hey im posting my 1000 point necron list

HQ: Overlord
sepiternal weave
tachyon arrow and ressurection orb-165pts

TROOPS: 2 sqauds of 15 warriors- 390pts

ELITES: 5 deathmarks-95pts

HEAVY SUPPORT:
doomsday ark-175pts
anhilation barge -90pts

Royal court: 1 lord with ressurection orb-65pts

Now this list is exactly 995 points on what i got written at home but like i said this is what i can recall

so my point is to swam my enemy with fire with my warriors at medium to short range cause rapid firing would be most sccesfull thats also how i plan to take out vehicles with the gauss rules so i glance on 6's

my overlord and lord will support my warriors in close range with the staff of light which is AP 3 and the ressurection orbs are to keep my guys standing longer

my deathmarks will deepstrike and focus their fire on a high toughnes init with some rule that allows a wound on a 2+ (forget what the rule is called)

and my doomsday ark will be long range fire heavy fire support for taking out sqauds and vehicles

my anihilation barge will aid my warriors at medium range by taking out some tougher units

This in theory i think this is a good list and id like your guys opinions. i already own these units and tried out 2 games with em but i only did descent (i find my problem mostly is with what 'tacticle' desiscions to make) so thanks for the help in advance.

First off, welcome to Dakka

I'd say the Tachyon Arrow is a waste of points, i'd drop it, pick up a warscythe and mindshacke scarabs.

Consider using the remaining points, and drop a few warriors to pick up a cryptek with veil of darkness, throw him in with the deathmarks for a wounding on 2+ AP1 flamer template.

Granted, we play Necrons, and Gauss is a fairly reliable anti-armor measure, but I'd be concerned about losing that doomsday arc, if it goes, you lose your only high-strength weapon on the board (aside from the Annihilation Barge.)

I could see Monstrous Creatures giving you trouble, or in 6th edition, flyers will give you fits, as you have no anti-air, aside from lucky shots from the A-barge or the warriors

The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

Where you least expect me

First of all the lord with resurrection orb should be a veil tek. No resurrection orb on the overlord is needed. Wraiths are a goodnsuggestion for 1000 points. Take some ghost arks or night scythes with the points you get if you drop 10 warriors and the Annihilatoon barge.

If you like the warrior phalanx approach (which you seem to be favoring atm), consider investing in a pair of ghost arcs, and have them ride behind your warriors, providing fire support, and regenerating lost warriors to your squads.

Next, I would indeed consider some wraiths, they can screen for your warrior blocks, and protect them from assault troops (best unit in the codex) lol
