Hi, so what units/characters would you like to see in armies either for fluff or because they're needed?

I myself would like to see the Dwarfs get a monstrous creature of sorts like a runed up stone golem, or maybe even some steam/magma powered wagon/battle ship.

What would you like to see and why?

Never interrupt your enemy whilst he is making a mistake. . . . . . its bad manners

So basically you want Chaos Dwarves, right?

What do you mean "IT MOVED?"

Then use CD rules as Dwarfs and you have exactly what you described. Only the fluff is different.

I want to see an Old One. Like a 5000pt special character with a 1+ ward save that's rerollable on fail, 1+ super space armor, all 10 stats, loremaster of all lores including army book lores, IF on any spell that meets casting value, can ignore the first 10 miscasts a turn and assign the first 2 to enemies within 60000", +2PD per spell cast. Special rules: all of them. Creator: can make a unit of D6 creatures who possess D6 stats.

Trolls that don't look like really big and ugly halflings.

Ogres that don't look like really fat and tall halflings.

Skeleton horses that don't look like they came from a claymation movie.

I'd like some more chaos dwarf special characters, thunder lizards, zoat models and stronger gors (ok the last one is off topic)

Jetpack skaven units. Just do it already. Skryre is steampunk as it is anyway. Just put it as an option for poisoned wind globadiers and warlocks and give them the fly rule with dangerous terrain for fly moves.

Dwarfs need some more options so they have more to choose from Lots o' Guns, Lots o' Great Weapons, or A Decent Amount of Both Guns and Axes.
I'm not sure if the answer is something Monstrous; I really like how Dwarfs are at least somewhat restricted in their lack of monsters and cavalry.
I've played around with zepplins (with bombs), more Miner and Ranger options, and Engineer equipment (like landmines and grenades).
Oh, and a Rune Lore, revised Anvil rules, and, most importantly, Slayers. Those guys are basically the mascots of Warhammer, and they should be awesome.

Played against a pair of zepplins packing core with repelling lines.
The Zepplins had the float rule (flyer who cannot march).
The rules where up to 20 infantry selected from core could be inside the zeplin. In remaining moves, the infantry could get out, counting as having reformed, and must be placed within 1" of the zep, no more than 6" from it. If they successfully pass an Ld test, it's a swift reform and they can then move 3".

If the zeplin is shot down, the embarked core take a S4 hit each, and survivors are placed as if they had disembarked.

It gave the dwarves some much needed mobility, while still keeping the fighting force slow on the ground.
Rangers leaping out with throwing axes was bitch'n.

I really hope to see something like this for dwarves.
Something to give them some upfield speed so they aren't playing a gunline or a reactive great weapon wall.

I like the idea of Miner's blasting charges giving them a tunneling rule like the Warp-Grinder and various Tomb Kings beasties. Though I'm really fond of the Dwarf version actually hurting the enemy as well, should they be so unfortunate as to lie above the Miners when they decide to dynamite their way to the surface.

i love the idea of zepplins and miners that appear under a enemy unit.

slayers are dissapointing if they didnt want to cange there rules maybe just make them cheap enough to warrant havin on the field

The Slayer rules I came up with for my friend's Fandex were pretty brutal:

Slayers 18pts
Troll Slayer M3 WS4 BS3 S4 T4 W1 I3 A2 Ld10
Giant Slayer M3 WS5 BS4 S4 T5 W1 I4 A3 Ld10
Unit size: 5+
Equipment: hand weapon
• Upgrade any number of models to Giant Slayers +7pts/model
Special Rules:
Glorious Death:
A Slayer must declare a charge against the nearest unit of war beasts, monstrous infantry, monstrous cavalry, monsters, or unique models within his line of sight, unless he passes a successful Leadership test. If this test is past, the Slayer must move as close to the unit as it can this movement phase.
In addition, if a Slayer is killed in a close combat phase before he has attacked, he may resolve his attacks as if he were still on the table.
Runic Tattoos: A model with this special rule has Magic Resistance (1) and a 4+ Ward save, except against wounds caused by close combat attacks.
Slayer: Slayers are treated as having sufficient strength to wound war beasts, monstrous infantry, monstrous cavalry, monsters, and unique type units on a 4+, up to a maximum of strength 6, before bonuses from weapons.
Skirmish

And a Flame Cannon that works (just used the old rules).

