Glory to the Twelfth! Glory to Angron!

‎"Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls. The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does. That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

That actually looks really good.
I would totally fight against that.
Or, sneak up on it in the night and stab in in the back with my skaven assassin.

I think he's too good at each step.

I don't know storms of chaos well, can't remember where I put my book. But LD10 IP of 24" with a 2+ rerollable(!) save and 3+ ward is a bit nutty.

I know everything is a bit crazy in storms, but still.

But it's on a 650 point lord choice. At that point, you're running 2600 points or more, and aren't running a wizard lord.
This guy is supposed to go toe to toe with Archaon (who oddly enough costs the same).

It's a pretty even fight, but I think Archaon has an edge.
1+ armor 3+ ward (re-roll 1's) with -1 to be hit, and only wounded on a 3+ or better.
6 attacks S6 on the charge, no armor save, or could have 10 attacks if he unleashes the daemon.
18" bubble as general, and a 12 inch re-roll.

Valten is getting less attacks, hitting on 5's (thanks to mark of nurgle) wounding on 3's (thanks to archeons magic armor) but doing D3 wounds per hit.
To top it off, Archaeon is a level 2 caster, so he does get a few other bonuses, and has a better horse.

I'd bet on Archaon, but it could go either way.
Of course, if I were Valten, I would have my cannons shoot the piss out of Archeon and hope to get lucky.

Karl Franz, riding on a monstrous mount, gives the same leadership bubble now. And while his ward save is 4+ and his armour save only a base 4+, the power isn't that far off. When you consider the way Storms ramped up the power levels of characters in general, it doesn't seem to far off to me.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

I've actually play tested it a bit
Short of Archaon rolling like gak and licking his sword, he edges Valten in 2 rounds of combat, as he should
The danger here being the 1st round when Valten gets hatred, with Gal Maraz doing D3 wounds Archaon ends up copping between 1-2 wounds in the 1st round. As long as he doesn't keep rolling 1s to hit, Archaon should beat down Valten and have between 1-2 wounds left on his profile. Which again makes sense as he would shred Luthor Huss, even the ramped up SoC version, and then Grimgor would finish him curtesy of ASF hitting Archaon first

In a round about way, Valten does kill Archeon. Archeon needs to use his swords ability. Once he turns it loose, he does win against valten, but risks losing if empire can just keep him in the fight. Sooner or later he will roll enough wounds to off himself.

Unlike Archeon, Valten can show up with some lore of life buddies to heal him.

I would allow the two lower Valtens in normal battles but as you have put the higher one would be SOM only.

Archaon can be used in normal battles though can't he?

Are there a lot of SOM only characters?

Archaon can be used in normal battles, however he is 580 on foot and 650 mounted.
