Finished these guys up this weekend. Not entirely happy with the photography as usual but I am pretty happy with the paint...

First up the Pred:

That text is amazing! Did you do it freehand or is it a decal?

Great work all around.

This Predator is fantastic. Source lighting isn't overdone and I'm glad you did both a yellow and green glow for different lights.
I may be crazy but my absolute favorite part is the painted vehicle name on the front.

@ Villain (love your Avatar by the way ) do you mean the white script on the side of the Pred? If so I must be honest and say it is a transfer, from the Witch Hunters sheet which is now quite rare. I actually had to splice two together to get the finished result...

@ Rothstein, cheers, I did use an airbrush for some stages (the base red and OSL). Everything else is standard layering, washes, powders etc.

@ Gob once again I must come clean and admit that's a transfer – again from the elusive and valuable Witch Hunters sheet!

Haha Thanks!

Honestly I am sooo happy you said you used a decal cause I may have had to stop painting and get rid of every bit of 40k/painting stuff I own.

Plus there is no shame in in using decals when you get that great effect.

Again great work.

Fantastic. I love your OSL. Not overdone and just looks great.

ooo those are awesome, makes me think I should get off my ass and paint my Baal up.

Dont think I would be very good at OSL though - my painting is sketchy enough as it is!

OSL is pretty easy with an airbrush, you just have to be very careful as it's easy to overdo it... you could probably do it with glazes too but it would take a lot longer

Really like your paintjob!
Though the green OSL from the turrets etc doesn't make a lot of sense to me ^^ always pictured those as being lenses, not lights

I think the pics look great! Your shading is spot on with the lights and armor. Good eye for detail. Stuff like this makes me want to be more brave with my highlights.

Awesome vehicles. Love the deep red color and the battle damage isnt overpowering. Nice work!

Loving both these paint jobs.

May I ask which red(s) you used?

Thank you all for the comments and kind words!

@ Malistone, thanks, the deepness is helped by the layers of different colours:
I first undercoated them with Vallejo Primer 'German Redbrown', the pre-shaded them with Vallejo Black primer, then pre-highlighted them Vallejo Primer 'German Dark Yellow'.

Then the basecoat over the top of that was Vallejo Model Air Red RLM 23, then a little additional highlight with Vallejo Model Air Scarlet, from above only.

I took some step by step pics of the drop pod doors:

Thank you very much for posting pictures of your process. I hope to emulate it for my pieces. Very nice looking models and very informative method. Thanks again.

When I get home I'm going to do SO much coke and ---- hot women. It will be like, 'It's 5pm..., time to do some coke and ---- hot women!'

I haven't see that done with the yellow before. It is surprisingly effective. I am going to try this out. Thanks for posting that process.