I've got another thread with some new Skaven ideas, just to broaden the number of viable units, really. My favorite idea is letting a unit of Giant Rats with a Master Moulder count as Core, and letting units of Giant Rats and Rat Ogres with Master Moulders buy upgrades (Poison, Regeneration, +1M and Swiftstride, Armour Piercing and Magical Attacks).

But that's more for the sake of creating, rather than any actual need for more Skaven stuff.

Really, I think adding new units should be done with extreme care; there's already a lot of stuff to choose from. I think the best way to come up with and use original units is to design a specific scenario to use them in. That sort of thing.

i like the idea they attack before they die makes sense, i havent heard a sinlge good word heard about the flame cannon.
what about Empire infantry units being able to use special drills or training like:-

spearmen can go defensive and damage enemies that charge them.
oh oh oh what about a diseassed rat unit for skaven that explode when they die

Not so much a new unit, but I'd like to see something with Hydras.

I know that they will not survive as they are in the next Dark Elf codex, and I accept that (they are too cheap ;p ) but I'd like to see options for them. I remember a WD years and years ago that had variant hydras, like magehunter hydras or something. That'd be nice.

I think anything that gets more dwarf infantry downfield is good. Zepplins was fun because you could try and gun it down on the way in if you really wanted to.

That's actually going to be the background of the item (some skaven warlock made it and another assassinated him and stole the idea and people knew it wasn't his idea but it was so effective and it's skaven nature anyway so whatever ). Warlocks and possibly poisoned wind globadiers will use it. I just figure it's more steampunk and fresh than say helicopters. I honestly should probably forward the idea to GW but they'd probably steal it too and give no credit to me whatsoever ;P. Honestly i just want my d*mned steampunk jetpacks already. They could attach it to jezzails for all i care but that's not something jezzails need considering they can't move and fire. This is why they need move and fire and possibly quick to fire weapons like pistols, slings or thrown weapons. Considering this is skryre it'll either be pistols or poisoned wind globes and something tells me this would be a better upgrade for poisoned wind globadiers as they'd finally have speed. It'd be the ultimate war machine killer. Sadly this makes it a huge target and its unit leadership would also likely be terrible but hey it could work.

Ok new units i'd love to see.

A skryre entirely robotic steampunk rat giant (skaven).

Mini doom rocketeers for clan eshin (skaven). Like the larger version pretty much but weaker or just a small blast.

Skaven-slave suicide bombs as a weapons team (obviously skaven).

Gliders for gutter runners to appear off the table from or similar. Just throw gliders with clan eshin elites in some way (very asian ninja feel and skaven). Hopefully the warp grinder doesn't ruin this unit possibility.

As said before then we have steampunk jetpack skaven. I think it works.

Would wood elves with a tree-kin or with arrows with the ability to root an enemy to the ground be cool? Perhaps they take a strength test or similar or become more tree versions of themselves?

Here's an idea of what i mean with a clip of that poison ivy's grove of people scene in batman the 90's animated series.

I know this will sound silly, but I always wanted to create a Dwarven unit of Caber Tossers. This was in the days when WHFB wasn't so terribly grim and dour in its art direction and ideas.

I remembered being quite amused by the Goblin Doom Divers and Fanatics back in the day, and thought to myself: what could be just as silly for the Dwarves?....Caber Tossers! I figured they would function as a small Skirmish formation type unit (probably of Slayers) who would run up and toss a caber, a long template that did X damage and was totally subject to random scattering. They were a one time toss, after which they would form a normal line of Slayers. And yes, they would be wearing kilts! They could "run" further than the abysmal 6" Dwarven movement at the risk of losing balance of the caber and/or being squished by it. Oh but to dream.....

Warhammer's Dwarfs are more Nordic than Celtic, but that brings up an interesting point; where are the Celts in the Old World?
