, were made well and didnt cost the earth then i would certainly buy them

My FLGS had managed to lose that thing in the back storeroom. They found it when they were cleaning it out and decided to give it to me, as it was in pretty bad shape (missing half the right foot as well as the backpack right shoulderpad) and I was the only one in the store at the time. As for the height, it's about four inches tall. And it was painted when I got it, but this may have been the FLGS's doing.

They were from Sideshow Collectibles, and they were made in the early 2000s IIRC. They came prepainted (not especially well painted) and there were a bunch of them for Space Wolves, Ultramarines, Dark Angels, Crimson Fists, Imperial Fists, Black Templars, Blood Angels, and maybe more. They were essentially upscaled 40k figures and not really new sculpts at all. They cost around $20 when they were new but now they go for hundreds on eBay. I'd like the Crimson Fists one for my desk at work, but not enough to drop $150+ for it.

Personally, I would love either 40k action figures or collectible large-scale models like the Sideshow ones. My desk at work always needs more cool crap on it.

Easy Daemon Prince conversion fodder to say the least.

I'd buy a couple, probably paint them too.

Would I buy 40k action figures? Hell, I thought I already did

I remember they did busts or little statuettes a whiles back.

You can always get this

I have one and im very happy with it. It has 2 diffrent heads so you can do a little customising.

At about $150 dollars it is a bit pricey.

Something along those lines, only more poseability and customization options.

Doesnt one guy on here already do this? I think he takes GI Joe action figures and sculpts the armor pieces on top. They look amazing!

It would be amazing if they were more mass produced :p

Action figures, no.

Collectible figurines / mini-statues like from Sideshow or Organic, yes. Depending on what figures are available.

I dunno, the joints from action figures just destroy their look for me. Collectible figurines also tend to have a much higher degree of detail.
A couple months ago I got Sideshow's Darth Talon. Expensive ... but damn, totally worth it!

If they were high detail, limited poseability like McFarlane toys stuff used to be yes. I like the inquisitor scale stuff, but the selection is lacking. I paid more than I like to admit for a garage kit of a 54mm Tau Fire warrior so I can have it beside the GW "Brother Artemis".

I'm mostly in it for the P&M, as much as I like to display the results. I'd be far happier with (relatively) reasonably priced display models in a larger scale. Busts, expanded Inquisitor range, simplified plastic version of the FW marine (I bet that one would sell like hotcakes if priced comparably to a Landraider, which is what I would imagine its equivalent to be, in terms of plastic volume/parts number), etc. I'd even prefer statuettes/mono-pose models to action figures. If they're one-offs for display, I value detail more highly than "poseability."

The Dreadnote wrote:But the Emperor already has a shrine, in the form of your local Games Workshop. You honour him by sacrificing your money to the plastic effigies of his warriors. In time, your devotion will be rewarded with the gift of having even more effigies to worship.

Yes I would.

And if I were making them I'd sell both a painted and blank version of each.

But alas it will not happen.

It's well extablished that GW hates both fans and money.

We can't have nice things.

Take into account that something on par with the old Mcfarlane lines are ultra detailed, can handle a few different poses, but offer variety and accesories. And opens a door to a new wave of collectors to enjoy the hobby when they discover it.

I would def. pick up some 40K themed action figures if they were made...but the character I'd want would raise some licensing issues with a one Sylvester Stallone!
