Well, after a bit of a hiatus, I managed to finally put together a blog entry for my Lord Chompy Bits model with a little background, but, for those of you who'd rather just look at some bigger pics...

@masterdoobie, thanks! And, yeah, I really prefer painting Malifaux because of all of the character in the minis (you can only paint so many tactical marines before getting twitchy)

@Wolves, yep, it is. I thought it helped exaggerate the scale/threat

Also, starting to put together my Kirai crew....

That diorama is amazing, congrats on the win for the Wyrd painting comp too! Very cool how you painted it to actually look like light, and the style is very dark and dreary, in a good way!

Up next, my updated Rasputina crew (this one's for sale/trade, since I'm getting the new LE kit to experiment with...), with a link to more words, as usual

Thinking about starting in on this game. Looking at some of these models I'm actually more excited to start painting them! These look like they were a blast to paint!

The game's pretty difficult to get into (the steepest learning curve of any game I've played), but the minis are also really fun to paint- some of the most fun I have with textures are from this line, and there's a lot of attitude. The plastics are also great to paint, though they're super-fiddly to build.

Basically, if you've already got some experience with miniatures, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the line.

Another (half) crew, another blog post.

This time, with a question: I'm unsure, about the look of this crew: I chose to do a cleaner well lit look, to emphasize the stark bureaucratic feel, but (again) I'm not sure on this choice.

So, I have a few options (and would be happy with any other suggestions)
-keep them as-is
-do a more subtle version of the yellow-orange light I paint on a lot of my malifaux stuff, and experiment with slightly softer shadows
-do another color of light altogether

Thoughts?

Simply Amazing!!! The boy and his monster and the women looking at the mannequin are two of the best pieces I have ever seen!

I like the looks of the latest batch. I'm not a huge fan of all the lighting effects on the interwebs.

4thellion, thanks! Definitely the two I spent the most time on, though I'd like to get the latter smoother.

Bobaram, thanks- asked on wyrd's forum and looks like between the two there's a consensus. I was getting a little tired of such thorough OSL anyways, so I think I'll take that as an excuse for a break
