Painting up the figures from the Shadows of Brimstone set, starting to put together a bunch of dwarfs from a few sprues I had kicking around, and revamped a Vampire counts horde that was spending too much time as a doorstop, for its own good. And painting up a couple of Pulp City figures, Red Riding Hoodoo, and her Undead wolf, Wolfie P. Puff'NStuff AND, a team of Ogers for some added punch for the Mordhiem bands.

Also working on a bunch of Cowboys for some of the crossover work in SHadows of Brimstone, and Blackwater Gulch. The Hickok Gangs back on the docket.... AND finally in his Hero/ Villain Debut, is Left Shark, hero/ villain for use in my COH/COV gaming fun....

Vacations been good this year.

Got four of the five WoA heroes painted last night, now I just need to finish off the Dragonborn Mage, who is giving me a bit of a headache; the detail on his robes is so shallow I fear it may get obliterated after just a few coats of paint. Oh well, we shall see.

And then it's on to the baddies. Not sure whether to get the mediocre sculpts out the way first then focus on the good stuff, or mix it up as I go along. The big Dragon is undoubtedly last, though.

I also put together a shopping list of Reaper Bones minis to give me some more PC options for the game. So far I have an entire replacement Party lined up, plus a Dragon (because it's hard to refuse dragons at Bones prices!), and a few odds and ends that I've been looking for an excuse to buy. I'm tempted to throw in a giant or two as well, I hear Bones large minis are very nice...

I think I'm gonna see about cleaning up the rest of Imperial Assault today. The majority of them will paint up so fast it would make for a great 'getting stuff done finally' morale booster. Using my standard boardgame/tabletop painting practices, I'm really only estimating a few hours of work. Of course cleaning them will probably take almost as long as painting for some of the models (stormtroopers especially).

Also got some stuff primed that I'd like to airbrush.

Gave up on trying to paint the so-called detail on the Dragonborn Mage's legs, and instead just lopped them off and swapped in a pair of HE robed legs, with a pair of lizard feet attached at the bottom. It's not the neatest conversion, but I should at least get him serviceable now.

Question is what to paint.

I airbrushed a few of my Dropzone Commander minis, just to try to keep in what tiny bit skill I have.

Still dunno how I'm going to do a second layer with one though. That's a bit... trickier.

Every fething time I paint a miniture I find a cat hair about half way through. The joys of living with a girlfriend with cats. Love the little buggers but they can be infuriating.

I played two more games with my Empire of the Dead campaign group. Won both, but at a heavy cost - I had one subordinate captured by the enemy (and abandoned, since I had enough winnings to buy another) and two of my more important subordinates died!

So I have been chipping away at IA. I've got 12 of the little buggers trimmed up. So far the imperial officer and lizardman bounty hunter (transhodan or something?) have been my favorites to clean.

Some kind of boardgame plastic, along the same lines as mars attacks but a little less bendy for the most part. That means that the models clean up faster/easier than full-out restic, but aren't nearly as nice as proper hard plastic. The mold lines aren't bad at all.. if you weren't going to paint the models the lines probably wouldn't be an issue, but I am so they are. I guess this puts me around 1/3 of the way through the box though I haven't touched the chickenwalker thing and it's pretty beefy.

It also has it's feet built into the base... le sigh.

I have issues with the stormtroopers moldlines, the rest I remember being pretty good.
One thing though that really bugged me was that so many of the models have giant gaps in their arms.

A bit of advice about the AT-ST, I found I needed to cut wedges out of the chain guns to get them to fit in under the chin.

Yeah I had already decided that was *probably* gonna be necessary. Definitely wasn't going in easy.

The sad thing is, for some of these minis at least, trimming the mold lines is gonna take longer than painting them... The storm troopers are going to be ridiculously quick when it comes to paint and most of the others are still really simple too.

I just had a dream about my RAFM Reptilliad Army, which lives with a friend in Dallas, Texas.

It is something that I wish the figures were still available for, or I would expand it, considerably.

I planned to get it back when I started building Hyborian Armies, figuring it would fit in nicely with a Conan setting. But then the wife happened.

And it is going to be a LONG time before I get around to doing Hyborian Armies, considering the Middle-earth, and then Sci-Fi stuff I have in line before it.

Speaking of Sci-Fi... I did the reference drawings for some Starships, based loosely upon the old FASA Renegade Legion ships from their game Leviathan (the drawings are based upon the "Shiva" battleship, but deviate slightly from being an exact match for it. You can definitely see the Shiva in the ship, but it departs enough to avoid problems. Looks kinda like if an Ironclad and a Submarine had sex).

At some point, I would like to do models for a Starship game where the model and game scale were 1:1 (so, if the ship-scale was 1:1200, then the "ground" scale would also be 1:1200).

But the market is so full of starship games right now, and I need to concentrate on getting back to my Goblins/Orcs.

So anyway, as I was going to say yesterday when the site hiccuped or something and made me lose my post, I finished up assembling my Skull Cannon of Khorne, leaving me with a box of Bloodletters, a box of Raptors, and a Rhino left to do for my Khorne Daemonkin army. I also have some finishing touches and basing to do on my Flesh Hounds for the May painting contest, so that is what I will probably concentrate on as there is slightly less than a week left!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):

Figured out that I'm going to want the Metallica transfers for later with my mechanicus, although I haven't quite decided on a paint scheme yet. I may do something with white and blue..I'm not sure. I also like the ryza color scheme, but I don't care for the ryza symbol. I got my matching limited edition codex ordered on saturday, and since it was the store birthday, I also got some swag to go with it. I missed out on the 40k posters, but I got a nice wood elf one and a citadel pin.

Was a good game until I my half tracks blunderd into the range of several french AT guns.....I suppose that can be put down to bad attention keeping and somewhat forgettfulness on my side, after that it was all just a downhill slide.
Ended as a bloody defeat for me but still had fun

Down to 9 models left of Imperial Assault yet to clean, 25% I guess. Though one of them is that big nasty alien.... quadruped fangly rattlesnake tail thingamajig. Whatever that is.. its like cleaning 2-3 minis, got some funky mold lines to disappear.

I think I'll mass-prime everything white via rattlecan, these guys are gonna get kicked around in a box, theoretically.

I'm looking forward to Geek and Sundry playing Star Trek Attack Wing live tomorrow (in roughly about 22 hours) on twitch.

They'll be using DS9. I mean, come on, look at the size of that thing!
