Given the number of painting related questions that I have been getting since I started posting (and am sure to get with all the images that are on the way!), I figured that I should give the heads up about my own Kickstarter.

It's called the Painting Pyramid, as the idea is to start with the essential techniques, and then 'build up' to subsequent levels with more elaborate or intense subject matter. If you have seen some of the step by step articles on the blog, you get a sense for what I am trying to do. It is not about creating a Golden Demon miniature in a 100 minute video, but rather to give you some helpful tools to work with to make painting easier.

I try to cover all the major techniques, but I also get into more specialized things, like basing. In fact, that is always the most fun subject to teach.

There are 40 videos in all, but more are about to be added, since that next stretch goal is getting closer and closer! Lots of pledge levels are available, but I would advise that people look closely at the stretch goals, as those have added free videos to most of the pledges (I didn't know that you can't modify the text of a pledge once it has been written).

I discuss all the materials that I use in the first chapter of each video. If I refer to other techniques or use additional colors or brushes, there will be text on the screen explaining what I am taking about , or tell you how to get it, etc. Also, I try to say what I do to fix "mistakes"... because we all know that those never happen!

The plan is also to have these videos available long after the Kickstarter ends, as I will be adding more and more as time goes on!

And a hilarious blog post describing our first test of the 'real' equipment:

We didn't anticipate having to invest in all the equipment before the KS ever began, but that's how it goes...

Normally the newer duplicate thread gets locked, but because James is here and able to update his own thread, I'm going to lock the other and link to here.

Thanks!

My apologies about that!

I could swear that there was not specific post mentioning it... I did a search today and only saw a brief mention in the Rivet Wars KS.

Sorry about that!

Pfft, painting tutorials will be useless in a few years when you just have your minis 3D printed in full colour. Yeah yeah, you can get that done today but I mean when it's more widespread.

Welcome Inquisitor Wappellious!

Following this one for a while, the NMM and OSL spark my interest indeed.

Good luck

Hey folks!

Here's a sample video that I did for the Rivet Wars Kickstarter!!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolminiornot/rivet-wars/posts/394385?ref=activity

It was very fun to shoot! My own videos will be about 40 minutes longer, with chapter breaks and text...

Well, my apologies for being AWOL for a few days!

All the lack of sleep for the last 3-4 months finally caught up with me, and took me down until today. Now I am trying to get caught up on everything, like trying to get a stretch goal added to the kickstarter.

In the meantime, here's a little terrain building session:

Wow, hard to believe we are down to the last day! Holey smokes. It feels like 6 months in a way, but it has been 29 days. And counting!

Pledged. How much do you expect the videos will retail for when published and how long will they each run for?

Many thanks!

The videos will be roughly 100 minutes long, divided into chapters to make them easier to follow. I am still talking to various providers to see who else wants to carry them. Cool mini or Not will already be doing that post KS.

These will be very intense 'diving in' to the subjects, that's for sure. The idea is to show all the ways to do that particular technique, instead of just churning out one mini!

The end is near!

Just 7 hours left!

I can say that, as the Norovirus lead to the 4 day crash diet program... meaning no food, sunken eyes and hollow cheeks after losing about 8-10 pounds!

So I should really be walking around with a sign that says it is...

I don't have to outrun the Demon Prince, I just have to outrun you.
