Hey all. Just joined dakka about a week ago. Here is the Venerable Dreadnaught I finished last summer I believe. Criticism welcome, always looking to make better models. Also, check out my other models.

from what i can tell from the photo's its looking pretty good!
chain on the back is a bit out of scale though

I guess I'll just post my other Black Templar models as well. Here's a Rhino I did a while back. I am planning to add weathering to the tracks to match the rest of the army's bases.

These guys are the worst of mine imo. They were the first guys I did when I got back into 40k a few years back.

Nice work! The models are very cleanly painted, and some of that freehand is brilliant! I really like the layering on the doors of the Rhino.

You've made me want to buy a venerable Dreadnought... But, alas, my wallet is light enough as it is atm. Brilliant clean paintjobs and I like the added chain and attached weaponry from his past life as a marine.

For the large red letters, I looked up some fancy font and then redrew them on the hull with a thin pencil. Then layered over the top of it with red paint until it was opaque enough. Tidied it up by either black paint or scraping paint off very gently. The white is just random lettering and words with lines every which way to obscure the actual words. No real set up for that one, just went at it after I determined the boundaries.

They look good, the skin could use a little more contrast, but over all they're good.

Mmm yummy. Always happy to see my favorite brand of superhuman xenophobic and unquestioningly zealous killing machines given a proper, shiny paintjob. That rhino in particular is ace work, certainly puts my own to shame.

Ima be very pissed if i cant paint at least HALF as well as that on my Ghazgul Thraka model when i decide ive practiced enough to paint him.

The method is simple. The black is just a basecoat of black with a fortress grey highlight on almost all edges, then a codex grey highlight on the ones more exposed to light. The white on the details(scrolls/skulls/wings/etc) is just pure skull white built up in successive layers from a codex grey basecoat, then a wash of baddab black, then a highlight of skull white. The white for the decals and symbols is just pure skull white layers.

Thats pretty close to my method, but I am nowhere near as good. Kudos to you good sir.
