Hi Everyone, I've been lurking for a while now checking out many awesome threads here and thought it was about time to share some of what I've been up to. In the last year me and some friends started up a Necromunda campaign. Bruticus has been on here a lot keeping you all updated with the table and set up we've been using and his awesome gangs, and he's finally talked me into sharing my scavvy gang so you can see who he has been battling with.

So this is the gang more or less complete.

I used a few different sources for the gang, the bulk being kitbashed from zombies, kroot, ghouls and orks with heads from puppets wars and shapeways. A few models were from alternative games like Malifaux and Hordes. I was very keen to create individual looking models, partly because it was a very fun modelling project and partly because in large gansg it can be difficult to keep track of who is who if they look too similar. They are themed around a fairly comic bunch of mutants from the old cartoons (Think Thundercats, He-Man, Toxic Crusaders and Futurama.)

"The Monarch" is the 8ft tall King of the Scavvies. He's accompanied by his 2 loyal Scalies; Rampage and Ravage that act as his bodyguards.

"The Butcher" is the gangs cook, having the Ogre mutation helps in his task of collecting fresh meat for the pot

Wing-Nut the unfortunate fly-mutant

Fister

Ram-Bam

Mort

Muteck

Brainulo - the gangs Telepathic Wyrd

Thing

Mordax

Bonehead

Lobo

Blink

And the Scavvy Dogs (Easily the most terrifying thing about the gang, just ask Brut)

I am in the process of equipping them with some beasts and vehicles ready for our departure from the depths of the Underhive and into the Ash Wastes. WIP shots to follow soon!

Looking great, where are those dogs from, very colorful. I think the names really add to the character of the gang.

The dogs are from the bowels of hell. (Miniatures are Malifaux I believe).

Dang I missed these. Welcome to Dakka

Lovely stuff. Really like the skin tones.

Wing Nut is my favourite though. How did you make the wings and can we have a shot of his back?

I really hope that Fister is named after a particularly amusing but distinctly uncomfortable combat involving Bruticus

Here is the first of the gangs vehicles, The Butchers Big-Wheel

This is the first vehicle I've done since waaaay back when and I wanted to start of with something quite small and manageable. I REALLY enjoyed building this little thing, though none of it was actually planned - a friend gave me a spare Ork Deffkopter, thinking it may be useful for Ashwastes and I was given a Skaven Screaming Bell as a random present as well. I also had lots of spare parts from an Ork Battlewagon which I'm going to be using as the main transport vehicle for the gang, along with a converted Ogre Kingdoms Stonehorn to use as a gigantic beast.

One thing I have been really focusing on is trying to ensure the gangs vehicles and beasts don't end up looking too "Orky". The aim is for a junkyard feel, but also as though they are using whatever supplies or materials they have to hand. In this case the bike's original wheels have been destroyed (or perhaps been salvaged by someone else when it lay in a scrapheap) and they have been replaced by lumber and bits of scrap metal.

This was my first time using textured paints, must say I'm very impressed with them - they're good fun to use and create a nice effect. The paint work isn't quite finished, I'm gonna lighten up the skull a fair bit and also add some ash-grey weathering powder over the mud splatters.

I'm not sure how often bikers actually want to get off their bikes in Ashwastes, but I like having a mounted and an on-foot version of the same gang member all the same, and The Butcher has ended up being one of my favorites. Oh, and the drum of toxic waste is going to be used as his Tox Bomb. The other vehicles will have them on as well and I'll be making markers with barrels oozing with toxic sludge at some point soon.

What a great bike! It doesn't look orky to me, definitely more junkyard, but it does look huge! Gonna be hard to get out the way when it comes tearing across the ash wastes towards you. What will the unmounted version be armed with? Will be useful if he ever ventures in to the underhive...

Love the rest of the gang as well. Keep the sexy scavvies coming!

They're Squamata Warriors from the Hell Dorado series. I was scouring the internet for days looking for kickass scalies then I found these guys and bought them instantly!

Cheers dude, and you should totally play Necromunda, its ace.

So here is the Gigantic Beast

This is in fact my second attempt at making this monster, I had it constructed months ago but before I got round to painting it the glue completely failed (It went very brittle and crystallized...?) so I had to rebuild it all.

To be honest this wasn't such a bad thing, the previous design was very Orky - looking as the housing on it's back was made up almost entirely from bits of the Ork Battlewagon set. To help give it it's own style, I added lots of wood and bone to try and make it look like it had been built out in the ash wastes from whatever they could find. and of course, more barrels of toxic ooze. My Scavvies just couldn't live without their Ooooze.

I certainly hope it has this effect when whenever Bruticus and I eventually get to do some more gaming!

Cave_Dweller wrote:Very inventive characters, they look quite nasty. Might give Nurgle some nightmares with these muties. All awesome!

Hehe perhaps, though some of my gang could almost be Nurgles rejects, like they applied for Chaos but didnt meet the "Evil requirements" so had to make do workin for the Scavvies instead...

Bruticus wrote:Love that thing, not looking forward to having to play against it though.

And I can't wait to see it stomping on your Bounty Hunters! Think it may be a while though, not much progress on the remaining vehicles:

God, the conversions and paintjobs pack so much character into these models.

What pistol did you use on "Thing"? I've been looking for stubguns and that one looks great.

The pistol he has is on the 2 armed mutation from the mutants pack on Shapeways, but the guns are available here: http://www.shapeways.com/model/447577/revolver-weapon-pack.html?li=productBox-search

Glad you like'em!

I'll have to get working on it some more! I'm thinking of replacing the wheels with some much smaller tracks, will hopefully look even more rickety when Im done. I'll be sure to take a few snaps when I make some more progress.
