Got 6 Persian Spearmen done, which will put me on 364 minis for the year once based. I'll need to find something suitably impressive for completing the Big 365 goal...

My desk is also being taken over by even more Historicals. On top of the Persians and Greeks, I've stumbled across the makings of a Germanic and Republican Roman army, and started looking at various other minis online. Zvezda do some really nice Spartans that would fit in with the Greeks, and my Persians would then need similar expanding, and the Romans need some Cavalry, which means I need more Germanic... Even with how insanely cheap these 20mm minis are compared to standard wargames fare, this could be one of those little side projects that gets ridiculously out of hand!

Hah, thanks! It's simply a product of too much free time and having more projects on the go at any one time than I'd strictly necessary and/or safe!

I was doing a whole lot of washing - With a good chunk of my UCM washed.

I'm also having a bit of a try experimenting with my AT-STs from Imperial Assault.

Hypothetically, General Weiss's AT-ST is just fresh out of the factory, so I went with a black wash on him, to try to hint at shadow. Whereas, the standard AT-ST would have been on patrol and out working for years, so it'd be dirty and grimy.

However, my problem is, the next stage is going to be the first time I try airbrushing when it isn't a base coat or undercoat. And that, I don't know how to do without obliterating all the previous work. Do I want the airbrush to be close in, far away (and how far is far away?). I'm guessing I want it to be a 'light' touch. - Does that mean I want to maybe thin the paints down more? I'm using the Vallejo Game Air paints, so I haven't been thinning them.

Help me, Dakka, you're my only hope!

Brace for montage storm gents, there's gonna be lots!

Just so I'm contributing SOMETHING, I'm working on a 6th Tactical Squad and some new Devastators. Hopefully will be getting a third Land Raider today as well if I get everything done.

Yesterday I spent more time working on the sporocyst/tyrannocyt kit. Most annoying kit I've ever put together. I've never wanted to chuck bits across the room and smash a model so much.

Drop stupid little vent on floor. Pick up. Clean off. Glue halves together. Drop bit. Repeat x3 for 6 sides...

I am not putting together another one of these for months. *flips table*

If I want to get it painted for this month's monster contest, I need to get it done, however. Also traded our accidental double purchase of the space marine cards for some paints to another hobbyist down at the shop. I had ordered the cards and then my fiance decided he wanted a limited edition last week.

Today, I need to go down to the apartment office and pick up my package containing my warhammer regicide swag, as I completely forgot to pick it up yesterday on my way out to the shop.

Will see if I get any more model work done.

@Para, damn! I'm just now getting close to 120

@Compel hmm.... are you more or less wanting to lighten up the higher areas like you might paint/drybrush after a normal wash? I would think you'd need to go low PSI (which usually means thin them out a bit more), get in close, and carefully spray stuff while avoiding your darker recesses. It's possible you may be able to just hold the thing out at 8" (or whatever) and blast the things a couple of times and it will work out.. but I dunno..

As for me, I just need to paint two more Imperial Assault heroes to have the set completed. I'll probably be sealing and basing the lions share of the rest of the models today, and catching those last couple up tonight or tomorrow... yeah probably tomorrow need to let the dip cure for awhile.

I may not call it completely done though, I'm not really sure I want to buy any of the expansion/token replacement packs for IA, but I would like to at least get some proxy models prepped. I'm thinking deadzone rebs would make good impromptu rebel alliance troopers, just a bit less formally attired (and really, why do they need a formal outfit anyway, they're rebels!), maybe soraks can fill in for the saboteurs. I'd like to maybe get 3d representations for some of the other tokens too, like crates and such.

I added some thinner in and, I'd like to think I can call it a success!

I probably overdid General Weiss' AT-ST a bit, but I was going for that 'fresh from the factory' look. - I should have been a LOT smarter though and poped Weiss himself out before airbrushing.

In saying that, he himself wasn't exactly the most detailed of models in the first place...

I'm pretty darn happy with the normal AT-ST though, it looks like it's seen a bit of time and battle. - Good ol' Agrax Earthshade.

Now, I do have something called 'chipping medium' that I could use to work on them a bit more, but I'm kinda tempted to just call it a day (well, maybe if I can salvage Weiss a bit more... somehow...)

Last week I managed to nab the limited edition Malifaux Performer and Bayou Gremlin for a ridiculously cheap price. Tonight the Gremlin gets built. The Performer might wait until I get Collette.

edit - $25au worth of tiny, limited edition Gremlin.

Just nabbed a sealed Sedition Wars on EBay for £25. Even if the game isn't great, I figure 50 minis, scenic bases and decent tiles will be more than worth the price of admission .

Between Deadzone, Warpath and this I should have very respectable sci-fi human and Zombie/Techno-monster forces, just need to sort out some rules for this kind of game. Looks like another homebrew project coming along!

Sedition wars is definitely worth it for the figs alone. They are a pain to cleanup, but the effort pay off. I've bought 3 boxes now to build a generic human sci-fi force.

I think I've seen them for as little as 20 bucks on miniature market... hard to resist until I remember how slow cleaning restic is. I don't really mind it, but I have such a backlog of deadzone and other games that I just really don't need more stuff like that right now.

Going to try to do either or both of: painting the last two imperial assault minis from the main box, basing the 13 other minis I sealed last night.

I think I'm just gonna use double 25mm rounds for the gunners, I think they're effectively 25x50mm rounded rectangles. The AT-ST is gonna need probably a 55-60mm base (not sure which size I'm gonna get, its a 6 dollar difference to go up to 60mm at the pack size of 25... and I just dunno if I'm gonna play enough games where people are gonna care about the bigger size.. plus it's right for the bigger infinity models).

If I can't get myself to paint, I'm gonna organize the tokens and try to run through the learn to play scenario for IA.

Hah, I'm one of those wierd people who actually doesn't mind restic at all. Don't know why, I guess that I find it fine to paint, and much more durable for gaming (I wouldn't want to go putting metal minis 3 cubes nigh on Deadzone terrain!). The fact it's cheap as chips helps too! I am jealous of the kind of deals you guys can get stateside, but I've always said I'd get SW if I saw it at £30 or less, as I think it's worth it. Lots in the box, and it's all useable stuff.

Started on my D&D orcs and another Enforcer team today.

I agree about the value of the box, even if you don't play the game itself... its got some nicely printed tiles if you're into that sort of thing, lots of tokens and some of them are even hard plastic.

I'm fine with restic too. I just have realistic expectations of it. I know it will take a bit longer to clean up and whatnot, and i've already got so much stuff...

Got 8 more minis on bases today, just need to rebase a few more to finish IA, well and paint those last two heroes.

That's the best reason paint!

Got Sed Wars today, so have been testing schemes, building the (really rather smashing) minis and testing out my own rules (which I'm very happy with, although they need some balancing if the aliens are going to even have a chance. Humanism trading casualties on a 30:1 ratio makes a good story but not a good game )

Feel kinda sad about it to be honest, but I think I've only ever actually used my Klingon minis once.
