Ok Dakka need some help I'm looking to buy or even build a centerpiece model for my WoC Army and I'm having a bit of a conundrum. I really like the look of the Warshrine and I want one but word on the street is that the new rule book nerfed the crap out of it. I like the Lord on the Manticore but not real sure if it would fit with my Army( I could make it work but not sure how), I like the hellcannon but don't see it being very playable, the Dragonogre Shaggoth model is very cool but is it what I want, and what about the new slaughterbrute is it good and plus is it worth paying almost $100 for? I also like Archaon but he seems to be more of a huge point game model and right now my shop is not there with WHFB, as most guys are into 40K. So please any suggestions and ideas are welcome ...

I'm not sure about the word on the street, but a Deamon Prince appears to fit your needs, and then you can add a hellcannons, Shaggoths, and War Alters to taste.

Rules-wise, daemon prince is going to be pretty handy by and large.

The Warshrine got nerfed in the sense that you can't just try to muscle a 3+ ward and stubborn on to your unit of choice, but I think its still plenty handy. And at the points cost, you get a pretty durable model to boot. If you like the model, I think it'd make a fine centerpiece.

So a Daemon Prince ....Hmm didn't think of a Daemon Prince being a good centerpiece but I could definitely see it. Red_Zeke you think the Warshrine is still a good piece? A few threads I've people have been just bashing it. Now I know that there are always gonna be "TFG" and like I said in my OP I don't want to buy something that won't see the top of the table. How is a dragonogre shaggoth for Kholek? Would he make a good Lord? Or is he too expensive? I like the Shaggoth model as well.

One of the new flying Hydras would also make a good centre peice (i.e. Chimera) and is usefull is most lists, as is the Prince.
The GW model is not the nicest but there are others on the market.

Warshrines are still good, just not like they were previously(which was redonkulously stupid good)

my biggest turn off is the fugly model, glad I scratch built my own.

Why not two DP as your center, flanked with your army. ying and yang, dark and light, bright color and a dark color.

A chimera would look cool, painted up well.

But honestly a converted shaggoth as kholek would be better. He fits into 2250 point games if I remember correctly, and putting armored plates on a shaggoth would look cool.

Daemon princes just seem kind of small and weedy for a centerpiece, I feel. I guess I'm comparing them to the new monsters though.

What about a lord on a chariot? The new chariot is nice.

umm, Hell Cannons are still legit choices. They gained magic attacks and a ward save but lost 3 movement. Still -1 leadership auto panic with a wound.

Man I hadn't realized it lost 3 movement. I'm hoping that's a typo due to the M3 dwarves with it, and gets errata'ed.

I don't mind hellcannons. I have typically used them just to mess up my opponent's deployment, though, due to his fear of the cannon shot, then send it forward to go stomping.

I find moving it up with my infantry and parking it protecting a flank to start firing from turn 2 or 3 onwards in its good position is the best way to use it.

Greater Daemon used as a prince. I'm using a LoC for my WoC army. Hellcannons are awesome too.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

The fun thing about Warshrines is that GW pretty much says that they can be anything you want them to be

Lots of room for creativity there

I'm actually working on a winter-themed WoC army, and am planning on turning a Stonetusk into a Warshrine. I've yet to decide whether or not I want to mount a Lord or Exalted Champion on it yet...

I am pretty sure that was their position back before they had a model, I daresay these days the position is quite firmly 'that model is what they look like'.

I am actually entertaining the thought of using the VC corpse cart as the warshrine and then stacking skulls and bones on it on top of all the corpses and then adding a bunch of chaos symbols to it. Don't get me wrong I like the GW model but I feel that what kenshin620 said is true that it should be whatever you want it to be.
