Hard to say. I could say that it's because they are ridiculous and over the top, but at the end of the day I'm still gaming with giant, stompy, physics-defying robots.

I guess it's just the degree of ridiculous. I guess I prefer incredulity-inducing but draw the line at over-the-top.

That it does. It's got just the right amount (by which I mean buckets) of over-the-top. I'm actually using my mech kits for a large scale battletech'ish (but much simpler) game using the Mech Attack rules. Even by battletech standards, the cannons are just a touch over-the top.

There are various Danbo kits available. It might be possible to use them for a Riptide, Crisis Suits and individual fire warriors if you spend enough.

For example here is Danbo nano...

For those watching Gundam Build Fighters, you may be interested in knowing that Bandai will indeed be making kits of the knock off Gunpla seen at the end of the first series and being used as training targets in the Build Fighters Try.

The Machine is being called the High Mock.

Equally of interest, they're releasing an add-on set for it called the Mock Army. It has extra weapons as well as an alternate head piece to make it into an even more generic High Mock. The High Mock itself is being released in January with a price tag of under 1000 yen.

Also of interest, we have our first look at the Mega Shiki model, based on the Hyaku Shiki from Zeta Gundam.

What makes it the Mega Shiki is that the weapon system on it's back is apparently a modified Mega Launcher from ZZ Gundam!

That's both random and pretty cool. This will be the first time that that particular vehicle is being made into a model.

We also have some pictures of what the final model of the Jahanam is going to look like. No surprise, Reconguista's equivalent of a Zaku is in fact green.

High Mocks under 1000Y?! Glorious.

Definitely ordering some new Gunpla after Christmas.

Mega Hyaku Shiki is great and all, but the Delta Gundam Kai would have been cooler.

The Reconquista Zaku actually looks pretty cool.

Actually, according to the blurb, what I can make out, it actually does seem to be using components from the Delta. Those wings mounted on the sides of the Mega Rider thing are from the Delta. I suspect some elements of its legs are as well.

And it may just be me, but the standard Jahanam reminds me a lot of sime of the mook enemy MSs from G-Savior.

I kind of suspect that the Jahanam may possibly wind up being a good guy MS. It seems like the show is playing up the Capital to be the bad guys and the Amerians as the good guys since the pirates all have ties with the Amerian military and government

What's scale is the closest to Riptide Size for Gundam models 1/100? 1/72?

Also props to whoever made the Gundam Converge to Crisis Suit conversions. My tau buddy is super stoked about getting some of those

Gundam doesn't come in 1/72. You want 1/144 scale.

whoops my ignorance is showing. 1/144 for a riptide seems small. . . but you probably know better

I predict Barzam will return from Japan this winter with more than a few High Mocks.

I like the Zaku inspired suit. Not that I don't own enough Zaku inspired suits as it stands.

I await the inevitable SD versions though.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Sadly, you predict wrongly. I'm going in the beginning of December. High Mock comes out in January. With luck, the Jehanam will come out while I'm there though.

Heh! My Leynos suits are 1/35 scale and 6-6.5 inches or so tall.

So 1/100 scale Gundams should be about that tall, 1/60 scale is asking for titan mecha.

For anyone who liked the Metal Slug model, there is an injection moulded kit coming soon that is much cheaper.

I liked Metal Slug quite a bit, and I love that model tank!

Anyone know the what 1/24 means in terms of how big this thing will be?

I think you are overestimating the size of a Riptide. An Imperial Knight is 6.5" tall, and Riptides are definitely smaller than that. Here's a pic of some of my own models for comparison:

The taller Gundams are MG 1/100 scale.
The smaller Gundams are HG 1/144 scale.
Also note the 15mm Dreamforge Leviathan in there too, lol.

The HG 1/44 scale is perfect (if even a little too big) for a Riptide and you're friend should be looking for one of those.

Also, there are alot more good pictures at this link (but they are not mine):

Possible, but I suspect it's going to be a bit more complicated than that. The Gundam appears to have literally come out of nowhere, and it's unclear where Monday came from. On another note, the art style for the mecha reminds me of AGE...

That's why I recommended using a 1/144. Back when they first came out, someone posted a pic of one next to an old Endless Waltz 1/144 and they were the same size.

The previous episode seemed to hint at the Gundam and Raraiya possibly coming from the colonies. They haven't come up yet and it wouldn't surprise me if the colonies still maintain a higher tech level than the Earth.
